Collins troopers charge teen after domestic incident

  • Troopers Tuesday arrested Davin Lay, 19, of Route 438 in Collins for third-degree assault, third-degree menacing and criminal obstruction of breathing following a domestic incident with his girlfriend that morning.

Lay reportedly confronted his girlfriend inside her home after she spent the previous night at a friend’s. He allegedly chased her into a bedroom pushed her to the ground, grabbed her around the throat, held her down and yelled at her. The assault continued, as he picked her up and shook her. Lay dragged her into another bedroom and threw her onto a bed, before then throwing her into a wall.

The victim left the residence a short time later and went to another friend’s home and then to the SNI Marshals office, where she reported the assault.

She was treated at Lake Shore Hospital for her injuries and released.

Lay was processed at SP Collins and arraigned in the Town of Collins Court. He was released to a family member and is due back in court next month.

Dunkirk Police Department

Josue P. Rivas, 34, of Main Street was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree assault and second-degree harassment on Feb. 22.

Leslie H. Heckathorn Jr., 17, of West Second Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 22 on a previous charge.

Tess M. Diamond, 20, of Jamestown was charged with having a suspended registration, no insurance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Feb. 22.

Timothy J. Perry, 47, of Forestville was charged with having a suspended registration, no insurance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Feb. 25.

Merritt D. Wolcott, 21, of Townsend Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 26 from a previous charge.

Alicia M. Christopher, 25, of Forestville was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, speeding and not having a child restraint on Feb. 26.

William Garcia, 17, of West Courtney Street was charged with falsely reporting an incident on Feb. 26 from a previous charge.

Two injured

in Gerry crash

On Tuesday, two Pennsylvania residents were hospitalized after a two-car accident in Gerry.

Around 3:20 p.m., a vehicle driven by Brenda DeCastro-Barton, 37, of Gerry, was traveling northbound on Herrick Road when it is alleged she failed to stop at the stop sign at Gerry Huntington Road. Her vehicle struck a vehicle traveling westbound, operated by Margaret A. Dillard, 49, of Union City, Pa.

Dillard and her passenger, Donald M. Herman, 22, of Erie, Pa., were transported by Gerry and Sinclairville rescue units to WCA Hospital for leg injuries.

DeCastro-Baron was not injured and was charged with failure to stop at stop sign and uninspected motor vehicle and will answer to the charges in the town of Gerry Court at a later date.

State Police

at Fredonia

On Tuesday, at about 12:30 a.m., troopers charged Raymond Skibicki, 20, of Elma for unlawful possession of marijuana. Troopers stopped his vehicle on Route 20 at Route 60 for reportedly having an inadequate stop lamp and an inadequate exhaust.

Officers reported smelling marijuana when interviewing Skibicki. He was allegedly in possession of a jar containing about 4.5 grams of marijuana, a marijuana grinder containing about 1 gram of marijuana and a plastic smoking device containing marijuana residue.

He is scheduled to answer the charges on March 5 in the Town of Pomfret Court.

PORTLAND – On Monday, Charles M. Karlstrom Jr., 25, of Fredonia was charged with petit larceny after a complaint from a Portland resident that his prescription medication was missing.

Karlstrom had allegedly taken several Hydrocodone pills without the owner’s permission.

Karlstrom was arrested and released on an appearance ticket. He is due in the Town of Portland Court on March 5.

One man injured in snowmobile accident

CHAUTAUQUA – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Mayville Fire Department, were called Friday to a personal injury snowmobile accident on Trail C4 between Hannum Road and Route 430.

Investigation showed James Weise was operating his snowmobile at 8:20 p.m. when he lost control, hit several trees and was ejected from the snowmobile.

Weise was transported to WCA Hospital for treatment of an arm injury.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

PORTLAND – Her-bert Schultz, 47, of West-field was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated common law, DWI per se with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher, failure to keep right and using a mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle. At 9:50 p.m., deputies allegedly observed Schultz fail to keep right on Finley Road. His vehicle was stopped and investigation led to the charges. Schultz will appear in the Portland Town Court.

