Bus accident in Ripley
RIPLEY – A precarious U-turn resulted in a car-bus accident Thursday afternoon.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and Ripley Fire and EMS departments responded around 4:30 p.m. to the accident on Route 20.
According to deputies, investigation found Ahmed Sharif, 22, of Melvindale, Mich., pulled over on the side of the road and then attempted to make a U-turn. Sharif allegedly did not observe the traffic behind him when he pulled into the driving lane and the Ripley Central School bus, carrying several students, was unable to avoid colliding with his vehicle.
Neither drivers nor students were injured.
Sharif was charged with failure to yield the right of way when entering the roadway. He will appear in Ripley Town Court at a later date.

Zachary N. Haas, 24, of Brocton was charged with failure to signal and driving while intoxicated on Oct. 25. Deputies stopped Haas’ vehicle on Wilson Road in the town of Pomfret shortly after 2 a.m., for allegedly failing to signal a turn. Haas was found to be allegedly intoxicated during the traffic stop. He was released to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.

BROCTON – Timothy W. Harris, 27, of Warren, Ohio, was charged Tuesday with driving while ability impaired by drugs and parking on the highway after deputies received reports of a vehicle parked in the driving lane on Blood Street around 3:30 p.m. Harris was found to be the driver and was allegedly under the influence of drugs. He was processed and arraigned in Brocton Village Court. Harris was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.

NORTH HARMONY – Bryan R. Moody, 34, and Paul E. Gibbs, 36, both of Erie, Pa., were charged after a traffic stop Wednesday morning on Interstate 86 for speeding.
Moody, the driver, and Gibbs, his passenger, were allegedly found in possession of marijuana. Moody was also allegedly found in possession of a dagger.
Gibbs was issued a ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.
Moody was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown barracks. He was issued tickets for operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Both will appear in North Harmony Town Court at a later date.

North Harmony man charged with sexual abuse
NORTH HARMONY – On Tuesday at about 1:30 p.m. the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation alleging Edwin Millan, Aka “Chino”, 57, of Ashville was sexually involved with a female juvenile. With the assistance of the Child Advocacy Program the investigation concluded with an arrest warrant issued by the Town of North Harmony Judge Howard Peacock for the arrest of Millan.
Millan was arraigned in front of the Town of North Harmony Court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash and $40,000 property bail for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
State Police at Fredonia
On Thursday Fredonia New York State Police stopped a vehicle on Webster Road, in the town of Pomfret, for failure to dim high beam headlights.
Michael Barras, 24, of Dunkirk, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance outside the original container and failure to dim high beams. Barras was transported to Fredonia barracks where he was processed.
Barras was issued tickets to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
Michael Klepfer, 33, of Fredonia, was charged Sunday with first-offense driving while intoxicated, operator a motor vehicle with .08 percent or more alcohol in blood, moving from lane unsafely and unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret.
He allegedly failed standard field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana in a plastic baggie and in a glass smoking pipe.
Klepfer was transported to the Fredonia barracks. He gave a blood alcohol reading of .11 percent.
He was issued tickets and will appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
State Police at Jamestown
GERRY – On Monday, Jamestown State Troopers arrested Richard T. Sendall, 30, of Jamestown after a traffic stop on Gerry-Levant Road for tinted windows.
Sendall was issued an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and two traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Gerry Court at a later date and released.
ELLICOTT – On Monday, a New York State Police Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit stopped a pickup truck pulling a trailer that was depositing refuse on State Route 430, and arrested the driver, Daniel D. Skaggs Jr., 26, of Jamestown.
Jamestown State Troopers assisted by K-9 Kubi found Skaggs to be in possession of 10 grams of marijuana and some Xanax pills. Skaggs was charged with operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, controlled substance not in original container, unlawful possession of Marijuana and unsecured load all tickets returnable to the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date. Skaggs was released to a third party.
RANDOLPH – On Monday, New York State Police arrested Sue L. Foster, 41, of Randolph.
Foster used her sister’s identity information at a traffic stop last March and received a citation. The suspect’s sister subsequently had her driver’s license suspended for failure to answer a summons. An investigation by Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police determined Foster had fraudulently used her sister’s information.
Foster was charged with criminal impersonation and falsifying business records and is to appear in Randolph Court at a later date.

Collins man dies in motorcycle crash
OBSERVER Staff Report
COLLINS – A 53-year-old Collins man died early Saturday morning after his motorcycle crashed on Buffalo Road near the intersection with state Route 438.
According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Wing of Richardson Road was pronounced dead at the scene. Buffalo media outlets report Wing’s motorcycle veered off the road.
He was reportedly unconscious when first responders arrived on the scene.
Hit and run accident in Pomfret
New York State Police in Fredonia responded Saturday to a hit-and-run accident on Route 60 near Shumla Road in the town of Pomfret.
An interview with the victim and witnesses revealed, Alexander Cieplinski, 22, of Dunkirk, had rear-ended another vehicle and proceeded northbound on Route 60.
Cieplinski was subsequently taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Fredonia barracks for processing. A blood alcohol test gave a result of .16 percent. He was issued addition tickets for first-offense operating a motor vehicle with .08 percent or more alcohol in blood, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and following too closely.
He will appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.

