BEMUS POINT — On May 12, troopers observed Kenneth Martinez, 37, of Jamestown, walking on I-86 in Bemus Point, allegedly smoking a marijuana cigarette. Martinez was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Martinez was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the town of Ellery Court on a later date.

North Collins Village Police Department

≤ On April 27, an officer was assigned to the Drug Drop Off Event, in conjunction with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Erie County Department of Health. During the drop-off, a total of 150 pounds of unwanted drugs and needles were collected and turned in to the DEA.

≤ In April 2019, North Collins police officers were on duty for 120 hours.

Officers responded to a total of 35 varying requests for police, including some traffic stops. These included: two motor vehicle accidents, one alarm, one open burning complaint, one animal complaint, one road obstruction, two assists to EMS, one assist to a motorist, four court details and the drug drop-off detail.

Regular property checks were conducted at schools, businesses, public property, all town parks and vacant properties. Regular curfew checks were conducted. Traffic control details were conducted at the conclusion of church Masses in the village and in Langford.

The North Collins Police Department issued 23 traffic tickets. These traffic tickets included 11 for speeding. The average speed for a speeding ticket for the month was 50.18 mph in a 35 mph zone. Eight tickets were issued for cell phone violations and four tickets were issued for stop sign violations.