SHERMAN – Arthur J. Reid Jr., 22, of Sherman, was taken into custody Fri-day on a bench warrant for failure to pay a fine for disorderly conduct. Deputies were on Lyons Road when a record check revealed the warrant out of the Westfield Village Court. Reid was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Westfield Court. He was remanded to the Chau-tauqua County Jail on $250 cash or $500 property bail.

MINA – An accident on Route 426 has resulted in three charges being placed against a Findley Lake woman. On Monday at 1:48 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of motor vehicle accident that resulted when 52-year-old Patti A. Smith allegedly drove off the west side of the road and struck a telephone pole head on.

Upon investigation, depu-ties charged Smith with driving over hazard markings, driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with blood alcohol content over .08 percent. Smith will answer the charges in Mina Court.

at Jamestown

On Friday, state police charged Louis Landy, 27, of Colfax Street in the City of Jamestown for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Landy was reportedly stopped for speeding in the Town of Carroll.

While speaking to the driver, the officer reportedly smelled marijuana. When asked about the odor, Landy allegedly surrendered a baggie containing 5 grams of the substance.

Landy was issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled for the Town of Carroll Court on March 5.

On Saturday, Shawn Didomenico, 38, of East Elmwood Street in the Town of Ellicott was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Didomenico was stopped for a loud exhaust in the City of Jamestown. Troopers observed him dropping a plastic baggie containing about one gram of cocaine.

He was transported to state police barracks in Jamestown and held pending arraignment in the City of Jamestown Court.

ELLICOTT – On Sunday, Matthew Minekime, 33, of Harmon Street in the Town of Ellicott was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Minekime reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign on East Elmwood Avenue. After reportedly failing field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody and transported to the state police barracks in Jamestown.

He provided a breath sample reported to be .10 percent.

He was released with traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court on March 5.

Two charged for excessive communication

JAMESTOWN – New York State Police have charged two individuals for aggravated harassment on Feb. 21. Over the preceding days, Adrianna Samlock, 20, of Clymer and Keith Tilyou, 19, of Ripley contacted police several times reporting the other person was contacting them excessively. Since neither party wished to file charges, verbal warnings were given to both to refrain from contacting each other. Both Samlock and Tilyou ignored the warning and continued to contact each other. Both were charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and released on appearance tickets for the Town of French Creek Court

CLYMER – New York State Police at Jamestown have recovered a stolen van at a local ski resort.

Deputies responded to Peek N’ Peak Ski Resort for the report of a missing van on Feb. 17. While police were interviewing staff, another employee observed the van drive south on Olde Road and pull into a parking lot. Trent Johnston, 22, of Ripley was identified as the driver. He was charged with third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and transported to the Jamestown barracks. He was arraigned in the Town of French Creek Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

JAMESTOWN – Brittany Merrill, 34, of South Dayton was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny on Feb. 20. State Troopers responded to a larceny complaint at the Sweet Repeats consignment shop in Jamestown. A customer told police a woman had stolen her purse containing credit cards and cash. Investigation led police to Merrill who was found at her residence with the stolen purse. She was arraigned in the Town of Kiantone Court and released on her own recognizance to appear in court at a later date.

Dunkirk man connected to recent burglaries

During a joint investigation into recent burglaries conducted by the Dunkirk and Fredonia Police departments, property reported stolen in a Fredonia burglary investigation was found at a city residence.

Merritt D. Wolcott, 21, of Townsend Street was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Feb. 20. Wolcott was previously charged by Fredonia Police with second-degree burglary and grand larceny following a burglary that happened in January. He was arraigned before City Court Judge Walter Drag and held on $1,500 cash and $3,000 property bail.

Robert R. Kulpa, 20, of South Jerboa Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Feb. 17.

Sonia M. Buchanan, 43, of West Second Street was charged with having no inspection, having a suspended registration, having no insurance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Feb. 18.

Velmon J. Boyd, 45, of Westfield was charged with failure to keep right and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Feb. 19.

Patrick P. Phillips, 31, of Canary Street was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Feb. 19.