BROCTON – Kimberlee M. McCracken, 42, of Erie, Pa., was charged with speeding and driving while intoxicated on Friday. Shortly after 2 a.m., deputies stopped McCracken’s vehicle on West Main Street for allegedly speeding. During the traffic stop, McCracken was found to be allegedly intoxicated. McCracken will be released to appear in Brocton Village Court at a later date.
FRENCH CREEK – Heather Kinal, 32, of Maple Springs was charged with failure to yield the right of way and driving while intoxicated on Saturday. Deputies stopped Kinal’s vehicle at 9:36 p.m., for allegedly failing to yield the right of way on Old Road. During the traffic stop, Kinal was found to be allegedly intoxicated. Kinal was released to appear in French Creek Town Court at a later date.
PORTLAND – Christian Bradford Carver, 28, of Silver Creek was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Sunday. Deputies stopped Carver’s vehicle for allegedly speeding on Route 5 shortly before 1:30 p.m. Carver’s driving privileges in New York state were allegedly revoked. Carver was arraigned in Portland Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on $500 bail.
James B. Erickson, 48, of Stockton was charged with moving from lane unsafely and driving while intoxicated on Sunday. Deputies stopped Erickson’s vehicle at 2:47 a.m., for allegedly moving from its lane unsafely on McAllister Road in the town of Pomfret. Erickson was found to be allegedly intoxicated during the stop. He was released to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.

- Matthew Demarco, 24, and David Trout, 25, both of Jamestown, were charged Saturday with unlawful possession of marijuana and Demarco was also charged with speeding after a traffic stop on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret.
Demarco was the driver in the vehicle stopped for speeding and Trout was the passenger. Both were allegedly found in possession of marijuana and issued tickets. Both will appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
- PORTLAND – Juan Cruz-Corraliza, 31, of Dunkirk, was charged Friday with failure to use headlights with windshield wipers and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after a traffic stop on Route 5 for inadequate headlights.
He was allegedly found to have a suspended driver’s license for failure to pay fines to Dunkirk City Court and the Department of Motor Vehicles. His license was confiscated and forwarded to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Cruz-Corraliza was issued tickets to appear in Portland Town Court at a later date.

Names released in Saturday accident
The Dunkirk Police Department has released the names of those involved in a rear-end collision Saturday evening at the corner of Lake Shore Drive and Central Avenue in the city of Dunkirk.
According to an accident report, around 6:55 p.m., a vehicle driven by Lourdes Vargas, 58, of Central Avenue was westbound on Lake Shore Drive East when it stopped at a traffic signal in the southbound turning lane at Central Avenue.
Another vehicle driven by Kimberly Hanlon, 43, also of Central Avenue, was reportedly stopped behind Vargas.
When the signal turned green, both vehicles apparently proceeded, intending to turn south onto Central Avenue. Hanlon told police her wallet fell to the floor and she reached down to retrieve it. In the meantime, Vargas’ vehicle reportedly stopped, causing Hanlon’s vehicle to collide with it. Minimal damage was done to both vehicles.
Vargas was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital by the Dunkirk Fire Department for the complaint of neck pain.
City man charged with DWI after accident
A 45-year-old Dunkirk man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after an accident that occurred on Oct. 12 in the town of Dunkirk.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, around 11:30 p.m., deputies and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Route 5 near Shorewood Country Club.
Upon investigation, it is alleged the driver, Rafael S. Rivas, was eastbound on Route 5 when he stated he swerved to miss two deer in the roadway and was unable to maintain control of his vehicle. He reportedly left the south side of the road and struck two signs and a tree before coming to a rest.
Rivas was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. He has been additionally charged with moving from lane unsafely.
Hanover accident leads to DWI charges
HANOVER – An accident on Hanover Road in the town of Hanover Saturday afternoon has led to a 23-year-old Buffalo man being charged with driving while intoxicated.
According to the Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:45 p.m., depu-ties saw a southbound vehicle allegedly steer into on-coming traffic, almost striking another vehicle head-on. The vehicle then reportedly corrected and drove into a ditch, striking a sign.
Through an investigation, it is alleged Thu Katray was operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He was taken into custody for processing and later released with charges of DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, failure to keep right and move from lane unsafely.
Tractors reported stolen in Sherman
SHERMAN – The Chau-tauqua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the apparent theft of several farm tractors from a barn located at 4055 Morris Road in the town of Sherman.
The theft reportedly occurred sometime during the week of Oct. 20. The tractors were late-model Allis Chalmers WC-45 / WD-45, an International 300 Utility and a Sears Craftsman 20 HP riding lawn mower.
The Sheriff’s office is asking the public if anyone has any information, or if anyone was seen loading these tractors onto a trailer or a flatbed truck.

SHERIDAN – Michael B. Kleckner, 29, of Angola was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault on Friday. Kleckner was arrested by deputies at 1 a.m., on active arrest warrants stemming from an earlier incident that occurred in the town. He was arraigned in Sheridan Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail.
Car overturns
KIANTONE – Shannon Cantrell, 18, of Warren, Pa., avoided serious injury Saturday around 8:30 p.m. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department said Cantrell was traveling westbound on Peck Settlement Road when she veered off the right side of the road and lost control, her car ending up on its roof. Cantrell was transported to WCA Hospital with minor injuries. She was charged with speed not reasonable and failure to maintain lane and will appear in Kiantone Town Court.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Ellicott Police Department, Kiantone Volunteer Fire Department, Frewsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance at the scene.

