John Felton

JAMESTOWN — The Business Teachers Association of New York State (BTANYS) announces John Felton, CEO of Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, as the winner of the Hobart H. Conover Friend of Business Education Award for 2018-2019. This award recognizes an individual or organization outside the field of business education for their meritorious contribution to the improvement, promotion, development, and progress of business education.

Mr. Felton was responsible for creating the Kids Credit Union which is in various schools, is free to the school and students, and has received regional and national recognition. “The unique design of the program is that each participating student will graduate with a savings account of $10,000,” according to news release that announced the award.

He speaks to many, especially young people, about a variety of financial topics. Additionally, he is involved in Junior Achievement. He has served as an originating board member of New York State Community Development Financial Institution Coalition, and he is currently Vice-Chair of the New York State Credit Union Foundation.
