WESTFIELD — On Saturday, the Westfield Police Department received a tip that a male was walking down the fishing trail of Chautauqua Creek near Moose Beach, and it appeared he was smoking marijuana from a large piece of paraphernalia. When patrols arrived, they located the male and allegedly observed him smoking marijuana in the vicinity of other bystanders.
Patrols made contact with the subject, later identified as William R. Jackson, 33, of Erie, Pennsylvania. After an investigation, Jackson was issued appearance tickets for fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and violation of public health law – possession of controlled substance by ultimate users original container. He will answer his charges at a later date in the town of Westfield court.