Four injured in one-car rollover
PERRYSBURG – Four people were injured in an early morning accident in the town of Perrysburg Saturday. According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, around 1:55 a.m., a vehicle was traveling northbound on North Road, when the driver allegedly lost control and the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned.
The driver and front-seat passenger were flown to Erie County Medical Center by Starflight and Mercy Flight helicopters. The rear-seat passengers were transported to ECMC by North Collins and Cattaraugus Indian Reservation ambulances for non life-threatening injuries.
No names were released by the Sheriff’s Office Saturday.
Perrysburg, Lawtons, Versailles and Gowanda fire departments also responded along with Gowanda EMS.
Investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

HANOVER – Carla Y. Andujar-Rosado, 24, of Dunkirk, was charged Friday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without insurance and operating while registration suspended after a traffic stop on Route 5 and 20 around 11:35 p.m. It was allegedly found Andujar-Rosado had a suspended license and registration and no insurance. She was issued tickets to appear in Hanover Town Court at a later date.
CHARLOTTE – Joshua A. Tolman, 24, of Sinclairville, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to keep right after a traffic stop on Route 60 around 2:45 a.m. After being pulled over for speeding, it was allegedly found Tolman was intoxicated. He was taken into custody and was found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. He was released with tickets to appear in Charlotte Town Court at a later date.

Dunkirk man accused of stealing funds from midget football league
A Dunkirk man has been charged with stealing money from a local midget football league.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, Allen B. Carlson Jr., 41, of Van Buren Road has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Carlson was the treasurer of the Lakeshore Midget Football League. Deputies allege that between Sept. 8 to Oct. 15, he stole $4,785 from the league to pay off various personal debts.
The midget football league is comprised of teams from Sherman-Ripley, Chautauqua Lake, Bemus Point, Southwestern, Frewsburg, Cassadaga, Brocton, Westfield, Falconer and Panama.
Carlson was taken into custody on Monday. Deputies said the day Carlson was arrested, he paid back the league the full amount.
Carlson will appear in Chautauqua Town Court to answer to the charges.
Man charged after found asleep in car
SHERIDAN – A Dunkirk man was charged after being allegedly found sleeping while his vehicle was in park Thursday.
Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies found Derrick S. Repasch, 32, allegedly sleeping in the driver’s seat at the intersection of Aldrich and Middle roads at 8:15 a.m. Repasch allegedly had his foot on the brake and the vehicle was in drive. Repasch was found to be allegedly under the influence of drugs and in possession of narcotics.
Repasch was charged with driving while ability impaired, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and parking on pavement. He was released to a sober third party and will appear in Sheridan Town Court at a later date

Pedestrian struck on Route 60
Dunkirk Police, Dunkirk Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance were called to a pedestrian-car accident on Route 60/Main Street and Third Street around 9 p.m. Thursday. According to police, the pedestrian attempted to cross Route 60 against the signal and was struck by the southbound vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital by Alstar for apparently non life-threatening injuries. No tickets were issued for the incident.
City man in custody for Family Dollar robbery
A city man was taken into custody by Dunkirk Police Thursday for allegedly robbing Family Dollar on Wednesday night.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the Fourth Street store around 8:50 p.m. Upon arrival, the suspect had fled the scene.
Store employees reported a Hispanic man entered the store and demanded money as he held his hand in his sweatshirt pocket. The employees complied and handed over the cash.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s K9 Deputy Beichner was requested to the scene and assisted with tracking. Through investigation, Mario Castro Jr., 20, of Swan Street, was determined to be the suspect and a warrant was issued by Dunkirk City Court. Fredonia Police Department also assisted.
Thursday around 8:30 a.m., police allegedly located Castro hiding in the attic during a search of his residence. He was taken into custody with no bail.

City man in custody for selling heroin
Dunkirk Police and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force executed an outstanding warrant Thursday for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Officers took Raymond Santiago Rodriguez, 41, of West Second Street, Dunkirk, into custody around 8:45 p.m. Charges stem from an ongoing investigation where Rodriguez allegedly sold quantities of heroin to undercover agents. Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident.

K-9 hunts down man fleeing warrant charges
STOCKTON – Spencer T. Burke, 22, of Mill Street, was charged with criminal tampering and three counts of petit larceny on Wednesday.
At 8 p.m., deputies tried to serve several active Stockton Town Court warrants on Burke. Burke allegedly fled out of the rear of a residence into an overgrown field and swamp. K9 Drago responded to the scene and was able to track and locate Burke, who was allegedly found hiding in thick brush in camouflage. Burke is being held at the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 property bail.

- ELLICOTT – Susan A. Smith, 58, of Lakewood, was charged Thursday with aggravated driving while intoxicated after an erratic driver was reported on Route 60 at 8:12 a.m. in the town of Ellicott.
Smith was transported to the Jamestown barracks for processing where a blood alcohol content of .27 percent was obtained.
Smith was issued tickets to appear in Ellicott Town Court and released to a third party.

HANOVER – Jessica L. Lawrie, 27, of Irving was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, possession of a controlled substance outside original container, failure to signal turn, failure to keep right and having no or improper seat belt on Tuesday.
Deputies stopped Lawrie’s vehicle just before 2 p.m., for allegedly committing multiple traffic infractions on Alleghany Road.
Lawrie was found to allegedly have suspended driving privileges and to be in possession of a quantity of suboxone strips, narcotic pills and prescribed controlled substances in improper containers.
Lawrie was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 property bail.

