Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

On Saturday at around 3 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle stopped on the side of Fredonia Stockton Road in the town of Pomfret.

Deputies stopped to see if the motorist needed assistance.

Jennica Hawley, 21, of Dewittville was found to be allegedly intoxicated and was subsequently arrested.

Hawley refused to take a chemical breath test and was arraigned in Pomfret Town Court.

She was later released and will answer the charge of driving while intoxicated at a later date.

New York State Police at Jamestown

ELLICOTT – On Thursday, New York State Police at Jamestown arrested Jeffrey T. Barden, 32, of Falconer, for driving while intoxicated, after a traffic stop on Horton Road for switched plates.

Barden was administered and failed standardized field sobriety tests after a strong odor of alcohol was detected.

Barden was processed at the Jamestown barracks where a blood alcohol level of .12 percent was obtained.

He was issued traffic tickets for driving while intoxicated returnable to Ellicott Town Court on Friday and released.

The vehicle owner was present and produced a valid temporary registration for the recently purchased vehicle.

Dunkirk Police

Luis Roldan, 43, of Leming Street was charged with having an unregistered motor vehicle on Thursday.

Julio Rivera-Guevara, 35, of Dove Street was charged with failure to yield the right of way, having no insurance and having an uninspected motor vehicle on Friday.

Bethany Kowarko, 21, of Sevierville, Tenn., was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and having an unsafe start on Saturday.

Devon Wilson, 19, of Lord Street was charged with first-degree criminal contempt on Saturday.

Wilfredo Santiago-Rivera, 25, of East Sixth Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no taillight on Sunday.

Luis Torres, 40, of Maple Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation on Sunday.

Fredonia Police

Lamont Smith, 34, of Main Street, Dunkirk, was charged with unlicensed operation on Dec. 23.

According to an accident report, around 1:05 p.m., Jeffrey Martin, 48, of Hanover Road, Silver Creek, was traveling south on Route 60 in the left driving lane. Smith allegedly pulled out of a business’ driveway to turn right onto Route 60 and struck Martin’s passenger side door, causing damage.

Gina Mitchell, 22, of Water Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and using a cell phone while driving on Dec. 24.

Angela Goetz, 30, of West Lucas Avenue was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Thursday.

Frank Zielinski, 26, of Barnum Road, Cassadaga, was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday.

Accident leads to charges

A Thursday accident in the town of Pomfret brought charges against a Warren, Pa., resident.

Jesse Huddleston, 31, was charged with failure to keep right, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident on Route 60 at 6:49 p.m., where allegedly Huddleston had a suspended driver’s license. He was also found to be allegedly in possession of a collapsible baton.

He had an outstanding warrant from the Lakewood- Busti Police Department and was turned over to them.

Rollover sends one to hospital

VILLENOVA – A rollover accident sent a driver to the hospital Saturday.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident on South Dayton Silver Creek Road at 2:46 p.m.

Jane Schimek, 20, of Cherry Creek allegedly lost control of her vehicle, traveling onto the shoulder of the road. The vehicle then struck a large tree and rolled onto its side, coming to rest against a barn.

Schimek was taken to Lake Shore Hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. Alstar Ambulance, the South Dayton and Forestville fire departments responded to the scene.

Woman allegedly paid her utility bills with non-profit’s money

GOWANDA – A 44-year-old Gowanda woman was charged Dec. 10 with petit larceny after police say she paid her utility bills from a non-profit agency’s bank account without permission.

According to the Gowan-da Police Department, Ann-marie Redeye, of Walnut Street, allegedly paid an electric bill and a cell phone bill using the agency’s bank account. She was contacted and provided the opportunity to reimburse the agency for the lost funds.

When she allegedly failed to reimburse the agency after three weeks, she was arrested and released on an appearance ticket for Persia Town Court.

Christmas Eve burglary results in arrest

GOWANDA – Forty-four-year-old Paula Lawton was charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny and intent to defraud without paying after she allegedly broke into an acquaintance’s residence to find money to pay for a taxi cab ride on Tuesday.

According to the Gowan-da Police Department, at 6:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at 83 Buffalo St.

Police say Lawton had no money to pay for a taxi ride, so she allegedly kicked in a basement window to gain entry into the residence. The resident was not home at the time and thus did not grant permission for Lawton to enter the home.

Lawton had taken a taxi cab from the city of Buffalo because she had been released from the Erie County Holding Center on another incident. Lawton allegedly stole money from a piggy bank in an effort to pay for the cab.

She was arraigned in Collins Town Court and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

Michael Foster, 49, of Cassadaga was charged Friday with felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, refusal of a chemical breath test and failure to dim high beams.

At 2:36 a.m., deputies stopped Foster’s vehicle on Route 20 in Pomfret for allegedly turning its high beams on while approaching an oncoming vehicle. Foster was found to be allegedly intoxicated during the traffic stop, and due to his driving record, these charges were felonies. He was arraigned in Pomfret Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

Wire thief hits fire box alarms

JAMESTOWN – Some-one with a desperate need for a lot of wire is causing a minor headache for Jamestown public safety crews.

Jamestown Police are currently investigating several separate reports of larcenies involving the theft of wire from the Jamestown Fire Department’s box alarms throughout the city.

The subject is reportedly using a bucket truck to access the wires on the poles. They are then disconnecting and cutting the wire for theft. One report included the areas of Isabella Avenue, Clinton Street, Lafayette Street and West 10th Street, where it is estimated that about 1,000 feet of wire was removed from the poles.

When the wire was cut it triggered a notification with the Jamestown Fire Department, which then sent a maintenance crew that discovered the larceny. A source advised the Jamestown Police that they saw a white bucket truck in the area all morning prior to the larceny.

Jamestown Police are also investigating a similar theft from the Willard Street, Barrows Street and Benedict Avenue area of the city.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance with the investigation by calling the JPD at 483-75347 or 483-TIPS. The public is asked to call if they have any information on who may be responsible or if they have observed a white bucket truck in these areas.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

On Thursday around 2:16 a.m. sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a vehicle going off the roadway into a tree at the intersection of Temple Road and Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk.

By the time deputiess arrived, the driver of the vehicle had left the scene.

Upon investigation the driver of the vehicle Mark Petz, 30, of Pittsburgh, Pa. was located by deputies.

Further investigation showed that Petz was intoxicated and he was taken into custody.

Petz was issued tickets for moving from lane unsafely, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, blood alcohol level of .16 percent or higher, and released.

He will be in the Town of Dunkirk Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

CHARLOTTE – On Dec. 20 at about 6:30 p.m. deputies responded to a property damage accident on Johnson Road in the town of Charlotte.

Deputies found the vehicle had been abandoned. According to witnesses, the driver fled into a wooded area. Sheriff’s K9 Drago conducted a search of the woods and was able to track the driver to a nearby roadway.

