Key questions about Medicare enrollment

Medicare Open Enrollment is from Nov. 15 to Dec. 7. This is the time of year when you can compare health insurance plans to make sure you have the right health and prescription coverage for your needs.

Every year, plans change or end, the doctors no longer works with that insurance company, the lab only works with this plan, or maybe the plan no longer pays for your medication. it is important to take advantage of this time period to make sure you have the right plan for you.

It is also important to get your health care insurance plan from a trusted source.

Beware of Health Insurance Brokers who state they are approved, endorsed or authorized by Medicare, or that Medicare asked them to call you. Beware of Health Insurance Brokers who approach you in common areas such as parking lots, hallway, lobby or sidewalk, or solicit potential enrollee’s door (in person, or via leaflet). And be leery of commercials on TV, promising free add on services.

Health Insurance Brokers can schedule appointments with beneficiaries only at the request of the beneficiary.