ARKWRIGHT – On Wednesday, Fredonia New York State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 83 for speeding and crossing the center line twice.
Angelo Ramirez Jr., 50, of South Dayton failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Ramirez was transported to New York State Police at Fredonia for processing. The blood alcohol test result was .13 percent.
Ramirez was issued tickets for first-offense driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent or more alcohol in blood, driving to left of pavement markings and speeding violation exceeding 55 mph returnable to the Town of Arkwright Court on Nov. 17.
On Wednesday, Fredo-nia New York State Police responded to Applebee’s on Vineyard Drive for a report of a possible intoxicated driver at the curbside pickup.
Kathleen Hennessy, 53, of Jamestown was allegedly very intoxicated.
Hennessy failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Hennessy was transported to Fredonia barracks for processing. The blood alcohol test result was .23 percent.
Hennessy was additionally charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, and due to a previous felony driving while intoxicated conviction, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated.
She was arraigned at the Town of Dunkirk Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 secure bond.
Hennessy is to appear in the Town of Dunkirk Court on Oct 27.
STOCKTON – On Wednesday, Fredonia New York State Police stopped a vehicle on High Street after observing the operator using a hand-held cell phone and not wearing a seatbelt.
Jeffrey Thompson, 33, of Fredonia also had a revoked driver’s license. Thompson was issued tickets for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operator, cell phone violation, seatbelt violation and not having an interlock device.
He was arraigned at Stockton Town Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of bail in the amount of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

Amanda Szukala, 23, of Porter Avenue, Fredonia, was charged with petit larceny on Oct. 18.
Maria Jamison, 35, of Central Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Sunday.
William Tolbert, 47, of Lake Shore Drive West was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Sunday.

Matthew Gregory, 23, of Lincoln Avenue was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on Oct. 16.
Carolann Sangeorge, 36, of Silver Creek, and Patrick Phillips, 33, of Canary Street, Dunkirk, were both charged with petit larceny on Oct. 17. Sangeorge was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Jessica Goodwin, 29, of Kosciuszko Avenue, Dunkirk, was charged with petit larceny on Oct. 17.
Ryan McCormick, 21, of Middlesex Drive was charged with unreasonable speed after he allegedly failed to navigate a right-hand bend on Middlesex Drive on Oct. 17 around 3:45 p.m.
McCormick, who was traveling east, allegedly accelerated through the bend, lost control and went into the west side of the road. He apparently then hit the curb and a street light pole.
A pedestrian, Jacob Stockweather, 23, of Alden, was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries after he was reportedly struck by a northbound vehicle on Oct. 18 while attempting to cross Water Street from west to east.
The accident occurred around 9:15 p.m.
Police say no charges were filed since Stockweather was reportedly not in a crosswalk and crossed between two parked vehicles on the side of the road and apparently crossed behind a southbound vehicle.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, police say, thus had no chance to see Stockweather crossing and was therefore unable to avoid the accident.
Matthew Johnson, 23, of Temple Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday.
Nicholas Pomponio, 19, of Ontario was charged with second-degree harassment on Sunday.
Michael Capalacus, 34, of West Seneca was charged on a warrant with first-degree criminal contempt on Monday.

Teen injured in one-vehicle crash
STOCKTON – A Stockton teenager was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital for injuries following a one-car accident Monday evening.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, police and Stockton EMS responded to Cemetery Road for the report of the accident at 7:30 p.m. Robert D. Keech, 19, of Barnes Road was allegedly traveling south when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. Keech veered off the road and traveled about 50 yards through an open field before hitting a tree head on.
Keech was taken to the hospital and charged with not wearing a seat belt. He was released to appear in Stockton Town Court.

GERRY – Nancy M. Mizer, 55, of Stockton was charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol combined, felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operator, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance outside of an original container on Saturday. Deputies were on Route 380 on regular patrol shortly before 4 p.m., when they observed Mizer parked on the side of the road with a female outside of the vehicle. Mizer was found to be allegedly intoxicated under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Mizer was found to have a DWAI conviction within the past 10 years making this arrest a felony. Mizer was also found to be in alleged possession of a controlled substance out of its original container. Mizer was released to appear in Gerry Town Court.
RIPLEY – Patrick J. Bowman, 24, of Sandy Lane was charged with third-degree assault on Monday. The charges stem from an incident on Oct. 13 where Bowman allegedly attacked another person causing physical injury. Bowman was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Arlyn J. Schindler, 31, of East Main Street was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Oct. 7. Schindler was operating a vehicle stopped for an alleged traffic violation on Buffalo Street. A DMV computer check revealed Schindler’s license was revoked in 2006 for a driving while intoxicated conviction. Schindler was released to appear in Collins Town Court.
Jessica L. Lay, 22, of Buffalo was charged with first-degree gang assault on Oct. 9. Lay allegedly assaulted a victim, in concert with two other females, on Aug. 25 causing the victim to have multiple injuries. Lay was turned over to Gowanda Police by Cattaraugus County Jail personnel. Lay was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Seth A. Halftown Jr., 48, of Versailles was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Oct. 10. Halftown was stopped by police on South Water Street for an alleged traffic violation. Halftown’s license was found to be revoked in 1999 for a driving while intoxicated conviction. Halftown was arraigned in Persia Town Court and released on $500 bail.
Chelsea D. Fanning, 22, of Jamestown Street was charged with an arrest warrant on Oct. 14. Police responded to the report of an unwanted guest at a Jamestown Street residence. While Fanning was not the unwanted guest, she was found to have active warrants from Lancaster Town Court and Buffalo City Court. Fanning was turned over to the Lancaster Police Department and will be turned over to Buffalo Police at a later date.
Brian McAllister, 40, of Commercial Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Monday. Police responded to the report of a disturbance at a Commercial Street residence shortly after 4 a.m. McAllister, who appeared intoxicated, was allegedly yelling and swearing causing a disturbance. Police efforts to quell McAllister’s behavior were unsuccessful. McAllister was released to appear in Persia Town Court. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
Rouel Crouse, 27, of Irving was charged with a warrant arrest on Oct. 16. Police previously arrested Crouse for petit larceny on June 24 and she failed to appear, a warrant was issued. Crouse was taken into custody by Evans Police Department during a traffic stop and turned over to Gowanda Police. She was arraigned in Collins Town Court and sent to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $1,000 bail.

