Sheridan woman faces assault charges after altercation

SHERIDAN — A Sheridan woman is facing assault charges after police say she seriously injured another person with a knife during an altercation.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies were alerted at 2:58 a.m. Saturday to a Route 20 home in the town of Sheridan for a reported physical altercation between two people involving a knife. Upon arrival, deputies located a person with a “serious arm injury as a result of being cut by the knife.”

An investigation found that 46-year-old Susan M. Snow caused the injury as a result of an argument. Deputies searched the area and located the knife hidden inside a vehicle glove box.

Snow was taken into custody on charges of second-degree assault and second-degree menacing. She was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

The victim was treated at the scene.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Chautauqua County EMS and Sheridan volunteer firefighters.