Man charged with DWI after driving 105 mph

RANDOLPH – A Randolph man was charged with driving while intoxicated after driving at a high rate of speed on I-86 in the town of Randolph.

According to New York State Police, a vehicle operated by Lawrence J. Walsh, 20, of Jamestown was observed traveling at a high rate of speed along I-86 at 9:13 p.m. Monday evening. Radar confirmed Walsh’s vehicle was being operated at 105 mph.

Police administered field sobriety tests to Walsh and he was found to be intoxicated. Walsh was transported to the New York State Police Jamestown barracks where his blood alcohol content was found to be a .16.

He was additionally charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 after police found alcohol in the vehicle.

Walsh was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Randolph Court at a later date.

Two charged in graffiti incident

GOWANDA – Two have been charged following a graffiti incident in the village of Gowanda.

On Jan. 29, police received a report of criminal mischief and graffiti done to a building at 76 Jamestown St.

Through investigation, police discovered a similar incident in the town of Eden. Working in concert with Eden Police, Gowanda Police discovered Morgan A. Manfreda, 24, of Eden was responsible for both incidents and she worked with William Sywak, 19, of Chesnut Street and a 15-year-old juvenile.

Manfreda was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, making graffiti, possession of a graffiti instrument and child endangerment.

Sywak was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, making graffiti, possession of a graffiti instrument, child endangerment and fourth-degree conspiracy. Both were charged on Feb. 8.

Manfreda was arraigned in the Town of Persia Court and released on her own recognizance. Sywak was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court.

Gowanda Police Department

Patrick A. Flagg, 32, of Little Valley was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration on Feb. 3.

Flagg was stopped by police on Torrence Street at 10:15 a.m. for a traffic violation. During this stop, a DMV computer check revealed that Flagg’s registration was suspended. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court.

Lawrence A. Nadeau, 35, of Commercial Street was charged on a warrant on Feb. 4. Gowanda Police had previously arrested Nadeau for larceny and when he failed to appear in court, the Persia Town Court issued a warrant.

Nadeau turned himself in to Gowanda Police and was released on his own recognizance. He was then turned over to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police for two active arrest warrants.

Ronald W. Jamieson, 42, of Taylor Hollow Road was charged with second-degree harassment, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree obstructing governmental administration on Feb. 6. Patrol responded to a domestic incident on West Main Street at 1:55 a.m. Jamieson allegedly would not open the door for police or allow them to speak with a female victim. Jamieson allegedly held the victim down against her will and struck the victim several times. He was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Persia Court.

Morgan S. Montour, 26, of Brant was charged with driving without headlights, felony driving while intoxicated, having an open container and refusal to take a breath test Feb. 9. Police saw Montour operating in a suspicious manner on Perry Street where Montour turned off his headlights. Montour exhibited signs of being intoxicated and failed several sobriety tests and also was in possession of an open container. Montour had previously been convicted of DWI in the town of Evans, making this charge a felony. Montour was arraigned in the Town of Collins Court and released on $1,000 bail.

Dunkirk man charged

HANOVER – Saturday at 3:45 a.m., Eladio Merced of Courtney Street in Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a business on Routes 5 and 20 for a male passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle while in the drive-through line.

Upon arrival, the officers reportedly found a male, later identified as Merced, asleep behind the wheel of his running vehicle. Allegedly he was intoxicated.

He was taken into custody, arraigned in the Town of Hanover Court, and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

  • CHAUTAUQUA – Two people were charged Thursday with violations after a traffic stop.

Around 1:50 a.m., sheriff’s patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically on Route 394. After observing multiple traffic infractions, officers stopped the vehicle and the operator was identified as Robert F. Lynch, 43, of New York City. Following an investigation, Lynch was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs.

At the time of his arrest, it is alleged he was in possession of a hypodermic needle and was charged with illegal possession of a hypodermic needle.

A passenger in the vehicle, Emily C. Aronoff, 29, also of New York City, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Aronoff was cited and released. Lynch was taken into custody and later released following a chemical test. Both are to appear in Chautauqua Court.

  • FRENCH CREEK – On Feb. 9, a Clymer motorist was arrested on several charges.

