CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Two arrests have been made in connection with north county narcotics sales.

At 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, the Dunkirk Police Department along with Dunkirk Police Narcotics Detectives, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators, village of Fredonia Police Department, and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 10455 Bennett Road, Room 117 in the village of Fredonia. A vehicle at the same location was also searched.

This was the result of a two-month investigation into narcotics sales out of the Econo Lodge Motel. At the address at the time of the warrant execution was 41-year-old Megan Waterman of Fredonia and 41-year-old Dale Miller Jr. of Dunkirk.

As a result of the search investigators found 8.72 grams of fentanyl, .10 grams of crack cocaine, 16.26 grams of methamphetamine, scales and packaging material for narcotics sales and $1,249 in U.S. currency. Both Waterman and Miller were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. Waterman also had an arrest warrant from City of Dunkirk Court. Both suspects were transported to the Centralized Arraignment Program at the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

SPRINGVILLE — An Evans man has been charged after a hit-and-run crash on Monday.

Erie County Sheriff deputies responded to the incident at a gas station on South Cascade Drive in the village. Deputies gathered information, including a description of the vehicle that fled the scene.

On Tuesday, deputies located the vehicle and a town of Evans address and determined the operator was 40-year-old Francis Chaplin of Evans. Chaplin was charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and two vehicle and traffic violations.

Deputies also discovered Chaplin had an outstanding warrant out of Buffalo from October 2022 for various vehicle and traffic violations.

The defendant was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
