Teens facing arson charges after fire breaks out in Gowanda
GOWANDA — Three teenagers are facing arson charges after a fire broke out Monday in the village of Gowanda.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced the charges — to two 17-year-olds and 19-year-old Zachary Balbuzoski of Collins — following an investigation into a blaze reported at 60 Park St.
The Sheriff’s Office Fire investigation Unit, along with K-9 Clipper, were summoned to the scene. In a news release, the Sheriff’s Office said the fire was ruled arson.
The three teens were taken into custody Tuesday with the assistance of the Gowanda Police Department.
All three are facing a charge of fourth-degree arson, a felony. The 17-year-olds were referred to Family Court while Balbuzoski was released with a ticket to appear in Collins Town Court at a later date.
