Greg Fernandez named CFO of Heritage Group

Greg Fernandez, CPA and MBA of Syracuse, has been named chief financial officer of the Heritage Group.

Fernandez comes to Heritage with a background of more than 38 years in financial management, specializing in not-for-profit organizations, previously serving as a consultant for ProNexus, and CFO of New York Franciscan Management Services in Syracuse.

“We welcome Greg’s expertise as we look forward to the future, knowing that he will work alongside our dedicated teams to ensure we continue to establish and implement procedures and applications that help Heritage achieve the goal of being fiscally sound,” said Lisa Haglund, president and CEO. “His experience in not-for-profit financial management will help to ensure a strong and healthy future as we work each day to promote hope, dignity, and purposeful living to all those entrusted to our care.”

Fernandez obtained both his bachelor’s in accounting and his master’s in business administration from LeMoyne College in Syracuse and has been employed with Heritage as the interim CFO since May 2020. In his role, Fernandez will be responsible for the oversight of all financial operations at Heritage and its affiliates, nationwide.

“I am excited to join Heritage Charitable Care Ministries as the permanent chief financial officer,” Fernandez said. “I am looking forward to working alongside all of the wonderful, dedicated employees that contribute to the wonderful mission of Heritage.”

He lives in Syracuse with his wife Barbara. They have two sons, Gregory and Michael. Fernandez also serves as a member of the Supervisory Committee for the Empower Federal Credit Union in Syracuse.