Around 10:55 p.m., sheriff’s patrol observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on Redding Road in the town of French Creek. As deputies approached the vehicle, a female was observed outside the vehicle, apparently arguing with a male operator.

The operator was identified as Jeffry T. Legters, 27, of Clymer. He was found to be operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition and was arrested for DWI. He was taken into custody for processing and charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content. of .18 percent or greater, and parking on a highway.

He was released with appearance tickets.

Wanted list

The sheriff’s office has announced two names have been removed from the county wanted program.

  • Rameal O. Fields, 21, of Jamestown, was wanted for third-degree possession of stolen property. On Feb. 11, Fields was arrested by New York State Police when he turned himself in to authorities so he could be heard on his outstanding charges.
  • Shawn A. Beardsley, 19, of Jamestown, was wanted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for violation of probation.

On Feb. 10, Beardsley was arrested by New York State Police when they pulled over Beardsley for a vehicle and traffic ticket. Beardsley currently is awaiting a hearing on his charges.

Luis A. Valentin of Central Avenue was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment on Feb. 7 on a warrant.

A 16-year-old male of West Fourth Street was charged with second-degree harassment on Feb. 8.

Stephen R. Partyka, 29, of East Lake Road was charged with unlicensed operation on Feb. 8.

Korrie Jimerson, 28, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with third-degree assault on Feb. 9.

Cassandra M. Mead, 30, of Silver Creek was charged with having no front license plate, having a suspended registration and no insurance on Feb. 11.

Ladarren Watts, 20, of Townsend Street was charged with second-degree harassment on Feb. 13 from a previous charge.

  • A 16-year-old male from Angola was arrested and arraigned for two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary and curfew. He was released under the supervision of his mother and returns to court April 3.

MAYVILLE – District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:

  • Carlos J. Torres, 33, of Jamestown, was sentenced to eight years in state prison and five years post-release supervision for two counts of first-degree robbery, to run concurrently.
  • Joshua M. Anzalone, 26, of Washington Avenue, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.
  • Julian E. Duman, 17, of Main Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 2 years determinate in state prison and 2 years post-release supervision for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Brandon Andino, 27, of South Gazelle Street, Dun-kirk, was sentenced to 2 years in state prison and 1 year post-release supervision for fifth-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance.
  • Dominic Mooney, 19, of Allegany Road, Silver Creek, was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 10 years probation for second-degree rape.
  • Samuel Hoard, 79, of Parcell Road, Stockton, was sentenced to 6 years probation for two counts of second-degree misdemeanor sexual abuse.
  • Scott Couchman, 43, of Adams Road, Fredonia, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $2,000 fine, 1 year driver’s license revocation and 60 months ignition interlock device for felony driving while intoxicated.
  • Susan F. Harmon, 51, of Holmes Road, Silver Creek, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $2,000 fine and 60 months ignition interlock device for felony driving while intoxicated.
  • Zachiel Fields, 33, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 5 years probation and 6 months license suspension for two counts of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, to run concurrently.
  • Thomas A. McMahon, 34, of Abbott Road, Buffalo, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $2,000 fine and 60 months ignition interlock device for felony driving while intoxicated.
  • Tiffany C. Bindics, 31, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 5 years probation for second-degree attempted criminal possession of a forged instrument.
  • May S. Stilson, 34, of Jamestown, was sentenced to time served and 5 years probation for third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Damian Young, 23, of East Fifth Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to time served and 5 years probation for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
  • Matthew R. Aldrich, 28, of East Randolph, was sentenced to a $500 fine for misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

State Police at Jamestown

KENNEDY – On Feb. 7, Dorene Camarata, 63, of Kennedy was charged with second-degree harassment.

The day before, a trooper responded to a residence in Kennedy for a complaint of harassment. The victim reported that Camarata had threatened and annoyed her on several occasions.

Camarata is scheduled to appear in Poland Court to answer the charge.

BEMUS POINT – Michael Babbage, 19, of Bemus Point was charged Monday with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

A trooper pulled a vehicle over on Route 430 because the driver was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. The officer reported smelling marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. He searched the vehicle and reportedly located a billy club 2 feet in length.

