ELECTRICAL FIRE QUICKLY DOUSED AT UPMC CHAUTAUQUA Jamestown firefighters quickly doused a fire at the UPMC Chautauqua hospital on Foote Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Officials report crews responded at 12:23 p.m. to the facility where smoke was showing. Responders then headed to the east elevator penthouse area and located a room that contained the fire. Crews checked the fire room and located electrical components of the elevator system burning. They then used a dry chemical extinguisher to extinguish the fire. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE – A Dunkirk man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident Thursday night. According to deputies, around 10:30 p.m. Christopher Ley, 63, of Dunkirk was located a short distance from a vehicle accident on Concord Road in the town of Pomfret. Deputies were assisted in the search by Jamestown’s K-9 unit. Along with felony DWI, Ley was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Six Western New York residents are facing charges after a fight earlier this week on the 500 block of Main Street. At about 3:50 p.m., city of Dunkirk officers responded to the report of a subject with a handgun. As officers were arriving a large fight broke out between several subjects.
