Elizabeth Kahl and Shane McCarthy, along with their families, announce their engagement.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Kevin and Mary Jo Kahl of North Syracuse. She is a graduate of Bishop Grimes High School (2006) and Canisius College (2010) in Buffalo. She is a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley in Rochester.

The prospective groom is the son of Thomas and Kathleen McCarthy of Dunkirk. He is a graduate of Dunkirk High School (2005) and Canisius College (2009). He works in equity research at Manning and Napier Advisors in Rochester.

The couple plans to be married Sept. 6.