City teenager charged after alleged ‘huffing’ incident
GOWANDA – A Dunkirk teenager has been charged after an alleged “huffing” incident on Buffalo Street. According to Gowanda Police, officers responded to the parking lot of a local business for the report of suspicious people “huffing” fumes from a paint can on Oct. 8.
Jonathan R. White II, 17, of East Courtney Street was found to be one of the subjects involved and was allegedly in possession of alcohol. While being interviewed by police, White allegedly gave police a fictitious name.
When police learned of White’s real identity later that day, police found White had an active arrest warrant from Dunkirk City Court. White was located hiding in a closet at a South Chapel Street residence and taken into custody. White was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol under 21, second-degree criminal impersonation, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and an active warrant.
White was turned over to the Dunkirk Police Department on the warrant and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Collins Town Court.

DAYTON – Joseph Coons, 20, of Gowanda was charged with three counts of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child on Sept. 30. Police were called to a Gable Street residence for an unresponsive female on Sept. 20. Police and EMS personnel found a 12-year-old female unresponsive and the victim was transported to Lake Shore Hospital where it was found she had a blood alcohol content of .13 percent. Through investigation, Coons allegedly supplied alcohol to the victim and two other juveniles. Coons was released to appear in Dayton Town Court.
COLLINS – Lacie Richter, 21, of Little Genesee was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 5. Richter was stopped on Brant-Reservation Road for allegedly having a loud exhaust. During the traffic stop, Richter was found to be in alleged possession of a pipe containing marijuana and two plastic baggies containing 17 grams of marijuana. She was released to appear in Collins Town Court.
HANOVER – John McCormick, 58, of Dunkirk was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 5. Police stopped Mc-Cormick’s vehicle on Routes 5 and 20 and he was found to be in alleged possession of a pipe and plastic baggies containing 2 grams of marijuana. He was released to appear in Hanover Town Court.
COLLINS – Kevin Stafford, 23, of Irving was charged with offering a false written statement on Wednesday. On Sept. 27, police received a report of a possible stolen truck from Stafford’s mother. The truck was later located by her and a Seneca Nation of Indians Marshal on a gravel access road off Burning Springs Road which had been involved in an accident and disabled.
Stafford allegedly had the vehicle last and maintained he had parked it at a residence that night. Investiga-tion revealed Stafford allegedly damaged the vehicle before leaving it on the gravel road. He was released to appear in Collins Town Court.

Elderly man uninjured after driving through garage
OBSERVER Staff Report
An elderly Fredonia man escaped injury after reportedly driving through his garage on Wednesday.
According to the Fredonia Police Department, around 3 p.m., Sam Avny, 91, of 44 Holmes Place fell asleep in his vehicle while in his driveway and forgot to put the vehicle in park. The vehicle then reportedly traveled through the closed garage door and continued out the back wall, coming to rest in the back yard.
No charges were filed.
Man allegedly hides in woods to evade police
HANOVER – A Forestville resident was found to be allegedly evading police in a wooden area by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office K9 Drago. According to police, deputies responded to a Quarry Road residence Wednesday around 8 p.m., for a fight in progress.
Mark R. Kirkland, 54, of Quarry Road allegedly fled by foot into a wooded area. Drago was able to track Kirkland through a field into a wooded area. Kirkland was found allegedly hiding under fallen tree tops inside the woods. When placed under arrest, Kirkland allegedly resisted.
He was charged with second-degree harassment and resisting arrest. Kirkland was arraigned in Hanover Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 property bail.

SILVER CREEK – Nicholas Cole, 20, of Dunkirk was charged with speeding and unlawful possession of marijuana on Wednesday. Deputies stopped Cole’s vehicle on Central Avenue for allegedly speeding shortly after 2 p.m. Cole was found to be allegedly in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. Cole was released to appear in Silver Creek Village Court.
KIANTONE – Ralph R. Pratt, 50, of Jamestown was charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, uninspected motor vehicle and fugitive from justice on Wednesday. Shortly before 10 p.m., deputies located Pratt’s vehicle parked on Kiantone Road. Pratt was found to be allegedly intoxicated and refused a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol level. Pratt was also found to have a valid arrest warrant out of Pennsylvania for violation of parole. Pratt was arraigned in Carroll Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail for the fugitive charge. Pratt will appear in Kiantone Town Court for the other charges.
SILVER CREEK – David A. Brill Jr., 34, of Robinson Street was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment on Thursday. Police responded to the report of a physical altercation on Robinson Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. It is alleged Brill physically dragged a victim from her bed and slammed her on the floor in front of a child. A warrant was issued for Brill’s arrest and was served shortly after. Brill was arraigned in Silver Creek Village Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail on bail.

JAMESTOWN – Rebecca L. Dorman, 40, of Jamestown was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing on Oct. 9. Dorman allegedly failed to report receiving unemployment insurance benefits to the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services. As a result, Dorman received $1,414 in unentitled benefits from July to September 2013. Dorman was released to appear in Jamestown City Court.