The driver was later identified as Tyler C Morrison, 26, of Sugar Grove, Pa.

He was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, unsafe lane change, speed unreasonable, failure to keep right, and unlicensed operation.

Morrison was arraigned in the Town of Charlotte court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail.

SHERIDAN – On Thursday at about 11:20 p.m. deputies received a call in regard to a vehicle off the road in the ditch on King Road in the town of Sheridan.

Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the operator of the vehicle, Jesse Sherwood, 27, of Silver Creek.

Sherwood’s vehicle had been traveling east on King Road before leaving the roadway and coming to rest in the ditch facing the west direction.

After investigation deputies found that he was driving while intoxicated.

Sherwood was taken into custody and charged with moving from lane unsafely, driving while intoxicated, and refusing to take a breath test.

He was arraigned in the Town of Pomfret Court due to the Sheridan Court being unavailable.

Sherwood was later released to appear at a later time in the Town of Sheridan Court.

Damian Buchanan, 23, of Woodrow Avenue was charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespass on Dec. 19.

Charles Rosario, 29, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to obey a traffic control device on Dec. 20.

Marvin Harvey, 22, of Maple Avenue was charged with fifth-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Dec. 20.

Javier Hernandez-Gonzalez, 23, of Bennett Road was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, fifth-degree possession of marijuana, no headlights and no wipers on Dec. 20.

Noel Rodriguez, 33, of Maple Avenue was charged with fifth-degree possession of marijuana on Dec. 20.

Devon Wilson, 19, of Lord Street was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, aggravated harassment and aggravated family offense on Dec. 20.

Orlando Rodriguez, 51, of Lincoln Avenue Lower was charged with driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and following too closely on Dec. 21.

According to an accident report, around 8 p.m., Nicole Donato, 35, of Woodrow Avenue was stopped for a red light on East Fourth Street at Washington Avenue. When it turned green, she started westbound. Rodriguez was also westbound and allegedly didn’t stop in time to avoid a collision, rear-ending Donato’s vehicle.

An investigation allegedly revealed Rodriguez to be intoxicated, with a beer located in the center console.

Lorrie Skelly, 46, of West Main Street, Fredonia, was charged with driving while intoxicated and moving from a lane unsafely on Dec. 21.

Zuldeymi Heyliger-Martinez, 23, of East Main Road, Fredonia, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to use a designated lane on Sunday.

According to an accident report, around 8 a.m., Heyliger-Martinez was traveling north on Central Avenue just north of East Seventh Street when she was following a vehicle that made a right turn in front of her without using its signal, which caused her to swerve around the vehicle and strike a light pole.

Benjamin Caraballo, 35, of Park Avenue was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no headlights on Tuesday.

Eric DePasquale, 29, of South Margay Street was charged with unlicensed operation on Tuesday.

According to an accident report, DePasquale was traveling east on West Doughty Street around 9:40 a.m. and was going to make a left turn onto Lincoln Avenue. He allegedly slid through the stop sign and struck another vehicle that was entering the intersection.

Ryan Falco, 29, of West Main Street Upper, Brocton, was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance on Thursday.

Evans police probe fatal

EVANS – The town of Evans Police Accident Investigation Unit is probing a fatal motor vehicle versus train collision.

According to a report from the Evans Police Department, police and fire dispatchers received a call about a collison at the crossing on Eden Evans Center Road near Delamater Road Tuesday at 1:06 p.m.

Evans Police, the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company and Rural Metro Medical Services were dispatched to the scene.

First responders found a single vehicle versus train collision along the Norfolk Southern tracks. The driver of the motor vehicle was fatally injured. The operator’s name is being withheld, pending notification of family.

The Highland Hose, North Evans and Lake Erie Beach Fire Companies, Norfolk Southern Railroad, Norfolk Southern Police and Evans Mechanical Services also responded.

Search continues for missing woman

GOWANDA – Authorities are continuing their search for a missing Gowanda woman.

Kimberly A. Militello, 59, was last seen at her residence, 10527 Maltbie Road, Sunday evening. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 80 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a gray long-sleeve T-shirt with black lettering. She is believed to be on foot.

Pennsylvania man charged with DWI

following accident

SHERMAN – A Pennsylvania man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a one-vehicle accident Christmas Eve.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel P. Hido, 25, of Girard, Pa., was the operator of a vehicle that left the roadway on I-86 at 7:04 p.m.

It was found that Hido was allegedly intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or more and moving from lane unsafely.

He will appear in Sherman Town Court at a later date.

Christopher Malone, 20, of Canadaway Street Lower was charged with hosting a social event with alcohol and individuals under the age of 21 on Dec. 15.

Robert Cecchini, 19, of Williamsville, Steven Lewis, 19, of Brockport, and Adam Braid, 22, of Johnson, were all charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Dec. 16.

Julio DeJesus, 17, of Temple Street was charged with second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief on Dec. 17.

Isaiah Ryan, 21, of SUNY Fredonia’s McGinnies Hall, was charged with disorderly conduct on Dec. 19.

Lauralee Lewetzki, 35, of Route 60 was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Dec. 19.

Zachary Cole, 19, of Spring Street was charged with following too closely on Dec. 19.

Christopher Wawro Jr., 18, of Birchwood Drive was charged with hosting a social event with alcohol and individuals under the age of 21, unlawful possession of alcohol and a violation of a noise ordinance on Friday.

Tyler Shear, 19, of King Road, Forestville, was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol, littering and possessing an open container of alcohol on Friday.

Lori Gramlich, 51, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Ciara Bradley, 20, of Cleveland Avenue, were both charged with second-degree harassment on Saturday.

Erin Goodwin, 30, of Franklin Avenue, Dunkirk, was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no headlights on Saturday.

City man, 33, facing

several drug charges

CHAUTAUQUA – On Friday at 5:30 p.m., officers of the Dunkirk Police Department located and arrested Noel Rodriguez, 33, of Dunkirk, who had an outstanding Chautauqua County Grand Jury indictment warrant charging him seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree criminal sale of controlled substance.

Rodriguez was taken into custody and at the time was found to be in possession of cocaine.

He had been indicted after Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley’s office presented information from the members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

Rodriguez was taken to the City of Dunkirk Jail and then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.

He is pending arraignment.

This arrest culminates an investigation into cocaine trafficking in the City of Dunkirk that has been ongoing for several months.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

SILVER CREEK – On Monday at around 12:13 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed over the posted limit.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator of the vehicle identified himself as Joshua C. Stull, 37, of Silver Creek. Further investigation found that Stull had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Stull was taken into custody by deputies and charged with driving while intoxicated common law, driving while intoxicated per se, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .18 percent or higher, and speeding zone. He was issued traffic tickets and released to a sober part.

