Dunkirk community survey

The city of Dunkirk is currently working on a new Comprehensive Plan that will define future planning goals, objectives and strategies for the city. This Plan will guide future decision making related to improving the city’s downtown, waterfront, neighborhoods, housing, municipal services, public infrastructure, parks and recreation, and overall promotional and economic development efforts.

Public input is critical to the success of the city’s plan. Therefore, the city is distributing a community survey and will be holding a Visioning Open House on July 31 at two separate locations.

All city residents and business owners are invited to complete the community survey and participate in the Visioning Open House to contribute their ideas and recommendations on how to improve the city. The Community Survey and all materials at the Open House will be available in both English and Spanish.

The two Open House events will be held on July 31 at the following locations:

Chautauqua Township Historical Society will meet Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. in the Sid Compton Room at the old Mayville high school, Academy St.

The public is invited to hear James Kurtz of Mayville talk about his efforts to honor veterans, especially Purple Heart recipients.
