JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Dakota M. Proestler, 23, of Jamestown, was charged with being a fugitive from justice. Officers were patrolling an area of East Second Street at 3:57 a.m. Tuesday when they observed Proestler, who had known warrants from the city of Jamestown and Warren County Sheriff’s Office in Pennsylvania. Proestler was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail. He was being held on the charge and local warrants.

¯ Katelyn A. Burgstrom 29, of Jamestown, was charged with third-degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Officers responded at 10:40 p.m. Monday to a residence on the east side of the city for a reported domestic dispute. Officers learned that Burgstrom allegedly kicked a man in the face, causing an injury. It was also learned that Burgstrom had reportedly left her two kids unattended at her home without supervision. She was transported to jail and held for arraignment.

¯ Kyle N. Lewis, 31, of Jamestown was charged with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and three counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphanalia after a traffic stop at 12:45 p.m. Monday at West Sixth and Clinton streets. According to a police report, a vehicle Lewis was riding in was pulled over for a traffic violation and Lewis was found to allegedly be in possession of heroin, methamphetamines, suboxone, fentanyl and drug paraphanalia. He was taken to the Jamestown City Jail until he could be arraigned.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ PORTLAND — A trespassing complaint led to a bit more trouble for a Gerry woman. Chautauqua County sheriff’s office investigators were dispatched to a location on Webster Road around 2:20 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, investigators identified the subject on scene as Amanda S. Sendall, 36. Through an investigation Sendall was found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. Additionally it was found that Sendall attempted to cut off a catalytic converter on a vehicle located on the property. Sendall was charged with trespass, fourth-degree criminal mischief and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Sendall did have active warrants out of the town of Hanover for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Sendall was arraigned in front of CAP Court and remanded to jail.

SENTENCING

¯ James Morris, 40, of Jamestown, was convicted of second-degree assault, a class D felony, after he allegedly attacked several members of UPMC Chautauqua while a patient at the hospital in October 2020. On Tuesday, County Court Judge David Foley sentenced Morris to four years in state prison plus three years of parole supervision. “Our medical staff work tirelessly to help the injured and sick of our community; those persons who attack and hurt them will be held accountable,” District Attorney Jason Schmidt said.