JAMESTOWN – On Dec. 19, Ruth Santiago, 30, of Dunkirk and Ricardo Garcia, 26, of Dunkirk were issued appearance tickets for third-degree welfare fraud, first-degree offering a false instrument, and two counts of misuse of food stamps.

Allegedly the couple failed to report income from Nov. 1, 2012 to Feb. 28, 2013. This failure resulted in the couple receiving more than $4,000 in unentitled benefits.

Santiago and Garcia are scheduled to appear in the City of Jamestown Court.

New York State Police, Jamestown

SINCLAIRVILLE – On Friday, New York State Police Jamestown arrested James G. Hancock, 52, of Sinclairville for drug possession.

Hancock was observed failing to stop at a stop sign and subsequently found to be in possession of 20 grams of marijuana and a smoking device containing marijuana residue.

Hancock was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to stop for a stop sign returnable to the Town of Charlotte Court on Jan. 7.

VILLENOVA – On Sunday, State Police Jamestown troopers arrested Harmony Griffin, 37, of Buffalo, for driving while intoxicated after he was stopped for speeding on Route 83 in the Town of Villenova. Griffin provided a breath sample of .15 percent BAC.

He was charged with DWI and speeding and released. Griffin is to appear in the Town of Villenova Court on Jan 2.

JAMESTOWN – New York State Police Jamestown is investigating the theft of a specialized $500 red bicycle taken from the porch of a residence on Route 394 in Kennedy on Sunday.

Evans man, 52, fatal victim

in hit-and-run

EVANS – The Town of Evans Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run accident.

Overnight Sunday, the victim, identified as 52-year-old Barry Moss of Evans, was walking on the westbound side of Route 5 (Erie Road) near Gold Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west. The vehicle left the scene and it was several hours before the victim’s body was located.

Evans Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle, reported to be a newer Ford SUV with front passenger and side passenger damage.

The area where the victim was hit is known for car/deer accidents. If someone hit something and believes they may have hit a deer or some other animal, they are asked to contact the Evans Police Department as soon as possible.

Man charged under Leandra’s Law

BUSTI – A 37-year-old Jamestown man was charged Saturday with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child less than 16 in the vehicle.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:15 p.m., Angel Ormsby’s vehicle was stopped by deputies on Busti Still Water Road for speeding.

Upon investigation, Ormsby was allegedly found to be intoxicated. Deputies also observed that Ormsby had a back-seat passenger under the age of 16 at the time of the stop.

Ormsby was taken into custody and arraigned in Busti Town Court. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 property bond.

Other charges include driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, back seat passenger age 4-7 with no or improper restraint and speeding in zone.

New York State Police at Jamestown

POLAND – On Dec. 16, New York State Police arrested Kyle M. Samuel-son, 20, of Conewango Valley, for drug possession.

Subsequent to a traffic stop on Interstate 86 in the town of Poland for inoperable headlight and no plate lamp, Samuelson was allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana.

He was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana returnable to the Town of Poland Court and released.

NORTH HARMONY – On Dec. 15, troopers arrested Olin A. Madison Jr., 46, of Corry, Pa., for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Subsequent to a traffic stop for no seatbelt, which occurred on Interstate 86, Madison was allegedly found in possession of a dagger.

He was processed in Jamestown, where he posted $100 bail and was released.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

STOCKTON – Peter McTaggart, 23, of Sin-clairville, Frank Orazio, 23, of Stockton, and Christopher Harding, 29, of Sinclairville, were all charged Saturday with petit larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and trespassing.

The charges stem from a scrap metal larceny that occurred on Sept. 21 on Bear Lake Road in the town of Stockton.

McTaggart and Orazio were released with appearance tickets for Stockton Town Court. Harding, currently in the Chautauqua County Jail on unrelated charges, will answer the charges at a later date.

CHAUTAUQUA – Joseph Spas, 55, of Ashville was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or greater and failure to keep right on Saturday.

Around 9 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 394 in the town of Chautauqua for allegedly failing to keep right. The operator, who was identified as Spas, was allegedly found to be intoxicated.

Spas was taken into custody and later released with uniform traffic tickets. He will appear in Chautauqua Town Court to answer the charges.

SILVER CREEK – State Police arrested Hunter J. Eggleston, 19, of Silver Creek, for unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in Olean.

He is to appear in City of Olean Court on Jan. 16.

Grease fire reported in Forestville

FORESTVILLE – Firefighters were called to a grease fire on a home at the corner of Meadows Road and Route 83 Saturday night.

According to Forestville Fire Department Fire Chief Bruce Hagmier, the family left a greasy pan cooking on the stove and it caused a fire.

“We investigated the home and found fire damage to the stove and walls,” Hagmier said. “We had to take the stove out of the home and call the code enforcement officer.”

The resident will be staying elsewhere while the code enforcement officer investigates the damage.

SHERIDAN – Christin Tibbetts, 22 of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny on Thursday.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in August where Tibbetts allegedly broke into a garage and stole property valued over $1,000.

He was arraigned in Dunkirk Town Court and send to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

IRVING – Nicole Marie Esner, 41, of Shady Drive was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Thursday.

At 3:15 a.m. deputies were called to a residence on Shady Drive to assist on an EMS call. While there, deputies allegedly found a quantity of marijuana in plain view.

Esner will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

SILVER CREEK – On Friday David Sodaro, 55, of Silver Creek allegedly damaged property by using his body to break a front door window.

Deputies allege Sodaro pulled out a large pocket knife and started waving it in a threatening manner at his girlfriend. He also threatened his girlfriend further by throwing the knife and sticking it in the floor.

Sodaro also allegedly broke a large window located in the front of the residence.

Sodaro was arraigned in Silver Creek court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

STOCKTON – On Friday at about 8:40 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a seasonal residence on Barnes Road in the Town of Stockton.

Upon arrival Deputies and Sheriff K9 located household items that had been removed from the residence. Sheriff’s K9 Drago was deployed into a wooded area in attempt to track the alleged burglar.

After a lengthily track over various terrain Jason Perittie, 26, of Jamestown was apprehended.

Perittie was arrested for second degree burglary and fourth degree grand larceny.

CHAUTAUQUA – On Friday Dominick Luciano, 30, of Jamestown was stopped for allegedly speeding in excess of 80 mph on Route 394 in the Town of Chautauqua.

Further investigation found Luciano to be intoxicated and was charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated.

Deputies said Luciano had a prior conviction for DWI in the previous 10 years making this arrest a felony.

On Friday at about 11:15 p.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies observed a vehicle operating on Route 20 in the Town of Pomfret.

The vehicle was observed to have a discernibly loud and leaking exhaust, and had no right sideview mirror. Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver identified himself as Christopher A. Parker, 28, of Wattsburg, Pa.

A check of Parker’s license showed that his New York driving privileges were suspended.

Further investigation allegedly revealed that Parker was in possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana and multiple smoking pipes. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, inadequate muffler, and no right side mirror.

