Westfield Memorial Hospital’s Chautauqua Clinic gets renovated
CHAUTAUQUA — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Chautauqua Clinic has been newly renovated, and will be at the disposal of David Trusel, Westfield physician’s assistant, to further handle the health needs of residents staying at Chautauqua Institution.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted last week to commemorate the completion of the $250,000 project that included the installation of new furniture and amenities, the application of a new exterior paint job and configuration of central heating and air conditioning.
Trusel, who has worked with Westfield Memorial Hospital for 30 years, has helped care for Chautauqua patients for 11 years.
He said he’ll be able to provide health care for patients from checkups to necessary sutures and splints.
Chautauqua’s clinic was formerly a women’s dress store in the 1950s, meaning the storefront-style windows provide an open outside view for Chautauqua Institution residents to peer into the newly remodeled building.
Officials from Westfield Memorial Hospital, Allegheny Health Network, Saint Vincent Hospital and Chautauqua Institution gathered to commemorate the reopening of the clinic, located at 21 Roberts Ave.
“The Chautauqua Primary Care Clinic has, since 1993, provided residents and visitors at the Chautauqua Institute with the security of knowing they have high quality health care close by should they become ill or suffer a minor injury,” said Westfield Memorial Hospital acting president Henry Ward. “And the renovations we celebrate today make the clinic a more attractive and comfortable setting for patients.”
A nurse and receptionist will help Trusel give primary care to residents who need it this summer.
On average, about 1,000 patients are cared for every summer season.
The clinic will be open from Monday to Aug. 25 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 357-3209.
