Sherman man facing weapons charge

SHERMAN — A Sherman man who was allegedly prohibited from possession a firearm is facing charges.

Today at about 12:40 a.m. Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies checked a suspicious vehicle on Main Street in the town of Sherman. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old William F. Sloan Jr. It it alleged that Sloan was found to be in possession of a loaded rifle and it was also found that William Sloan was prohibited from possessing a rifle due to prior felony convictions.

Sloan was taken into custody and after processing was held at Chautauqua County Jail pending arraignment. He will appear in town of Sherman Court at a later date to answer a charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

STOW — On August 11, troopers pulled over a vehicle on I-86 for speeding. While speaking to the driver, Jarred Ristau, 20, of Jamestown, troopers allegedly smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of Ristau and his vehicle revealed a bag of cocaine, nine wax envelopes containing concentrated cannabis butter, a jar containing marijuana and two smoking devices. Ristau was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Ristau was transported to State Police Jamestown and processed. Ristau was issued appearance tickets and a traffic ticket and is scheduled to appear in town of North Harmony Court later in the month.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

POMFRET — On August 12 at about 1:53 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle commit an alleged traffic violation on Fredonia Stockton Road. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Joshua R. Green, 41, of Dunkirk. After an investigation, Green was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and no/inadequate lights. Green will answer the charges in town of Pomfret Court at a later date.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office

SOUTH DAYTON — On August 6 at about 10 a.m., Dennis R. Colin, 49, of South Dayton, was arrested on a violation of probation warrant issued out of South Dayton Village Court. Colin was transported to Persia Town Court, where he was arraigned and remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail on $2,500 bond. Colin will appear in South Dayton Village Court at a later date.

¯ On July 30, Alexis Morales-Cruz, 31, of Dunkirk was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

¯ On July 31, Cody R. Rodman, 23, of Dunkirk was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

¯ On July 31, Josh P. Rivas, 41, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree assault.

¯ On July 31, Adrian E. Rivera Salome, 21, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

¯ On July 31, Adrien Rivera-Velez, 40, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree assault.

¯ On Aug. 1, Eric J. James, 33, of Silver Creek was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

¯ On Aug. 2, Gretchen L. Schroeder, 29, of Gowanda was charged with DWI, DWI per se, aggravated DWI and movement in lane unsafely.

≤ On Aug. 3, Benjamin A Colaiacovo, of Dunkirk was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and no seat belt.

¯ On Aug. 5, Joshua T. Sosinski, 30, of Olean was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

¯ On Aug. 5, Ian T. Ward, 27, of Silver Creek was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

¯ On Aug. 6, Erick A. Almestica-Ayala, of Dunkirk was charged with second-degree menacing.

¯ On Aug. 6, James F. Beers, of Stockton was charged with petit larceny.

¯ On Aug. 7, John R. Tenamore, of Dunkirk was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
