CHAUTAUQUA — On Thursday at 2:10 p.m., the sheriff’s department navigation deputy responded to the Sports Club Dock at Chautauqua Institution for a vessel that struck another vessel. Upon investigation, it was learned that Matthew G. Lockwood, 42, of Washington, D.C. was operating a vessel southbound through the docks when he allegedly struck another vessel that was docked.

Upon speaking with Lockwood, the deputy detected an odor of an intoxicant emitting from Lockwood. He was given a standardized field sobriety test, which he failed. Lockwood was given a chemical test, and the results shows a blood-alcohol content of .19%. Lockwood was issued tickets for boating while intoxicated, boating while intoxicated per se and unregistered vessel.