He was issued citations and appearance tickets and will appear in Town of Pomfret court at a later date.

BROCTON – On Saturday at about 1:46 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies observed a vehicle allegedly failing to maintain its lane and having inadequate tail lamps while traveling in the Village of Brocton.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the operator identified himself as Peter G. Galardo, 32, of Fredonia.

A check of Galardo’s license showed that his New York driving privileges were suspended.

Further investigation allegedly found Galardo to be intoxicated.

Galardo was charged with two counts of DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, failed to keep right and inadequate tail lamps.

He will appear in the Town of Pomfret court at a later date.

MAYVILLE – On Saturday at about 7:30 a.m. deputies responded to a residence in Mayville for a possible burglary in progress.

Before police arrived, the subject fled the scene. Deputies were able to locate the subject behind a business in Mayville who was identified as Joshua A Powell, 28, of Mayville.

Upon investigation, it is alleged that Powell did not have permission to be in the dwelling and attempted to remove multiple items from the residence.

After placing Powell in custody, he was also allegedly found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Powell was arraigned and is in the custody of the Chautauqua County Jail.

PORTLAND – On Friday at 1:45 p.m. Deputies responded to a one-car accident on Prospect-Station Road at the intersection of Finley Road.

According to deputies, driver Andrew K. Davidson, 39, of Westfield was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to make a right hand turn onto Finley Road from Prospect-Station Road.

The vehicle crossed over Finley Road and hit a snow bank and then crashed into trees.

During the interview of Davidson it was determined that he was intoxicated and was arrested for DWI.

A check of Davidson’s driving record showed two prior convictions for DWI, which makes this arrest a felony.

Davidson was further charged with unreasonable speed, refusal to submit to a breath test and driving out of restrictions.

LEON – On Dec. 12, Deputies with the Cattaraugus Sheriff’s responded to an incident at an address in Leon for an accidental shooting.

Investigation revealed the handgun used in the shooting was not registered and the owner did not possess a valid New York State pistol permit.

Eli Wengerd, 20, of Leon was arrested Thursday and issued an appearance ticket.

Wengerd is scheduled to appear in Leon Court at a later date.

Jamie Waclawski, 38, of Lake Shore Drive East was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failing to stop at a stop sign on Monday.

Scott Munson, 44, of Birchwood Drive, Fredonia, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated per se on Monday.

Linda Duckworth, 55, of Washington Avenue was charged with petit larceny on Tuesday.

Kimberly Swartz, 37, of Lakeview Avenue Lower, Fredonia, was charged with identity theft, unlawful possession of personal identification and petit larceny on Wednesday.

Brittnay Curtis, 19, of Ruggles Street was charged with unlicensed operation and failing to stop at a red light on Wednesday.

According to an accident report, around 1:15 p.m., Maria Hernandez, 40, of East Second Street was traveling westbound on East Second Street with the traffic signal at the intersection with Main Street in her favor. Curtis was traveling northbound on Main Street and allegedly slid into the intersection and failed to stop for the traffic light that was red for her.

Larry Casey, 23, of Park Avenue was charged with resisting arrest, two counts of obstruction and unlawful possession of marijuana on Wednesday.

Jonathan Rodriguez, 27, of Webster Street was charged with forcible touching and second-degree sexual abuse on Thursday.

Andre McQuiggan, 17, of Townsend Street was charged with obstruction of breathing on Thursday.

Edward Perez Masonet, 27, of Dunkirk was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Thursday.

SILVER CREEK – Richard Kniese, 55, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment on Tuesday. The charge is a result of an investigation into an incident on Dec. 15. Kniese allegedly called a business and left an offensive message on the answering machine. He will appear in Silver Creek Village Court at a later date.

  • Richard Patterson, 22, of Brocton, was sentenced to two to six years in state prison for third-degree burglary.
  • Gregory E. Darling, 55, of Jamestown, was sentenced to two years in state prison and one and a half years of post release supervision for third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • Mark Schulenberg, 30, of Dunkirk, was sentenced to one and a third to four years in state prison for fourth-degree grand larceny consecutive with six months in jail for petit larceny.
  • Zachiel L. Fields, 34, of Jamestown, was sentenced to one year determinate in jail for violation of probation consecutive with six months in jail for a second violation of probation.
  • Robin Smith, 40, of Jamestown, was sentenced to 105 days in jail, a $2,000 fine and five years probation for felony driving while intoxicated.
  • Bianca Mojica, 21, of Dunkirk, was sentenced to time served and five years probation for second-degree attempted assault.
  • Steven D. Douglas, 25, of Buffalo, was sentenced to five years probation for fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Minor explosion reported in Town of Brant

BRANT – State Police from Collins responded to a 911 call report of an explosion Tuesday afternoon at the Renaldo Sales and Service building in the Town of Brant.

An employee was injured while conducting maintenance on a propane delivery truck. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Lawrence P. Szal from Eden sustained burns to his face, hands and legs.

Prior to the explosion, Szal was working near the rear of the tanker truck, when residual fumes inside the tank ignited, causing the explosion. Co-workers were able to extinguish the fire while removing Szal and providing him treatment.

Rural Metro transported Szal to Lake Shore Hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Fire companies from the Town of Brant and Farnham responded to the scene along with Town of Brant Police and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office who also were on hand to assist.

Teenager charged with DWI following accident

HANOVER – A 17-year-old Forestville male has been charged with driving while intoxicated and driving across hazard markings on Sunday following a single-vehicle accident.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Bradigan Road for a vehicle off the road. Deputies observed the truck had also struck a utility pole and the youth was found to be allegedly intoxicated.

The male was released to his mother and will appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.

SILVER CREEK – Ralph Crawford, 47, of Silver Creek was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving from lane unsafely on Sunday. At 7:06 p.m. deputies observed a vehicle veer off the road and go into a ditch on Central Avenue.

The driver, Crawford, was found to be allegedly intoxicated. He will appear in Silver Creek Village Court at a later date.

Westfield Police

An 18-year-old Mayville male was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of alcohol under 21 on Sunday.

At 2:42 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on South Portage Street for an alleged traffic infraction. During the stop, it was found the 18 year old was a passenger in the vehicle and allegedly was in possession of alcohol and a small quantity of marijuana.

The male will appear in Westfield Village Court at a later date.

Fredonia Village Court

The Fredonia Village Court has released its report for the month of November.

Justice David Prince and Justice Nancy Dietzen closed 217 cases during that time. Of that amount, 114 were vehicle and traffic cases, 37 were criminal, 53 were regarding village ordinances, three were civil matters and 10 were alcohol-related.

The total amount of fees collected was $18,819.50. Of that amount, $2,795 was for parking tickets.

