Man charged following dispute at Westfield Pier

OBSERVER Staff Report

A city man is facing numerous charges following a domestic dispute at Barcelona Pier last week.

The Westfield Police Department on Tuesday announced the arrest of 46-year-old Jamie E. Norene, of Chandler Street. Officers were called to the pier Friday around 6:50 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute taking place in an RV.

A woman was located in the parking lot with “several injuries,” Westfield police said in a news release.

It was learned Norene allegedly punched the woman multiple times causing injury and that he choked the woman as well.

The victim escaped the RV by exiting a window.

“Jamie closed all the blinds and locked the doors and had barricaded himself inside the RV, refusing to come out,” Westfield police said. “Westfield police spoke with Jamie through the RV window for an extensive period of time and were able to get Jamie to exit the RV peacefully.”

Norene was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. He is facing charges of third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, unlawful imprisonment and second-degree aggravated harassment.

Officers were assisted at the scene by members of the Westfield Fire Department, Chautauqua County EMS and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
