Mother allegedly sneaks drugs to son in prison

  • MAYVILLE – A mother allegedly tried to smuggle drugs to her son while he was housed in the Chautauqua County Jail last week.

Laurie A. Schrecengost, 44, of Celoron was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office alleges Laurie passed contraband to her son, Kevin W. Schrecengost, 25, of Celoron who is a current inmate. It is alleged she passed two morphine sulfate pills, two Xanax pills and two oxycodone pills to her son.

Kevin was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Laurie was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and sent to the county jail on $5,000 bail.

DAYTON – Daniel A. Hart, 20, of West Seneca was charged with false personation on Thursday.

Deputies allege Hart repeatedly gave patrol officers a false name during a traffic stop on Route 62 because he thought he had an active warrant out of another jurisdiction. He was released on an appearance ticket for Dayton Town Court.