Route 5 accident injures two

BRANT – A two-car accident on Route 5 sent two individuals to the hospital Saturday morning. According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle driven by Lori Burgos, 50, of Lackawanna was traveling west when she lost control and entered into the eastbound lane at 9:30 a.m. Her vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Tracey Irvin, 53, of Silver Creek. Burgos was transported by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. A passenger in the vehicle, Debbie Higgins, 58, of Derby was taken to Lakeshore Hospital for minor injuries. Irvin was uninjured. Farnham Fire Company also responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

SHERIDAN – Roy G. Lobell, 74, of Westfield was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right on Tuesday. Deputies responded to an accident on Center Road at 7:35 p.m. Lobell’s vehicle allegedly was traveling south and left the roadway coming to rest on its side in a ditch. Lobell was found to be allegedly intoxicated but was uninjured. He will appear in Sheridan Town Court at a later date.

HANOVER – Mary M. Przybyl, 57, of Angola was charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child on Friday. At 8 p.m. deputies responded to a resident on Beebe Road. Przybyl allegedly grabbed another individual and pulled her to the ground while the individual was holding a 1-year-old child and another young child was a witness. Przybyl was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

Man charged with abandoning chihuahua

LAKEWOOD – The man allegedly responsible for abandoning a female Chihuahua inside a thermal bag was charged Friday with animal cruelty.

According to the Chautauqua County Humane Society Cruelty Investigations Unit, Jose Carmona Gomez of Jamestown was allegedly determined to be the individual responsible for placing the Chihuahua named Tinkerbell inside a Coors Light thermal bag on Monday, and leaving it for dead along Southwestern Drive in Lakewood.

Gomez is scheduled to appear in Busti Court at a later date.

Ray Muniz Jr., cruelty investigator with the Humane Society, said he thanks all the individuals who have wished Tinkerbell well and that he looks forward to placing her in a good home when the time comes.

Sheriff’s office investigating reported burglary

BEMUS POINT – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported burglary that occurred early Wednesday at the Bemus Point Golf Course.

Deputies responded to an alarm at the golf course and deputies found someone had allegedly broken into the clubhouse and was scared off when the alarm went off.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the WeTip hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (7463).

Omar Calixto, 23, of Bronx was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Dec. 6.

According to an accident report, around 2:45 a.m., Calixto was traveling south on Prospect Street when he left the roadway and struck a chain link fence that borders the Prospect Street Playground.

Calixto continued south through the playground and left ruts in the lawn as the result of his tires. He allegedly left the scene and did not report the accident.

David Nichols, 19, of West Main Street was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol, littering and possessing an open container of alcohol on Sunday.

Alex Cleland, 19, of Clarence was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday.

Nicholas Wilson, 19, of SUNY Fredonia’s Disney Hall, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Tuesday.

John Carlton, 20, of Stone Road, Fredonia, was charged with unlicensed operation and no taillights on Dec. 6.

A two-car accident occurred on Sunday at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive East and South Roberts Road.

According to an accident report, Nicholas Rollins, 24, of North Pangolin Street was traveling west on Lake Shore Drive East and Joann Mancuso, 66, of North Beaver Street was facing north and was stopped at a stop sign at South Roberts Road and Lake Shore Drive East.

Mancuso proceeded to go straight across Lake Shore Drive East and allegedly did not see Rollins, thus striking his vehicle’s left rear quarter panel. Mancuso’s vehicle had damage done to the right front headlight and quarter panel.

JAMESTOWN – Chad M. Whittington, 33, of Lakewood was charged with petit larceny, fraudulent receipt of benefits and misuse of food stamps on Wednesday.

It is alleged Whittington failed to report employment or income to the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services from Dec. 1, 2012 to March 31. Whittington received $1,098.68 in unentitled Medicaid and food stamp benefits as a result of this unreported income. He is to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later.

JAMESTOWN – Paul D. Surrena, 46, of Jamestown was charged with first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, second-degree criminal impersonation, driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs, unlicensed operation and unregistered vehicle.

At 2:45 a.m. deputies stopped Surrena’s vehicle at Martin Road and Foote Avenue for an alleged unregistered vehicle. During the stop, Surrena was found to be impaired by the combined effects of alcohol and drugs. Surrena later contacted police admitting to allegedly giving police the wrong name and date of birth.

He will appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

City drug bust nets woman, 58

A Dunkirk woman was arrested Monday night and charged on an outstanding warrant.

Debra Faison, 58, of 109 Zebra St., was charged with one count each of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree.

The warrant was issued after members of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force brought information to the court that Faison has sold cocaine to agents of the STRDTF on numerous occasions in the city of Dunkirk.

This arrest culminates an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine in the city that was conducted by the STRDTF over the course of the last several months. As a result of this investigation additional information has been obtained and additional investigations are anticipated due to this arrest. Investigators received information from the community pertaining to this investigation that assisted the agents.

Faison was arrested without incident by Dunkirk Police at 8:19 p.m. on Fifth Street. Faison was being held in the city of Dunkirk jail pending arraignment before City Court Judge Walter Drag.

in one day

GOWANDA – A Gowanda man was taken into custody on two separate arrest warrants on the same day.

According to Gowanda Police Department, Quinton P. Jones, 34, of Aldrich Street was taken into custody at 8 a.m. on Friday for Collins Town Court arrest warrant.

Police had previously arrested Jones for disorderly conduct and child endangerment and when he failed to pay his fines, the warrant was issued. Jones was taken into custody, arraigned and released after paying his fines.

Later that afternoon at 1:31 p.m. police stopped Jones’ vehicle on Sandhill Road. A separate arrest warrant for disorderly conduct was issued from Persia Town Court when Jones allegedly failed to pay his fines.

During the traffic stop, it was found that Jones was allegedly operating without a valid license or an alcohol interlock system.

Through a DMV check, it was found Jones had a revoked license for a prior driving while intoxicated charge requiring him to have a interlock system installed.

He was additionally charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a vehicle without an alcohol interlock system.

Jones was arraigned in Persia Town Court on the warrant and released after paying his fines. Jones was arraigned in Collins Town Court for the traffic charges and sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

MINA – Taylor Bennett, 25, of Erie, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from a lane unsafely and leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Friday.

Around 2:30 a.m., deputies responded to a vehicle off the road on Interstate 86. Upon arrival, the alleged operator, Bennett, had fled the scene and was later located at a nearby hotel.

An investigation showed that Bennett had lost control on the snow-covered roadway and had struck a highway sign.

Bennett allegedly failed to report the accident when he had an opportunity to do so at the hotel, and instead called for a tow truck.

Bennett was taken into custody and refused a breath test, which will resulted in the immediate suspension of his license.

He will appear in Mina Town Court.

RIPLEY – Cody Rater, 18, of Ripley was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Saturday.

Around 9:41 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on Lakeview Avenue due to the vehicle not matching the number registered to its license plates. After an investigation, Rater was allegedly found to be in possession of multiple smoking pipes and marijuana.