Babbage was released on an appearance ticket.

Dunkirk man charged with DWI

  • On Saturday evening, Pedro Vasquez-Torres of 719 Monroe St. in Dunkirk, was charged with failure to keep right, moving unsafely from lane, refusal to take a prescreen, driving while intoxicated and blood alcohol content .08 percent or more.

Chautauqua County Sheriff dispatch received a complaint of a vehicle that was being operated in an unsafe manner. Deputies located the vehicle and reportedly observed it violating two vehicle and traffic laws. The deputies stopped the vehicle and identified Vasquez-Torres as the operator. They reported he was driving while intoxicated. He refused to submit to the prescreen alcohol sensor.

He was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

  • HANOVER – On Saturday, a Hanover man was charged with obstruction of governmental administration and second-degree harassment after an incident on Allegany Road.

Around 6:20 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies and Silver Creek Police responded to a call about a despondent person Alleghany Road in the town of Hanover. While attempting to locate the individual and obtain the status of his well being, Vincent E. Tundo, 58, of Alleghany Road in Hanover allegedly pushed the Silver Creek Police out of the door, quickly locking it behind them, barring law enforcement from further investigating the situation. For allegedly interfering with the investigation into the well being check and safety of the individual, Tundo was arrested for second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, and second-degree harassment. Tundo was later issued appearance tickets and will appear in the town of Hanover court at a later date.

PORTLAND – Zachary Cave, 25, of Fredonia was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Feb. 7. Deputies were speaking with Cave regarding an unrelated incident on Old Mill Road at 5:50 p.m. Deputies noticed an odor of marijuana coming from inside Cave’s vehicle. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and was issued appearance tickets.

He will appear in the Town of Portland Court at a later date.

Fredonia Police Department

Adam D. Bautz, 27, of Las Vegas was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having a suspended registration on Feb. 5. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Silver Creek Village Court

Matthew Oakes, 31, of Kenmore, was arraigned and pleaded guilty to aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree. He was fined $285.

David Payne III, of Dunkirk, was arraigned on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on his own recognizance and returns to court March 6.

Christopher Perry, 27, of Forestville, pleaded guilty to unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was fined $150.

Enoc Ramos, 33, of Sinclairville, pleaded guilty to unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was fined $160.

Amanda Thies, 24, of Silver Creek, pleaded guilty to operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Her fine was $160.

A 17-year-old male of Hanover Street, Silver Creek, pleaded guilty to a curfew violation and was fined $50.

Suspect has preliminary hearing

Dunkirk resident Timothy J. Odebralski was arrested for burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny on Tuesday following the conclusion of an investigation by members of the Fredonia Police Department.

Odebralski had a preliminary hearing Thursday in Village of Fredonia Justice Court at which time the case was transferred to the Chautauqua County Supreme Court, based on the felony burglary charge. Odebralski was returned to the Mayville County Jail where he is being held on $25,000 cash or $75,000 property bail.

It is alleged that during daytime hours Monday, Odebralski forced entry into a locked home on Howard Street in Fredonia. After gaining entry, it is alleged he stole a nondisclosed amount of cash from the home before fleeing the scene in his vehicle. The home owner was not present at the time of the burglary but did return a short time later and contacted police.

Silver Creek police warn of phone scams

Silver Creek Police Chief Timothy Roche warned area residents of a rash of reports of phone scams in the Silver Creek area. Roche said the department has had many reports of scam phone calls particularly to seniors.

He said there have been a variety of scams reported from paying fees to receiving a check to sending out gift cards. Roche reminded residents to contact their local police department if they experience similar calls.

JAMESTOWN – Joy N. McGilvery, 32, and Scott A. McGilvery, 35, both of Warren, Pa. were charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and second-degree offering a false instrument for filing on Feb. 6. It is alleged that both subjects had been residing in Pennsylvania and collecting and using benefits from the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services. It is stated the pair collected $3,116.58 in benefits from September 2011 through February 2012 they were not entitled to. Both were released on an appearance ticket for the City of Jamestown Court.

