Deputies administer naloxone to male

SILVER CREEK — On Friday at about 5:10 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to respond to a report of a male unresponsive at a residence on Rumsey Street in the Village of Silver Creek. Deputies arrived and determined that the subject was experiencing an opiate overdose. Deputies administered naloxone to the subject, who soon after became alert and responsive. The subject was transported by Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department personnel to Lake Shore Hospital for further treatment.

Woman charged with DWI, assaulting deputy

ALLEGANY — A Lawtons woman, already charged with driving while intoxicated by Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies, was slapped with an additional charge of assault after striking a deputy in the face.

Deputies reported Wednesday that Kiersten K. Kennedy, 24, of 12295 Versailes Plank Road was charged after having a blood alcohol content of 0.18 and moving from lane unsafely after she was stopped on State Route 417 at 2:30 a.m. April 3. While being transported, Kennedy was able to remove the handcuff restraints and wrapped them around her hand, striking a deputy. After a struggle, she was placed back in custody.

The injured deputy was transported by Allegany EMS to Olean General Hospital and treated for face lacerations. Kennedy was arraigned in Allegany Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.

Arrest made following alleged marijuana sale

EVANS — On March 13, a concerned parent came forward to the police department regarding the sale of marijuana to her juvenile child from a local individual. The juvenile was interviewed and a statement was taken, leading to charges being filed against the individual, Hunter J. Herlan, 21, of Evans, and an arrest warrant was requested with an order of protection through Town of Evans Justice Court.

On March 25, a narcotics search warrant and an arrest warrant were signed by Judge Dennis P. Glascott, Town of Evans Justice Court Judge. The search warrant was executed the following day. A traffic stop was initiated on Herlan after he left his residence. Herlan was taken into custody and subsequently searched, which revealed he was allegedly in possession of two THC concentrated cannabis cartridges.

Herlan was then transported back to his residence, where patrol was met by his mother. She was informed of the search warrant and patrol then searched Herlan’s bedroom. During the search, officers allegedly found four containers of concentrated cannabis, a digital scale, a straw with unspecified drug residue, three marijuana pipes and four marijuana bongs.

Herlan was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Herlan was transported to Evans Police Department for processing, booking and was held for arraignment.

Buffalo man with 21 driving suspensions arrested

EVANS — A Buffalo man was taken into custody after it was reported he had his driving license suspended more than 20 times.

On March 27 at around 2 a.m., patrol stopped a vehicle on Erie Road for having unauthorized colored lights. Patrol made contact with the driver, who allegedly informed patrol he had no form of identification on him, and provided the name Jeorge Ortiz.

Officers ran the name in New York and Florida with no results. After informing the driver multiple times about the consequences of giving a false name, officers said he eventually provided his real name: Jorge L. Carrasquillo, 36, of Buffalo.

Carrasquillo then stated his license was suspended, and when his real name was searched, it his license was revealed to be suspended a total of 21 times with 19 scoffs on 10 dates, along with two warrants out of the town of Tonawanda and the city of Buffalo.

Carrasquillo was placed under arrest and charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, false personation and unauthorized colored lights on vehicle.

Carrasquillo’s vehicle was impounded, he was then booked, held for arraignment and later remanded to Erie County Holding Center on $1,000 bail and $2,000 bond.

Evans Police

¯ On March 28 at about 11:30 p.m., patrol was called to the Angola Food Mart for a reported disturbance. Upon identifying the persons involved, it was found that John Harris, 48, of Buffalo, had a valid warrant out of Amherst Police Department. Harris was placed under arrest and subsequently turned over to Amherst police.

¯ On March 29 at roughly 10:45 a.m., a manager at Tops Friendly Markets on Erie Road reported an individual attempting to take groceries without paying for them. When the manager approached the individual and asked for a receipt, the individual left the cart and drove off. The manager got a picture of the vehicle and the registration number.

Officers then went to the residence of the registered owner and knocked on the door. The individual, Kelly A. Kauffman, 33, of Hamburg, answered the door, and stated, “I did something stupid. I took those groceries from Tops.”

Kauffman was charged with attempted petit larceny and issued an appearance ticket.