Rater will appear in Ripley Town Court.

Gowanda Police Department

Gunnar J. Dole, 21, of East Main Street was charged with petit larceny on Nov. 25.

Police received a report of shoplifting of a village business where Dole had allegedly observed stealing items from the business. He was released to appear in Collins Town Court. When Dole allegedly failed to appear in court, an arrest warrant was issued. Dole was arrested on Dec. 6 on this warrant and was arraigned. He was sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Marquis D. Chase, 30, of Buffalo was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Nov. 28. Chase was an occupant of a suspicious vehicle parking in a church parking lot at 1:30 a.m. on East Main Street. He was found to be in alleged possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was released to appear in Collins Town Court.

James R. Freeman, 19, of Johnson Street was charged with a violation of probation on an arrest warrant on Dec. 3. Freeman had been wanted from Cattaraugus County Court and turned himself into police. He was turned over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

JAMESTOWN – On Friday, troopers Daniel Alaimo and Clifford Beau-mont responded to a residence in Findley Lake for a report of a domestic dispute.

Gary Rafaloski, 59, of Findley Lake, in an intoxicated condition, pushed the female victim several times, thus violating the order of protection that was issued against Rafaloski forbidding him from committing such acts.

He was arrested for first degree criminal contempt, transported to SP Jamestown and processed.

He was then arraigned in the Town of Mina Court, remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail, and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Mina Court on a later date to answer the charge.

Gowanda man, 27, busted for possession of coke, morphine

GOWANDA – A 27-year-old Gowanda man was arrested for allegedly possessing three baggies containing 1.5 grams of powder cocaine, as well as five morphine pills during a traffic stop on Torrance Place on Dec. 1.

According to the Go-wanda Police Department, around 3:40 a.m., Joshua Satterfield of Route 39 was stopped by police after being observed operating a vehicle with a loud exhaust. A computer check revealed Satterfield’s license had been suspended on four occasions since June 2012 for his failure to answer summons and pay fines in the Perrysburg and Persia town courts.

Satterfield was charged with fourth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, having a loud exhaust and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. The fourth-degree charge is a felony for the cocaine.

Satterfield was arraigned in Persia Town Court and released after posting $400 bail.

Choking leads to charges

for Irving man

HANOVER – A 38-year-old Irving man was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child on Saturday after he allegedly choked a female subject in the presence of a small child.

According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:50 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic incident on Anne Street in Sunset Bay. Upon arrival and interviews with witnesses, Richard Charboneau of Anne Street was taken into custody and arraigned in Hanover Town Court on the above charges.

Charboneau was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on $1,000 cash bail and will appear back in court at a later date.

Brocton woman charged with DWI after accident

PORTLAND – A 76-year-old Brocton woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after failing to stop for a stop sign and crashing into a ditch Saturday afternoon.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 5:35 p.m., deputies responded to the accident on Route 5 and determined Karlene Taylor of Highland Avenue was traveling north on Lake Avenue and failed to stop at the stop sign at Lake Avenue and Route 5. Taylor then traveled through the intersection and into a ditch on the north side of Route 5.

Taylor was taken into custody, was released and will appear in Portland Town Court.

The Brocton Emergency Medical Services Team also responded to the accident.

IRVING – On Nov. 25, troopers charged Bradley Morlock, 21, of Derby with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Morlock’s car was stopped on State Route 20 at Milestrip Road and while speaking with him, troopers saw a marijuana pipe.

An investigation found another pipe and a small amount of marijuana inside a prescription bottle.

Morlock is due in Brant Town Court.

COLLINS – On Nov. 30, troopers arrested Joseph Gugino, 55, of Gowanda for nine counts of possession of a hypodermic needle.

After troopers stopped him for speeding, they had him submit to a chemical test and found his license has been revoked after a computer check.

Troopers found the needles in his pants pocket prior to taking him into custody.

He was processed at the Collins barracks and is due in Collins Town Court later this month.

COLLINS – On Nov. 30 troopers charged Nicholas Smith, 30, of Gowanda with unlawful possession of marijuana.

He was stopped on Richardson Road for not wearing his seatbelt, and troopers found him in possession of 6 grams of marijuana.

Smith is due in Collins Town Court.

BRANT – On Dec. 1 troopers charged Hillarey Schultz, 37, of Fredonia with unlawful possession of marijuana. She was stopped on Route 20 and while troopers were speaking with her they saw the metal pipe with marijuana in it in the ashtray.

She is due in Brant Town Court.

SOUTH DAYTON – On Dec. 1 troopers arrested Michael Gould, 31, of Forestville for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having prescription medication outside the original container.

Gould was stopped for numerous traffic violations and while speaking with him troopers saw the prescription bottle with the label torn off in the glove box.

Troopers found nine codeine tablets, a controlled substance.

Gould was processed at the Collins barracks and is due in South Dayton Court at a later date.

PERRYSBURG – On Dec. 2, troopers arrested James Wheat, 24, of Gowanda for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers were called to a Buffalo Street home by an unknown disturbance call.

Upon arrival, they found Wheat and his girlfriend were in the process of moving out of the home, when Wheat and his girlfriend’s mom got into an argument.

After packing their belongings, his girlfriend’s mother went into their room to see if they had left anything behind and found numerous items with cocaine residue on them. Wheat claimed ownership of the items and was arrested.

He was processed at the Collins barracks and is due back in Perrysburg Town Court at a later date.

COLLINS – On Thurs-day, troopers charged Bradley Young, 26, of Irving with unlawful possession of marijuana.

His car was stopped and troopers found he only had a permit.

Troopers also found him in possession of a glass pipe with marijuana in it and a baggy containing two grams of marijuana.

Young is due in Collins Town Court.

BRANT – On Friday, troopers arrested Kelly Nephew, 19, of Gowanda on a bench warrant from the Collins Town Court.

The warrant was for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and traffic violations.

Troopers stopped him on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation for speeding and having an expired inspection.

A computer check also revealed there was an active bench warrant from the Hamburg Town Court for petit larceny.

Troopers processed him at the Collins barracks, adding charges of third-degree bail jumping. Nephew was arraigned in Collins Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center on a $1,000 bail.

GERRY – On Friday deputies responded to Old Chautauqua Road in the Town of Gerry for the report of an altercation between two people.

Theodore Daughenbaugh, 50, of Sinclairville allegedly struck another person in the head with an alarm clock.

Daughenbaugh was issued an appearance ticket for second-degree harassment and will answer the charge in the Town of Gerry Court.

HANOVER – On Saturday at 2 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies responded to a report of a disorderly subject at the Lighthouse Inn in the Town of Hanover.

Leta R. Halftown, 43, of Perrysburg allegedly became disorderly inside a motel room, which consisted of her throwing items and causing damage.

