Reckless driving complaints

on rise in city

Over the course of the past week, the Dunkirk Police Department has received several complaints regarding motorcycles operating recklessly in the area of Wright Park, Lake Front Boulevard and Lake Shore Drive East.

Several vehicle and traffic stops were made in regards to these complaints over the course of the last several days, with a total of 12 traffic tickets issued relating to the complaints and one motorcycle being towed and impounded.

The Dunkirk Police Department reminds all motorists to exercise caution in the lake front area, as these areas tend to be more highly populated as summer approaches. If anyone wishes to report a vehicle operating recklessly please contact the Dunkirk Police Department at 716-366-2266.

SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

CHERRY CREEK — At around 10:53 p.m. Sunday, deputies were on routine patrol and stopped a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation.

Through an investigation it was found that the operator, Nicholas Gross, 38, from Forestville, was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated.Gross was charged with DWI, DWI per se and moved from lane unsafely.

Gross was transported to a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s substation and will be in town court at a later date and time.