Man jumps in river to avoid arrest
JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Police were called to CVS in Brooklyn Square Sunday around 10:30 p.m. for an alleged armed robbery.
An unknown male entered the business wearing a ski mask and gray sweatshirt, armed with a knife. He took money and fled the store.
The police were able to chase the suspect to the Chadakoin River, where he jumped into the river to escape arrest.
Jamestown Police were able to retrieve the suspect out of the water and found the cash on his person.
Angel Vargas-Mendoza, 31, of Jamestown was charged with three counts of first-degree armed robbery and was linked to two other armed robberies of 7-eleven stores in Jamestown on Aug. 10 and Aug. 20.
Vargas-Mendoza is awaiting arraignment.

Woman allegedly steals from social club
SILVER CREEK – A Silver Creek woman was arrested for allegedly stealing from a local social club. Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies took Tanya M. Siragusa, 37, of Lafayette Street in to custody on a felony warrant Thursday.
Siragusa allegedly took money from a local social club during her time as an employee with the organization. Siragusa is charged with third-degree grand larceny and was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 property bail. She will appear in Silver Creek Village Court at a later date.

ARKWRIGHT – Bruce R. Colvenbach, 25, of South Dayton was charged with driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol, failure to keep right and failure to maintain lane on Saturday. Deputies stopped Colvenbach’s vehicle on Route 83 shortly before 2:30 a.m., for an alleged traffic infraction. Colvenbach was found to be allegedly intoxicated during this stop. He was released to appear in Arkwright Town Court at a later date.

Four charged in drug raids
JAMESTOWN – Four people were taken into custody following three separate drug raids Friday morning in Jamestown.
An ongoing investigation into the sales and trafficking of heroin and other narcotics led members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and the New York State Police’s Community Narcotics Enforcement Team to execute three search warrants in the city.
The Jamestown Police Department’s SWAT team assisted with entrance into two of the locations.
At 6 Winsor St., 20-year-old Angel Cruz and 33-year-old Zuleyka Fuentas-Crus were taken into custody. Both were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after a quantity of prescription pills and cash were seized from their apartment.
At 10 Winsor St., 20-year-old Ezequiel Villafane-Nazario was taken into custody and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after a quantity of heroin and cash was seized from his apartment.
Angel Ortiz Rodriguez, 37, of 563 E. Second St., was taken into custody after it was determined that he had an oustanding probation warrant from Warren County, Pa.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

He is due back in court on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.

Level 3 sex offender nabbed again
Dunkirk Police have arrested city resident Richard P. Conti on an order of protection violation.
On Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. the DPD received a report that the 66-year-old Conti, a registered level 3 sex offender, was allegedly standing on the corner of Eagle Street and W. Sixth Street watching children exiting the Dunkirk Middle School. Conti has a valid order of protection, which by court order does not allow him to enter within 150 feet of any school.
An investigation was conducted and Conti was taken into custody Thursday at 4:40 p.m. on a warrant signed by City Court Judge Walter Drag for felony criminal contempt in the first degree. Conti was locked up in Dunkirk City Jail with no bail.
Woman charged under Leandra’s Law
MAYVILLE – A woman has been charged under Leandra’s Law after allegedly driving drunk with a young teenager in her vehicle.
Jessica M. Fredrick, 38, was stopped on East Chautauqua Street for an alleged equipment violation on Wednesday shortly before 7:30 p.m. Fredrick was found to be allegedly intoxicated and had a 14-year-old passenger in the vehicle.
Fredrick was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court on charges of driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a child less than 16 years of age in vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child and having no or inadequate headlights.
Fredrick was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
Jamestown woman charged with arson
JAMESTOWN – Police have arrested a Jamestown woman in connection with an alleged arson.
Fire investigators said Thursday an Oct. 2 fire at 719 Cherry St. was intentionally set. Jamestown Police Department investigators said Elizabeth “Connie” Altieri, 48, intentionally set the kitchen on fire in the occupied building.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Altieri earlier this week and took her into custody without incident on second-degree arson charges. Altieri is currently in Chautauqua County Jail.
At 6:30 p.m. Oct. 2, Jamestown firefighters were called to the scene on a report of a structure fire. The fire was contained to the kitchen and was quickly extinguished by fire personnel.

VILLENOVA – On Wednesday Jamestown State Troopers arrested James A. Baldwin, 40, of Cherry Creek after a traffic stop on South Hill Road for an expired inspection sticker.
He was found to be in possession of marijuana and issued tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana, uninspected vehicle and no seat belt returnable to the Town of Villenova Court and released.
CHERRY CREEK – On Wednesday New York State Police arrested Bennie N. Carter, 38 of Lockport and Justin G. Jarocinski, 32, of Delevan after investigating a report of trespass at a residence in Cherry Creek.
The homeowner reported seeing the two leave her residence in a blue van, and recognized the men as door to door salesmen she dealt with three weeks earlier.
State Police, assisted by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, located the men who were taken to Jamestown for processing. Carter and Jarocinski were issued appearance tickets for misdemeanor criminal trespass returnable to the Town of Cherry Creek Court and released.

City man charged with selling methamphetamine
A city of Dunkirk man has been charged after allegedly selling methamphetamine to undercover police officers.
Brian J. Woloszyn, 37, of 11 E. Doughty St., was taken into custody at his residence Wednesday by Dunkirk Police on an active arrest warrant shortly before 7:30 p.m.
The warrant was a result of an investigation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force. It is alleged Woloszyn sold quantities of methamphetamine to agents of the task force on numerous occasions from his residence.
Woloszyn is charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Woloszyn was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest and additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Woloszyn is being held at Dunkirk City Jail pending arraignment in Dunkirk City Court. Following arraignment, Woloszyn will be held pending further court action.