During this act there was a young child present in the room.

Halftown was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child along with disorderly conduct.

She was taken into custody and later released with appearance tickets.

She will answer the charges in Hanover Town Court.

JAMESTOWN – On Thursday at 10 p.m. Peter J. Shaw-Brougham Jr., 19, of Jamestown was arrested by the Jamestown Police Department on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Randolph Court.

Shaw-Brougham is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of petit larceny. He was turned over to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and taken to the Town of Randolph Court for arraignment.

He was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

GERRY – Wigberto Torres Rodriguez, 61, of Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, crossing the hazard lines and driving on shoulder on Nov. 30.

Deputies observed a vehicle traveling south on Route 60 and allegedly commit multiple traffic infractions at 11:36 p.m. Torres Rodriguez was found to be allegedly intoxicated. He will appear in Gerry Village Court at a later date.

Anthony Irizarry, 19, of Franklin Avenue Upper was charged with criminal mischief, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct on Thursday.

Cory Aldrich, 25, of Jamestown was charged with issuing a bad check on Nov. 28.

Sara Pencek, 27, of Amherst was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and passing a red light on Nov. 28.

A two-car accident occurred on Nov. 30 on Central Avenue just north of Day Street.

According to an accident report, around 10:45 a.m., David Fijal, 57, of East Lake Road, Dunkirk, was traveling south on Central Avenue when his dog jumped on him. Fijal’s vehicle sideswiped another vehicle legally parked on Central Avenue after Fijal continued south on Central Avenue. He came to rest after striking a tree in front of 30 Central Ave. Damage was done to the parked vehicle on the driver’s side, including knocking off the side mirror.

Keith Muniz, 25, of Matteson Street was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Nov. 30.

According to an accident report, around 2:45 a.m., Muniz was traveling north on Chestnut Street about half a mile south of Bernett Drive when two deer ran east in front of him. He struck one deer, allegedly left the scene and reported the accident at 8:40 a.m.

Nelson Irizarry, 24, of Temple Street was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property on Tuesday.

Laurie Holland, 35, of Central Avenue was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Wednesday.

Frank Sansone, 34, of Delhi, N.Y., was charged with disorderly conduct on Wednesday.

  • SILVER CREEK – Roger J. Price-Rivera, 32, of Monroe Street was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment on Wednesday.

Just after 4 p.m. deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Monroe Street. Prince-Rivera allegedly hit the hand of a female victim and obstructed her from placing a phone call to emergency services. He also allegedly physically restrained the victim from leaving the residence and allegedly pinned the victim against a door with his hand around her throat.

Prince-Rivera was arraigned in Silver Creek Village Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.

Barbershop target of drug bust, cocaine found

JAMESTOWN – Cocaine, money and metal knuckles were just some of the items found Thursday afternoon during two drug busts in the city of Jamestown.

At about 2:30 p.m., the Jamestown Police Department, the New York State Police and CNET executed two search warrants at two separate locations: Geralds Barbershop located at 941 E. Second St. and a residence located at 313 S. Main St.

Inside the barbershop, investigators found Gerald Slaughter, 42, of Jamestown along with an alleged quantity of crack cocaine, cash and two weapons – metal knuckles and a billy club, both of which are illegal to possess in New York state.

Investigators found a quantity of cocaine in the other residence.

Slaughter was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Jason Rosas, 29, of Ruggles Street was charged with unlicensed operation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation with a prior conviction on Nov. 27.

Pablo Rodriguez, 37, of East Second Street Upper was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and driving with a suspended registration, no inspection and no insurance on Nov. 28.

Nicholas Pacos, 29, of Brigham Road was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign, unlicensed operation and driving without an inspection and insurance on Nov. 29.

Pauline Burbee, 62, of Lakeview Avenue, Fredonia, was charged with aggravated harassment on Nov. 29.

Jose Santiago, 33, of Front Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and driving with a suspended registration and no insurance on Sunday.

Kimberly Brandow, 37, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday.

Kevin Newby, 42, of Savannah, Ga., was charged with second-degree obstruction of a governmental administration, unlicensed operation, failure to stop at a stop sign, no headlights and driving without insurance on Sunday.

Andrew Sroka, 22, of Central Avenue was charged with petit larceny on Monday.

Joseph Jagoda, 24, of Washington Avenue was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle in violation of a conditional license on Monday.

Michael Butyneski, 38, of Tonawanda was charged with backing unsafely on Monday.

According to an accident report, around 10 a.m., Michael Thorp, 23, of Rice Road, South Dayton, was following Butyneski (who was driving a Ryder Truck Rental van) southbound on Central Avenue just south of West Lucas Avenue.

Thorp told police Butyneski stopped in traffic and proceeded to back up into the front of Thorp’s vehicle. Butyneski told police he stopped in traffic because he thought his vehicle would not fit underneath a railroad overpass. He had then backed up and did not see Thorp directly behind him.

Garrett Warren, 22, of Dove Street was charged with petit larceny on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Fellinger, 45, of East Seventh Street was charged with violation of probation on a petit larceny charge under a bench warrant on Wednesday.

Derek Seegar, 32, of Eagle Street, Fredonia, was charged with petit larceny on Wednesday.

Yaneshia Ortiz, 20, of East Second Street was charged with petit larceny on Wednesday.

Jonathan Gomez-Collazo, 23, of Ruggles Street was charged with violation of probation on an endangering the welfare of a child charge under a bench warrant on Wednesday.

DWI arrest in Gerry

  • On Tuesday, Trooper David Wesolowski arrested a man for aggravated driving while intoxicated,

Timothy Matteson, 54, of Lakewood was pulled over on Salisbury Road in Gerry for allegedly driving erratically and failing several field sobriety tests.

Matteson was transported to the State Police barracks in Jamestown where he provided a breathing sample of .19.

He was processed and issued tickets returnable to the Town of Gerry Court.

He was then released to a sober individual.

Domestic dispute in Ashville ends in arrest

  • On Tuesday, the New York State Police responded to a residence in Ashville for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Wayne Harvey, 46, of Ashville allegedly began strangling the victim while she was sleeping.

The victim was able to free herself and call 911 to report the incident.

Harvey was arrested for criminal obstruction of breathing.

He was processed at State Prison Jamestown, and arraigned in the Town of Harmony Court. Harvey was released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Harmony Court.

Man fires several shots before surrendering

to police in Brant

  • BRANT – On Tuesday at 11 p.m., the New York State Police, Erie County Sheriff’s Office and Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals Department responded to reports of a barricaded subject at a home in Brant.

Shaun A. Humphrey, 42, of Brant was reportedly upset about child custody issues, and had made threats to harm himself and others.

Responding police agencies set up a perimeter around Humphrey’s residence and State Police crisis negotiators were able to make contact with Humphrey, engaging him in several short conversations.

