Drs. Gretchen and Thomas Malikowski

Dr. Gretchen Lynn DeLuke of Lewiston and Dr. Thomas Michael Malikowski formerly of Fredonia, exchanged wedding vows on June 6, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo. Monsignor Patrick Keleher officiated at the double ring ceremony. Roland Martin provided the organ music and Colleen Marcello Brecker was the soprano soloist. The groom’s grandmother, Mary Mirek, the bride’s uncle, Bruno Gora, and the bride’s cousin, Bruno Gora, gave the readings. The church was adorned in white bows accented with white hydrangea flower blooms.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Anthony and Karen DeLuke of Lewiston. The groom is the son of Joe and Sandy Malikowski, formerly of Fredonia, currently residing in West Seneca, and the grandson of Frank and Mary Mirek of Dunkirk.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She was escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore an ivory, sleeveless, sweetheart tulle ball gown, with a fitted bodice embellished by a thin pearled and jeweled belt. Her hair was adorned with jeweled combs and a cathedral length tulle veil. The bride wore her mother’s diamond and pearl teardrop earrings with a knotted silver necklace. She carried a flowing mixed bouquet that included white and pink roses, hydrangea, peonies and various greens and ferns.

Carolyn Shea of Queens, N.Y. served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Elise Janicke DeLuke of Rochester, Nichole Beal DeLuke of Atlanta, Ga. and Kasey DeLuke of Amherst, all sisters-in-law of the bride; Mary Kate (Malikowski) Patnode of Tonawanda and Sara Malikowski of Buffalo, sisters of the groom; and Maggie Gora of Richmond, Va. and Sarah Ann Tracy of Framingham, Mass. The bridal attendants wore various styles of navy, silk tea length cocktail dresses. They each carried a smaller version of the bride’s mixed flower bouquet.

Stephen Green, formerly of Fredonia and now residing in Buffalo, served as the groom’s best man. Groomsmen were Kevan McDonald of Fredonia and Andrew Mcalley of Buffalo, friends of the groom; Ian DeLuke of Rochester, Byron DeLuke of Amherst, Nathon DeLuke of Atlanta, Ga. and Brendon DeLuke of Washington, D.C., all brothers of the bride; and Tucker C. Patnode of Tonawanda, brother-in-law of the groom.

The groomsmen wore grey suits, with blue ties, finished off with wooden tie clips carved with a small buffalo. The groom wore a matching tie and blue suit.

The couple celebrated with friends and family with a reception at the Saturn Club on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. Guests traveled from all over the country to attend the event. The bride’s cousin, Bruno Gora, traveled from Hawaii where he is currently serving in the United States Navy.

The newlyweds welcomed guests during cocktail hour. Before dinner, a strolling classic Polish accordion player entertained. Following a sit-down dinner, music and dancing were enjoyed under the stars in an outdoor courtyard.

The couple both recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Buffalo Medical School. After a honeymoon in Walt Disney World, Florida, the couple will begin residency programs at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. – the bride as a resident physician in dermatology and the groom as a resident physician in the internal medicine department.