ELLERY – Two 16-year-old females from Ellery were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Feb. 6. Just before 11 p.m. deputies did a marijuana investigation at a residence on Dutch Hollow Road. Both females were found to be in possession of marijuana and were released on appearance tickets for the Town of Ellery Court.

RIPLEY – Wanda Bentley, 67, of Loomis Street was charged with petit larceny on Feb. 7. It is alleged Bentley stole two signs from a residence on Ross Street. The signs were in support of a “no” vote for the Ripley tuitioning vote. She was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of Ripley Court.

Sheriff’s Department warns of man posing as a dog warden

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department is investigating several incidents in the town of Pomfret and Portland of an individual posing as a dog warden, approaching home owners and attempting to confiscate/impound their dogs.

The suspect has been described as a white male in his early to mid 30s. He operates a small brown colored sedan and identifies himself as the dog warden for the town of Pomfret.

Anyone who has come in contact with this individual or can provide more information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Dispatch office at 753-4232 or St. Investigator Peter Pet at 753-4489.

State Police at Jamestown

ELLICOTT – On Monday, troopers charged E. Marquelle Marshall, 18, of 117 E. Second St., Dunkirk, with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Marshall was a passenger in a car stopped on State Route 60 for no tail light. A strong odor of marijuana led to the arrest of Marshall for possession of three grams of marijuana.

Marshall was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Ellicott Court on Feb 19.

State Police at Collins

Saturday morning, Candace M. Hurst, 28, of Buffalo, was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana.

An investigation was conducted by members of the New York State Department of Corrections Inspector General’s office who reported that Hurst was in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

She was turned over to troopers stationed in Collins for processing and released on an appearance ticket directing her to appear in the Town of Collins Court.

SOUTH DAYTON – Tuesday morning, troopers charged Steven A. Masters, 29, of South Dayton with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Troopers received a report of an unwanted guest in a village residence on Park Street. Masters was found sleeping in the passenger seat of a car parked outside the residence.

Troopers reported he was in possession of a small quantity of marijuana and two smoking pipes.

Masters was released on an appearance ticket for the Village of South Dayton Court.

Dunkirk man arrested in connection with Fredonia burglary

A Dunkirk man has been charged in connection with a burglary that took place in Fredonia Tuesday.

Timothy Odebralski, 43, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny.

Police allege that during daytime hours on Tuesday Odebralski forced entry into a locked home on Howard Street in Fredonia. After gaining entry, he took an undisclosed amount of cash from the home before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.

The home owner was not home at the time of the burglary but did return a short time later and contacted police. Odebralski is being held on $25,000 cash or $75,000 property bail at the Chautauqua County Jail.

A 16-year-old Dunkirk male was charged with criminal mischief on Feb. 1. He was also found to have a bench warrant for criminal mischief and was held.

Michael A. Crowley, 21, of Central Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct Feb. 2. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Chul Yeon Choo, 19, of Igoe Hall was charged with violating the sewer ordinance on Feb. 2. Choo was released on an appearance ticket.

Joshua R. Taylor, 22, of Angola was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 2. He was released on $100 bail.

Michael P. Hore, 20, of Tonawanda was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 2. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Peter C. Isaac, 22, of Green Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 2. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Brian J. Blackburn, 18, of East Amherst was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and violating the sewer ordinance on Feb. 3. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Patrick Fay, 20, of Green Street was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol on Feb. 3. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Rachel Bialaszewski, 20, of Brocton was charged with following too closely, having no seat belt, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device and failure to yield the right away to an emergency vehicle. She was released on an appearance ticket.

MAYVILLE – District Attorney David W. Foley announced the following pleas and sentences in Chautauqua County Court:

Stephanie Textor, 24, of Mayville, was sentenced to 3 1/2 years determinate in state prison with 2 1/2 years post-release supervision for second-degree burglary.

Steven Samples, 49, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 7 years in state prison for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Luis Reyes, 33, of South Zebra Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 2 1/2 to 5 years in state prison for third-degree burglary.