Patrick Sullivan, 53, of West Cedar Street was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or above on Tuesday.

Six teenagers were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on the night/morning of Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, including Shea Glasheen, 19, Christopher Leavy, 19, Justin Leonti, 19, Ryan Keyes, 18, Connor Krzeminski, 18, and Daniel Flori, 18, all of residence halls at SUNY Fredonia.
Jonathan Barnes, 37, of Eagle Street was charged on an arrest warrant with endangering the welfare of a child on Oct. 2.
Chad Jaynes, 22, of Cherry Creek was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child on Friday.
Serina Robinson, 19, of Brigham Road was charged with third-degree assault on Friday.
Emmett Gerwitz, 20, of Buffalo was charged with disorderly conduct on Sunday.
Donald Malone, 24, of Brigham Road was charged with obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment on Sunday.
Fabian Bautista, 24, of East Front Street, Dunkirk, was charged with failure to yield the right of way and operating without insurance on Monday after a two-vehicle sideswipe accident around 4:30 p.m. Bautista’s vehicle allegedly pulled out of a parking spot on the side of the street around 75 W. Main St. when the sideswipe occurred.

Ripley man allegedly steals cross
RIPLEY – A Ripley man has been charged with alleg-edly stealing a cross. Brett Pedrico, 56, of West Main Street was charged with petit larceny on Monday.
According to the Chautau-qua County Sheriff’s Office, Pedrico took a cross from the front yard of the Ripley United Methodist Church on Saturday. The cross has been recovered, police said.
He was released to appear in Ripley Town Court.

Shane S. Foster, 26, of Westfield was charged with passing a red light, driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana Saturday. At 12:40 a.m., deputies stopped Foster’s vehicle for allegedly passing a red light on Route 60 in the town of Dunkirk. Foster was found to be allegedly impaired by drugs. He was also found to be in alleged possession of a quantity of marijuana. Fos-ter was released to appear in Dunkirk Town Court.
Shannon V. Pagan, 30, of Dunkirk was charged with moving from lane unsafely and driving while intoxicated on Sunday. At 1:59 a.m., deputies stopped Pagan’s vehicle for allegedly moving from lane unsafely on Route 60 in the town of Dunkirk. Pagan was found to be allegedly intoxicated during the stop. Pagan was released to appear in Dun-kirk Town Court.

ELLERY – On Friday, Jamestown State Troopers arrested Ryan Fitzpatrick, 21, of Jamestown who was a passenger in a car stopped for speeding on Route 430.
Fitzpatrick was found to be in possession of approximately 13 grams of marijuana and a marijuana grinder. He was issued an appearance ticket and released.
JAMESTOWN – On Saturday, New York State Police arrested Charles Haley, 42 of Jamestown after a traffic stop.
Troopers observed a demolition derby car being driven on Tiffany Street with numerous violations, including no license plates and no headlights. Haley was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to State Police barracks where a blood alcohol level of .16 percent was obtained and a computer check showed Haley had a revoked license and a prior driving while intoxicated arrest.
Haley was issued tickets for felony driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated unlicensed operation.
Haley was released to a third party.

Jamestown shooting suspect in custody
JAMESTOWN – A 29-year-old Jamestown man has been committed to Chautauqua County Jail following an early morning shooting Saturday on Barrows Street.
Jamestown police re-sponded to the area of 177 Barrows St. around 11:27 a.m. for a report of shots fired. Officers arriving at the scene observed a man flee into a residence at 172 Barrows St. After a perimeter had been established around the dwelling, the alleged suspect, identified as Demetrius McBride, eventually conceded and turned himself over to police.
Investigation revealed McBride and another subject were apparently involved in a dispute in the street which escalated to the point of McBride reportedly retrieving a shotgun from his residence and returning to shoot two rounds toward several individuals standing on a porch at 177 Barrows St.
One victim was struck in the leg and treated for non-life threatening injuries at WCA Hospital. Investiga-tors retrieved the alleged 12-gauge shotgun used in the incident from inside Barrows’ residence after obtaining a search warrant.
McBride has been charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a firearm and second-degree criminal use of a firearm. He was arraigned in city court and committed to the county jail Sunday morning.

HANOVER – Cindy Becker, 59, of Milestrip Road, Irving, and Andrea Waterman, 43, of Versailles-Plank Road, Lawtons, were both charged with disorderly conduct and trespass on Saturday.
Around 7:20 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a business on Alleghany Road for the report of two disorderly subjects. As deputies arrived, employees identified two female subjects allegedly being disorderly and refusing to leave the establishment.
Waterman was separately charged with second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.
Both subjects were arraigned in Hanover Town Court and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail.

