JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Michael E. Kranking, 40, of Jamestown was charged with endangering the welfare of a child at 2:30 a.m. May 8. At 11 a.m. Friday, officers were called to a Jamestown home for a report of a physical incident involving a 2-year-old child. A witness told police Kranking had thrown the child, with the child hitting its head and experiencing pain. Kranking was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.

– Rashaun M. Smith, 45, of Jamestown was charged with two counts of second-degree assault following an incident which took place Sunday morning. Officers responded to a call at UPMC Chautauqua at 9:31 a.m. for reports of a disorderly person. Officers report Smith was being restrained by members of UPMC’s security staff after he allegedly assaulted employees as they were providing him with medical attention. Smith was charged and taken to the city jail pending arraignment.

– Patrick F. Patterson, 49, of Jamestown was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a bicycle without a headlight, following an incident which took place at 3:21 a.m. Monday morning. Officers while on patrol near, east Sixth Street and Prendergast Avenue allegedly saw Patterson committing a traffic infraction while biking. Officers report that Patterson had 4.3 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. Patterson was taken to the city jail, pending arraignment.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— SHERIDAN — At 4:42 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to check on a disabled vehicle alongside Route 20. After a brief investigation it was determined that Joseph Pisa, 60 of Sheridan was involved with a single motor vehicle accident and was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

Pisa was taken into custody and charged with DWI, Moved From Lane Unsafely, and is to be in the Town of Sheridan Court at a later date and time.