Arlene Eichelberger, 38, of Middle Road., Dunkirk, was sentenced to 2-4 years in state prison for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Anthony K. Pogue, 50, of Deer Street, Dunkirk, was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 5 years intensive supervision probation for second-degree assault.

Brandon E. Marx, 30, of Gowanda, was sentenced to 5 years probation, a $1,500 fine and 1 year driver’s license revocation for felony driving while intoxicated.

Kimberly Mazzone, 30, of Jamestown, was senten-ced to 5 years probation for fourth-degree grand larceny.

Joseph R. Rhault, 26, of Clymer, was sentenced to a 1 year conditional discharge for petit larceny.

Brenda L. Horr, 33, of Westfield was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, having no headlights and no insurance on Jan. 30.

Susan L. Lilly, 39, of Fredonia was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree obstruction Jan. 30.

Martha Rosado, 32, of Columbus Avenue was charged with third-degree assault on Jan. 31.

Shaquille Thomas, 18, of Park Avenue was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana Jan. 31 on a previous charge.

Francisco A. Beras, 21, of Main Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, having no insurance and failure to notify DMV of address change on Jan. 31.

Maria A. Rios, 27, of Fredonia was charged with second-degree harassment on Feb. 1.

Timothy P. Kulig, 24, of East Sixth Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Feb. 2.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

ELLINGTON – On Sunday around 6 p.m., Renee L. Paulisick, 38, of Kennedy, was operating a vehicle northbound on Waterboro Hille Road in Ellington when she lost control of her vehicle in the snow and slushy road surface. Police say she overcorrected and went off the east side of the road and the car overturned. Both Paulisick and her passenger, 15-year-old Katrina L. Paulisick, were transported to WCA Hospital by rescue units. The operator was reported uninjured but going to the hospital to be checked, and passenger complained of head and neck pain.

SILVER CREEK – On Monday, a woman was charged with obstuction of governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Around 2 a.m., deputies were assisting Silver Creek Police with an incident. At that time, it is alleged Kim M. Perry, 46, of Silver Creek, did approach officers and attempt to interfere with the arrest of two subjects. After being warned multiple times to leave the area, deputies attempted to place Perry into custody for obstruction of governmental administration. Perry resisted arrest and after a brief struggle was taken into custody, then later released with appearance tickets for the town of Hanover court at a later date.

Dunkirk police respond to

several accidents

Dunkirk Police have responded to several accidents due to the weather recently. On Jan. 23 at 3:50 p.m. James P. Tilly Jr., 70, of West Sixth Street was traveling on Third Street when his vehicle hit an icy patch. His vehicle crossed the center lane and hit a utility pole. There were no injuries reported and no charges were filed. Tilly’s vehicle was towed.

Also on Jan. 23, Robert J. Mokhiber, 40, of King Street was at the intersection of Route 60 and Doughty Street at 12 a.m. A vehicle driven by Rebecca A. Valle, 23, of Lincoln Avenue made a right turn and slid into Mokhiber’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A final accident on Jan. 23, occurred when a vehicle operated by Stephanie W. Hammond, 30, of Smith Court was turning onto Seventh Street at 7:15 a.m. Her vehicle slid into a vehicle operated by James D. Ellman, 45, of Chestnut Road.

Catherine J. Kujawa, 38, of Hoyt Street was traveling on Main Street on Jan. 31 when her vehicle slid into a parked car on a curve at 9:15 p.m.

Cherry Creek man charged with trespass

CHERRY CREEK – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies charged Kevin Pattyson, 22, of Cherry Creek with second-degree criminal trespass.

Occupants at two separate homes on Southside Avenue were awakened by an intruder in their homes on Saturday during the early morning hours. The intruder left both homes without confrontation.

After investigating the incidents, the deputies obtained a warrant for Pattyson. They found him at his home and took him into custody without incident. He was arraigned in the Town of Cherry Creek Court.

Pattyson was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.

Fredonia man charged after auto accident

Late Saturday evening, Robert M. Mooney, 23, was charged with reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies and the Fredonia Police Department investigated an auto accident that occurred in the Penske Trucking parking lot. Investigators report that Mooney was operating his vehicle recklessly in the snow covered parking lot and struck a parked semi trailer. Mooney’s vehicle suffered heavy damage from the collision. Reportedly, Mooney fled the area.