State Police at Fredonia
Samuel Camacho III, no age given, of Dunkirk was charged with driving while intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic violations on Friday. Police observed Camacho’s vehicle turn onto McAllister Road in the town of Pomfret and allegedly travel up the middle of the roadway and swerve to the left shortly before 3 a.m.
Camacho failed standard field sobriety tests and was found to be allegedly intoxicated. Camacho was transported to the Fredonia barracks for processing where his blood alcohol level was found to be a reportable .12 percent. Camacho was released to appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
POMFRET – On Wednesday, Fredonia New York State Police arrested Daniel Klee, 50, of Dunkirk on an arrest warrant for issuing a bad check. The warrant was the result of an investigation on Aug. 5, when Fredonia New York State Police responded to Sears on Route 20, for a report of a bad check in the amount of $161.24 plus a $25 returned check fee.
When Klee failed to pay the check and return fee, an arrest warrant was issued by the Town of Pomfret Court on Aug. 14. Klee was processed at the Fredonia New York State Police station for issuing a bad check and arraigned at the Town of Pomfret Court.
Klee was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 property bond. He is scheduled to return to the Town of Pomfret Court on Oct. 28.
STOCKTON – On Wednesday, at 11:52 p.m., Fredonia New York State Police stopped a vehicle on County Route 380, in the Town of Stockton, for failing to signal when turning from County Route 58 onto County Route 380 and for going over the fogline.
The driver, Waldo Haskins, 55, of Sinclairville, failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Haskins was transported to the Fredonia New York State Police station for processing. Haskins blood alcohol level resulted in .22 percent.
Haskins was additionally charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, moved from lane unsafely and failure to signal a turn. He was issued uniform tickets returnable to the Town of Stockton Court on Oct. 20.

Sheriff warns of online scam
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of an online scam reported by a resident. The sheriff’s office received a complaint on Sept. 30 of a resident receiving a suspicious email regarding confirmation and availability for download of an alleged Delta Airline e-ticket.
The email had a zip file attachment stating the airline ticket was attached and had a ticket number of ET-14406096. The email was sent from an alleged Delta Air email address, custservice@sofaartfair.co. According to Delta, this email is not associated with the airline and e-tickets also do not begin with letters.
Police want to remind residents if they receive an email that appears to be suspicious, do not click on anything, you may get malware or viruses on your computer; just delete the email. Search the internet for a company contact, do not rely on information in the email. Residents are reminded to not take any action or give out any personal information in response.

RANDOLPH – Patrick P. Phillips, 33, of Dunkirk was charged on a family court warrant on Monday. Phillips was arraigned in Randolph Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

JAMESTOWN – Justin L. Bimber, 32, of Newton Avenue was charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and offering a false instrument for filing on Monday. Bimber allegedly failed to report receiving unemployment insurance benefits to the Chautauqua County Department of Social Services. As a result of this unreported income, Bimber received $1,714 in unentitled benefits from July to September 2013. Bimber is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. JAMESTOWN – Jared L. McMaster, 19, of Ashville was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, speeding, passing in a no passing zone and unlawful possession of marijuana on Sept. 25. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., deputies observed McMaster allegedly cross the double solid center lines and pass two other vehicles while traveling 60 mph in a 30 mph zone on Baker Street. McMaster was found to be in alleged possession of a quantity of marijuana. McMaster was released to appear in Jamestown City Court.

Man allegedly attempts to drive off tow truck
SILVER CREEK – A Sil-ver Creek man was charged after allegedly attempting to drive his vehicle off a flat bed truck Tuesday.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a Burgess Street residence for the report of a disorderly person.
Joseph M. Ryan, 30, of Burgess Street, allegedly became disorderly and attempted to interfere with the repossession of a vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. Ryan allegedly entered the vehicle while it was in tow and began spinning the vehicle’s tires in an attempt to remove the vehicle from a flatbed tow truck. This continued until Ryan’s vehicle drove partially off the side of the tow truck where it became lodged.
The action caused damage to the tow truck and endangered those on scene, according to police.
Ryan was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and released to appear in Silver Creek Village Court. Further charges are pending.

HANOVER – Bradley A. Brunea, 53, of Hanover was charged with trespass on Monday.
Deputies responded to a Route 39 address at 1:40 p.m. for the report of a male allegedly trespassing. Brunea allegedly went onto another person’s property after being advised multiple times to stay away.
Brunea was released to appear in Hanover Town Court.
SILVER CREEK – A 17-year-old youth was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Monday. Shortly after 1 p.m., deputies responded to a Jackson Street residence searching for a youth missing from school. The youth was found to be in alleged possession of a quantity of marijuana. The youth was released to appear in Silver Creek Village Court.
Female fugitive from Oklahoma is caught by New York State Police
ELLERY – On Sept. 24, New York State Police arrested Bradley D. Orr, 44 and April C. Patton, 35, both from Bemus Point, after a traffic stop on Bellview Road at 9 p.m for speeding.
The driver, Orr, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
A computer check of passenger Patton found that she was wanted for escape from a correction center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
While being taken into custody, Patton reportedly became combative and State Police were assisted by Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Both Orr and Patton were transported to Jamestown for processing.
A blood alcohol level of .08 percent was obtained for Orr, and he was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, suspended registration and speeding. All tickets are returnable to Ellery Town Court and Orr was released to a third party.
Patton was charged with resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, second-degree harassment and fugitive from justice. She was arraigned in Ellery Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail for the resisting, obstructing and harassment charges, but bail was denied for the fugitive from justice charge.
New York State Police at Fredonia
Saturday at 3:50 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle for speeding in zone on Route 60.
The operator, Emily Galus, 25, from Hamburg, reportedly failed standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Galus was transported to the Fredonia New York State Police Station for processing.
Galus was issued uniform tickets returnable to Pomfret Town Court on Oct. 21.
Two Jamestown men arrested for passing counterfeit money
JAMESTOWN – On Saturday, New York State Police arrested Daric W. Harris, 49, and Edward Maddox Jr., 56, both of Jamestown, concluding a two-month investigation into the passing of counterfeit $50 bills at a local convenience store in Gerry.
Harris and Maddox were charged with first-degree possession of a forged instrument. They were arraigned and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail each.