At 2:15 a.m., Humphrey exited the residence onto his porch with a weapon and fired several shots in the direction of police, then re-entered that residence.

Negotiators made several attempts to call Humphrey, but were unable to re-establish contact.

At 7 a.m., the State Police Special Operations Response Team members mobilized and breached the front door. Humphrey then surrendered without further incident.

Humphrey has been charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, attempted assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a firearm, and second-degree menacing.

He has been arraigned before Town of Eden Town Justice Michael Cooper and remanded to the Erie County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Humphrey is schedule to reappear in the Town of Eden Court on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

Man arrested

for felony theft

  • Trooper Wayne Osgood was assigned to investigate an identity theft incident that occurred in Bemus Point between April and November.

When the complainant received an overdraft notice from her bank, she examined all the withdrawals and concluded that more than $1,000 had been drawn from her account on several occasions.

These withdrawals were made without the complainant’s permission and credited to a cell phone bill that was not her own.

Justin Gustafson, 27, of Jamestown allegedly stole more than $1,000 from the complainant.

He was arrested Monday for fourth-degree grand larceny and issued appearance tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellery Court to answer the charge.

NORTH HARMONY – Andrew C. Sanders, 27, of Stow was charged with second-degree harassment on Wednesday.

Sanders allegedly was involved in an incident at 8:20 p.m. where he head-butted another individual in the nose, causing swelling and pain. Sanders will appear in North Harmony Town Court at a later date.

Two-vehicle collision in North Harmony sends one to Hamot

  • NORTH HARMONY – A two-vehicle collision in North Harmony spun a Chevrolet Impala into a telephone pole Tuesday afternoon and sent one driver to UPMC Hamot in Erie.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jaelyn R. Kuczynski, 24, of Ripley, was traveling southbound on Route 394, when she attempted to make a left-hand turn into a driveway on the east side of the roadway.

Kuczynski allegedly failed to yield to a northbound Toyota sedan driven by Todd C. Martin, 43, of Mayville.

At about 2:45 p.m., Martin’s vehicle struck Kuczynski’s passenger side, sending her vehicle spinning into a telephone pole.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed away from the scene.

Kuczynski was taken by Starflight to UPMC Hamot for apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Martin was transported to WCA Hospital for minor injuries.

Charges are pending an ongoing investigation of the accident.

Man on parole picked up in Brant for possessing weapons

OBSERVER Staff Report

BRANT – A 25-year-old Salamanca man has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after police responded to a reported disturbance call on Cayuga Road in the town of Brant on Nov. 24.

According to the State Police at Collins, Kenneth Renaldo was allegedly walking around outside a relative’s home while carrying a .22 caliber rifle. Another family member had taken the gun from him to calm the situation.

While speaking with the parties involved, troopers were alerted to the fact that Renaldo was on parole and was a convicted felon.

Troopers also found him to allegedly be in possession of a set of brass knuckles.

Renaldo was subsequently charged and processed at the Collins barracks. He was arraigned in North Collins Town Court and is due back in court.

Troopers were assisted by the Seneca Nation of Indians Marshals and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

SINCLAIRVILLE – Karen A. Reynolds, 33, of Conewango Valley was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to signal a turn on Saturday.

At 1:07 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle allegedly fail to signal on Jamestown Street.

During the traffic stop, Reynolds was found to be allegedly intoxicated.

She was released to appear in Charlotte Town Court at a later date.

New York State Police at Collins

COLLINS – On Nov. 17, troopers arrested Kaleb Mason, 25, of Wheater Road, Collins, and Kaytlyn Barrett, 19, of County Line Road, Forestville, for possession of a hypodermic instrument, following a traffic stop on Bagdad Road in Collins.

Troopers stopped the car Mason was driving for an inadequate exhaust and observed Barrett, a front seat passenger, began acting and moving suspiciously. The two were subsequently found to allegedly be in possession of hypodermic needles.

They are due in Collins Town Court.

GOWANDA – On Nov. 19, troopers arrested Chelsea Brennan, 20, of Peck Hill Road, Perrysburg, on a bench warrant issued by Sherman Town Court.

She was picked up at the Shop n’ Save in Gowanda and turned over to a trooper from the Jamestown barracks for arraignment in Sherman Town Court.

PERRYSBURG – On Nov. 21, troopers charged John Richner, 17, of Niagara Falls, Jasmine Rickard, 18, of Sanborn, Marissa Ebbole, 19, of Lewiston, Erylnn Hill, 23, of Lewiston and Billie Jacobs, 25, of Lewiston with trespassing.

All five were allegedly observed exiting the grounds of the abandoned J.N. Adam Memorial Hospital after troopers responded to the area to investigate a reported suspicious car parked in the woods off Peck Hill Road.

They are all due in Perrysburg Town Court.

GOWANDA – On Nov. 22, troopers charged Shaina Nephew, 24, of Plank Road, Lawtons, for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Her vehicle was stopped on Aldrich Street and while talking to her, the trooper allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Nephew was subsequently found in possession of a glass pipe with marijuana in it.

She is due in Collins Town Court.

COLLINS – On Nov. 23, troopers charged Nathan Lebeau, 28, of Sulphur Springs Road, Irving, for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Lebeau’s car was stopped on State Route 438 and while speaking with him, the trooper allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Lebeau was subsequently found in possession of a baggy containing a small amount of marijuana.

He is due in Collins Town Court.

Jamestown man hit by motor vehicle

CARROLL – A Jamestown man was taken to the hospital following a car-pedestrian accident Friday evening. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Darrell Greene, 52, of Hopkins Avenue was struck by an eastbound vehicle on Route 62 at 5:16 p.m. Greene was in the eastbound lane directing traffic for a U-Haul trailer that was being extracted from a ditch on the west side of the road. He was struck by a vehicle operated by Susan A. Burns, 62, of Rock Hill, S.C. Greene was not apparently visible to Burns until the moment before the accident occurred. Greene was flown to Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa., for apparent non life-threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

Lucy M. Warmbrodt, 23, of Frazier Street, Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or higher and speeding on Thursday. At 2:40 a.m. deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 5 in the city of Dunkirk for allegedly speeding. During the traffic stop, Warmbrodt was found to be allegedly intoxicated. She was released to appear in Dunkirk City Court at a later date.

NORTH HARMONY – Chance W. Blanchard, 26, of Mayville was charged with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday. At 8:16 p.m. deputies and K-9 patrol took Blanchard into custody on Morris Road on an active warrant for the town of Chautauqua. Blanchard was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

CLYMER – Curtis W. Irion, 36, of Butler, Pa., was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana on Friday. At 5:36 p.m. deputies stopped Irion’s vehicle on Route 474 for alleged traffic violations. During this stop it was found Irion allegedly had an unregistered handgun and a small quantity of marijuana inside the vehicle. He was arraigned in Sherman Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