He was located a short distance away and taken into custody. He suffered no injuries. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Pomfret Court at a later date.

Two charged with DWI

FRENCH CREEK – On Sunday, Zoe A. Brooks, 20, of Latrobe, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, having a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, moving from Lane unsafely, and using a handheld electronic device. Her boyfriend, Jesse A. Yates, of Edinboro, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater, and parking on the highway.

Peak’n peak security informed the sheriff’s patrol of a single-vehicle crash on Old Road. Reportedly, Brooks was operating a 2009 Kia while text messaging. She drove off the road and down an embankment. Deputies report she was intoxicated.

Yates reportedly stated he had come to help Brooks. Reportedly his car was parked in the middle of the road at the accident scene when the deputies arrived.

Both were transported to the sheriff’s office in Mayville, processed, and released to a third party. They are scheduled to appear in the Town of French Creek Court at a later date.

FRENCH CREEK – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in solving a snowmobile theft which occurred in French Creek.

On Jan. 27, a blue 2010 Yamaha Nitro RTX SE snowmobile was stolen between noon and 3 p.m. The snowmobile is reported to bear Ohio registration 5C55CE and was located behind the French Creek Tavern, and was parked with numerous other snowmobiles. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have seen the theft occur or may have information about where the snowmobile may be located to call its tip line at 800-78-CRIME (800-782-7463). A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for confidential information leading to an arrest and conviciton. All information will be kept confidential.

BROCTON – Two men were charged following a verbal argument in the village of Brocton early Saturday morning. Deputies were called to a residence on Sequoia Drive at 2 a.m. for a verbal altercation between two males. Upon arrival, deputies found Adam Neubauer, 22, of Ponderosa Drive and Clint Catchot, 19, of Sequoia Drive both intoxicated. Investigation revealed Neubauer had consumed alcohol with Catchot. Neubauer was charged with unlawful dealing with a child and Catchot was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21. Both were released on appearance tickets.

HANOVER – On Thursday, Alberta C. Bogle, 57, of Angell Road, Silver Creek was charged with second-degree harassment.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Angell Road Trailer Park for a harassment complaint. Reportedly, Bogle flicked cigarette ashes on the face of the co-tenant’s daughter after she had threatened to burn up the daughter’s face.

Bogle was charged and issued appearance tickets for the Town of Hanover Court at a later date.

BEMUS – On Friday, Brianna R. Lopez, 24, of Bemus Point was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and inadequate lights.

Deputies stopped her on Route 430 for inadequate headlights, and reportedly found her driving privileges were suspended for failure to answer a summons. She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellery Court later this month.

HANOVER – On Friday, Aaron C. Seitz, 43, of Silver Creek was charged for unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to signal a turn.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle for reportedly failing to signal the turn from Alleghany Road onto Angell Road. Seitz was the driver and sole occupant. Deputies reported smelling marijuana. Seitz was allegedly in possession of a small amount and was taken into custody.

He was released with traffic citations and appearance tickets for Hanover Town Court at a later date.

FRENCH CREEK – On Saturday, Joseph P. Ariste, 46, of Rocky River, Ohio, was charged for refusing a breath test, speed not reasonable for conditions, and moving from a lane unsafely.

The sheriff’s patrol came upon a vehicle which had driven off the road on Canterbury Road near the intersection of Old Road. Ariste was operating the vehicle.

He was taken into custody and then released with appearance tickets. He is scheduled for the Town of French Creek Court at a later date.

Darnell S. Hernandez, 22, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree harassment on Jan. 25. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Shane M. McKay, 19, of Williamsville was charged with second-degree obstruction and trespassing on Jan. 27. He was held at Fredonia Police.

Anthony B. Draves, 22, was charged with disorderly conduct on Jan. 29. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Parker T. Winddancer, 20, of Lawtons was charged with failure to stop at a red light, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of alcohol on Jan. 29. He was released on an appearance ticket.
