Submitted photo Shown from left to right are Nataleigh Ditchcreek, Alina Franklin, and Hannah Tenamore.

On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria:

1. Follows Westfield’s Rules of Respect for staff and peers

2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects

3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes

4. Serves as a positive role model for peers

5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship

Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of October:

For 6th grade, Nataleigh Ditchcreek was selected as Student of the Month. Nataleigh’s favorite classes are Social Studies and ELA, because she enjoys history and reading. She is currently reading a funny book, called “A Long Way from Chicago.” Nataleigh enjoys riding horses, and in the future, she wants to show animals at fairs with 4-H, and she hopes to become better at drawing and sketching.

Alina Franklin is the 7th grade Student of the Month for October. She also enjoys ELA and Social Studies the most, because the teachers are fun and they do interesting things in those classes. Alina is a gymnast and a dancer, and in the future, she hopes to become a veterinarian.

The 8th grade Student of the Month is Hannah Tenamore. Hannah likes reading and free writing, and she also likes band (both solos and playing with a group), and math, because it challenges her and makes her want to try harder. Hannah is involved with soccer, softball, basketball, and plays many musical instruments as well. In the future, she hopes to earn a spot on the high honor roll every quarter, graduate at the top of her class, and go on to college after high school.
