CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

¯ FRENCH CREEK — Emma E. Whitman, 22, of Corry, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign. Deputies stopped at 9:13 p.m. Saturday a vehicle for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on King Road in the town of French Creek. Whitman was identified as the driver and was taken into custody. She is scheduled to appear in French Creek Town Court later.

¯ CHAUTAUQUA — An investigation into an accident in late November has led to charges against a Lakewood man for allegedly driving while under the influence of a combination of drugs.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies reported Sunday that Shawn L. Arnold, 41, was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to keep right after the afternoon accident with injuries that occurred on Nov. 25 on Route 430 in the town of Chautauqua.

Two vehicles, one operated by Jacqueline M. Tynan, 31, of Bemus Point, and the other operated by Arnold with Austin T. Syper, 42, of Westfield, as a passenger, were involved. At the time, Tynan was evaluated at the scene and released.

Arnold was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital to be further evaluated for injuries and later released. Arnold will be in the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date to answer for the charges.

¯ CLYMER — A blaze Saturday afternoon at 12:30 has been blamed on an improperly engineered wood stove.

The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested at 9734 Route 430 by the Findley Lake Fire Department. No injuries were reported in the incident.

¯ SILVER CREEK — An altercation late Friday has led to charges for a village resident.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report around they responded to an address in the village for a reported altercation around 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival all parties involved were interviewed and an investigation was conducted.

Cornelius Brown Jr., 31, had allegedly caused physical contact with another person in the residence and attempted to prevent that person from dialing 911 for emergency assistance. The altercation took place in front of a child less than 17 years of age. Brown was charged with second-degree harassment endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree attempted criminal mischief. Brown was transported to the Chautauqua County jail pending arraignment.

¯ GERRY — A Rochester man has been charged after a traffic stop on Route 60 and Kimball Drive in the town. Around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, deputies discovered the passenger of the vehicle had a valid stay away order of protection against the operator, Bruce J. Miles, 32. Miles was taken into custody on the charges of second-degree criminal contempt, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and other traffic infractions. Miles was transported to Chautauqua County Jail pending centralized arraignment.

¯ FRENCH CREEK — At about 7 p.m. Saturday, Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 426 in the town for a traffic violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Rory M. Benson, 35, of Ashville. Through further investigation, it was found that Benson was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Benson was subsequently charged with DWI, DWI per se, and failure to keep right. He is to be in the Town of French Creek court at a later date.

STATE POLICE AT JAMESTOWN

¯ A Jamestown woman has been charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.

New York State Police in Jamestown charged Steviloryan Platzer, 27, after Platzer was pulled over for committing a traffic violation on Steele Street and after failing several sobriety tests on Saturday. He was placed under arrest and transported to Jamestown barracks where she was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of marijuana.

Platzer was transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown where she provided a blood sample. Platzer was then transported back to SP Jamestown for processing. She was issued tickets and released, to appear in the city of Jamestown Court next month.

¯ CASSADAGA — A Niagara Falls man is facing charges after being found in possession of a handgun.

State Police in Jamestown charged Shane Jordon, 47, with criminal possession of a firearm. Troopers pulled over Jordon on Route 60 for a traffic violation on Friday and while speaking to Jordon, the troopers observed a handgun in Jordon’s vehicle plain view.

Further investigation revealed that Jordon didn’t have a New York State Pistol permit. Jordon was placed under arrest, transported to SP Jamestown and processed.

Jordon was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of Stockton Court on a later date.

¯ KENNEDY — Troopers charged Karen Webster, 51, of Jamestown, with felony driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Friday.

Webster was pulled over on Route 394 in Kennedy for failing to dim her high beams for on-coming traffic and after failing several sobriety tests, Webster was placed under arrest. Webster was transported to Jamestown where she provided a breath sample of 0.14. A check of Webster’s driving record revealed that her driving privileges in New York had been revoked for a DWI-related offense.

Webster was then processed, issued tickets and released. Webster is scheduled to appear in the town of Poland Court later in the month.

¯ KENNEDY — Troopers charged Katherine Depasquale, 58, of Kennedy, for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest on Wednesday.

Depasquale was pulled over for committing a traffic violation on Route 394 in Kennedy and after failing several sobriety tests, the troopers attempted to place Depasquale under arrest. Depasquale physically resisted arrest but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. Depasquale was transported to SP Jamestown where she provided a breath sample of 0.16.

Depasquale was then processed, issued an appearance ticket and traffic tickets and was released. Depasquale is scheduled to appear in the town of Poland Court on a later date.

¯ JAMESTOWN — Jose Rodriguezrobles, 25, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs on Wednesday.

Rodriguezrobles was pulled over for committing a traffic violation on Route 430 in Jamestown and after failing several sobriety tests. Rodriguezrobles was placed under arrest and transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown where a blood sample was secured.

Rodriguezrobles was then transported to Jamestown barracks where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of marijuana. Rodriguezrobles was processed, issued tickets and released. Rodriguezrobles is scheduled to appear in the city of Jamestown Court on a later date.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Howard F. Nichols, 48, of Westfield, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt. Officers were called to a reported fight at 1:20 a.m. Monday at 10 Jefferson St. It was found that Nichols allegedly violated an order of protection. He is scheduled to appear in Westfield Town Court later.
