Brocton sorority meets, plans coming events

BROCTON — Members of the Brocton Preceptor Beta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Jan. 24 at the home of Lois Smith. Final plans were made for their annual Valentine Queen dinner at the Bark Grill in Westfield on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. for members and their guests. Valerie Lis, the 2022 Queen will announce this year’s Queen.

The group has purchased all of the towels needed for their upcoming 20th Towel Bingo Event on Sunday, March 12, at the Brocton American Legion from 1 to 4pm with doors opening at noon.

A donation of $75 was made to the Centaur Stride organization towards their most worthwhile Equestrian Physical Therapy Program.

Get well and retirement cards were sent out to members of the community.

The program for the evening was presented by Nancy Munson.

She talked about the origin of Valentine’s Day and then gave a demonstration of making a three tiered Valentine hung with pretty red ribbon that she and her granddaughter, Grace Sunday, designed and made kits for each member to make their own. It was a fun project with everyone taking home a special Valentine decoration.

The next meeting will be at the home of Janice Hipwell on Tuesday at 6p.m. Following their meeting the Ladies will spend time making some new Towel Bingo Cards, using some bright colored Poster Board.

Each is covered with 5 playing cards, making this Bingo unique and fun with proceeds going to local residents and organizations in need of assistance.
