Alleged crossbow murderer arraigned in court

A Jamestown man has officially been indicted in a murder earlier this year in the city. Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced that David Nelson was arraigned Monday in Chautauqua County Court by Judge David W. Foley on a one-count indictment charging him with second-degree murder, arising from the death of 62-year-old Michael Jaeckle of Jamestown. Nelson is accused of intentionally causing the death of Jaeckle by shooting him in the neck with a crossbow on Sept. 12. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — ARKWRIGHT — Around 7:59 p.m. Thursday, deputies were made aware of an in-progress order of protection violation. Through an investigation it was determined that Dakota S. Sugg, 30, of Dunkirk was actively violating a full stay away order of protection when he made numerous phone calls to the protected party in the presence of the deputies. ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT - Shawn Robert W. Bailey, 18, of Randolph, was charged Nov. 15 with petit larceny. According to police, officers responded to Crosby’s Convenience Store on Route 60, for a reported larceny where it is alleged that Bailey entered the store and took merchandise. Bailey then ran out of the store with merchandise without paying. Bailey was identified and turned himself in to police. He will be in Ellicott Town Court later. - Shawn A. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT — MAYVILLE — A Brocton man has been charged in a 2023 burglary. On Nov. 18, 2023, deputies were called to investigate a burglary that occurred in the village where a moped was stolen from a shed. Through an investigation deputies were able to get enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief for the arrest of James Mawhir, 36. Jamestown woman facing federal meth charges

BUFFALO — U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced last week that Micayla L. Blair, 23, of Jamestown, was charged by criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who is handling the case, stated that on Oct. 30, investigators executed a search warrant at a William Street residence connected to Blair. JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT - Anthony L. Anzalone, 49, was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree criminal contempt. According to police, at about 11:21 p.m., officers responded to a Northside address for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the female victim. It was discovered that Anzalone allegedly had destroyed her property, inside her residence, and then fled the scene.
