Dunkirk Senior Center to host fall prevention event

The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging in collaboration with Brooks Hospital Physical Therapy Department will be hosting a fall prevention event. The event is being held at the Dunkirk Senior Center, 45 Cliffstar Court, Dunkirk, on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event is free and opened to the public. It is a myth to think that only older adults fall, but it is a fact that when an older adult falls, the repercussions can be much more serious, if not deadly. AARP Driver Safety class reservations needed An AARP Driver Safety class is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 26 and Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Masonic Lodge, 321 E. Main St., Fredonia from 1 to 4 p.m. both days. Attendance is required both days and the cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Anyone 18 and older with a valid NYS drivers license may attend to receive up to 10 percent off their liability and collision insurance. The class may also be taken for point reduction.
