Gowanda Police

≤ On Jan. 6, 2016, Gowanda Police investigated the larceny of approximately $600 in merchandise from a village business. The perpetrator was allegedly identified as Paul A. Russo, 44, of Jamestown, however, Russo could not be located and a warrant was issued by Persia Town Court for his arrest.

On Dec. 20 at roughly 2 p.m., patrol was notified that Russo was to be released from Chautauqua County Jail on an unrelated arrest. Gowanda Police retrieved Russo and arrested him on the warrant. Russo was arraigned in Cattaraugus Town Court and taken to Cattaraugus County Jail. Russo also has an active warrant for his arrest in the State of Pennsylvania. Russo will be sentenced on his charges in Gowanda, then extradited to Pennsylvania on their warrant.

≤ On Dec. 24 at around 8:04 p.m., patrol encountered a 16-year-old subject on Erie Avenue. A computer check revealed an active felony warrant for the arrest of said subject from Depew Town Court. The subject was arrested on the warrant and turned over to Depew Police.

≤ On Dec. 24 at approximately 3:09 a.m., patrol observed a vehicle cross a solid double yellow line, then fail to keep right. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Jonathan Carr, 36, of Springville, was allegedly exhibiting signs of intoxication. Carr failed several sobriety checks and a DMV computer check revealed that Carr did not have a valid driver’s license. Carr was arrested for failure to keep right, failure to use designated lane, DWI, and unlicensed operation. A subsequent breath chemical test resulted in a conclusion of .11 percent BAC.

≤ On Dec. 24 at roughly 10 p.m., patrol responded to a report of a disturbance at a Buffalo Street address. Patrol was informed that Brandon J. Brooks, 24, of Gowanda, had been involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation with a male acquaintance. Brooks allegedly punched the male victim a series of times in the face, then kicked his ribs repeatedly, causing multiple injuries. The victim was treated and transported to Lakeshore Hospital. Brooks was arrested for third-degree assault and released on an appearance ticket at Collins Town Court.
