Pennsylvania man seriously injured in ATV mishap

SHERMAN — A Pennsylvania man was flown by helicopter to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., after an ATV accident.

At around 3:16 p.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Sherman Fire Department responded to an address on French Creek Road. An investigation found that Eli D Laramie, 25, of Boalsburg was operating an ATV on private property when the accident occurred.

Laramie suffered serious physical injury as a result of the accident and was flown by STAT MedEvac. There are no charges as a result of this incident.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF

MINA — Around 3:10 a.m. Saturday, deputies of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address for a reported disturbance. Once on scene deputies located a male subject who was involved in the reported disturbance and identified him as Justin S. Butler, 39, of Utica.

Through an investigation it was determined that Butler was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Butler was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI, operating without ignition interlock device and unlicensed operation.

Butler was transported to the Sheriff’s Office in Mayville for processing and later brought to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.

— ELLERY At about 2:01 a.m. Saturday, the Chautauqua County sheriff’s office conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 86. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Benjamin M. Winkler.

Further investigation found Winkler to be driving while intoxicated. He was taken into custody and charged with DWI, DWI per se, and speed in zone. Winkler was later released to be in town court later.

— HANOVER — Around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, patrol responded to a residence for a report of a disorderly person. Upon further investigation it was discovered that Luis A. Gomez Jr., 35, had pushed another person and struck them with an object.

After this, Gomez began chasing the other person around with a wooden pole. He was placed in custody where he was later processed and transported to the county jail to be arraigned.

Gomez will be in town court at a later date.
