Revitalize Dunkirk Beautification Committee to meet Tuesday

A Revitalize Dunkirk volunteer puts finishing touches on a White Oak donated to the city and planted at Point Gratiot in November.

At its first meeting of the year Tuesday at 10 a.m., the Beautification Committee of Revitalize Dunkirk will begin planning its activities for the coming year. The committee is one of several in the larger organization, comprised of 17 enthusiastic and active members, and focuses on one stated goal of Revitalize Dunkirk “to beautify the built environment. . . .”

In addition to the downtown hanging baskets, its 2022 projects include a spring clean-up event of the Pier’s landscaped areas; involvement in Adopt-a-Garden and other ornamental public gardens; new tree planting and on-going maintenance of ones previously planted on city and school property; the Garden Recognition postcard program; container planter arrangements for the History Museum and Senior Center; placement of new, grant-funded trash and recycle bins; and its annual fundraising plant sale in May.

The Beautification Committee, welcomes all interested persons to its meetings which usually take place on the third Tuesday of the month from March through October, in one of smaller rooms at the Fredonia Technology Incubator, 214 Central Avenue, Dunkirk. Revitalize Dunkirk, Inc., is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit community improvement organization dedicated to bringing ideas for improved urban living to community members and elected officials.
