Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 12 to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an Adoption Day, call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet). Also, LHS will hold an “Adoption Evening” on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Bridge closure in Poland announced

Poland Center Road, County Route 42, in the town of Poland, between Route 394 and Route 62, will be closed to traffic due to bridge replacement beginning effective Monday, Aug. 6. A detour will be posted. This closure shall remain in effect until detour signs are removed. Work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by end of October.

Taylors 100 year reunion

TAYLOR’S 100TH Family reunion will be held at Point Gratiot Park in Dunkirk on Aug 5 at 1 p.m. Family members are asked to bring a dish to pass and a gift to add to the auction. 100 years ago, two men started the reunion to keep the family together, and to have one every year. It is their love for the family that keeps it going. Hope to see all of the family members there. 100 YEARS. Something to be proud of.

Trinity Lutheran Church indoor yard sale planned for Saturday

Trinity Lutheran Church, through a generous donation from Thrivent Financial, will be holding its annual indoor yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the Silver Creek village-wide sales. Featured are a large selection of books, greeting cards, craft materials and a heavenly variety of household items sold at devilishly low prices.

In addition, the men of the church will be sponsoring a Sahlen’s hot dog sale starting at 10 a.m. A value meal including a hot dog, bag of chips, bottle of water and bag of cookies will be sold for $3. A hot dog will cost $1.50.

In appreciation for their dedication, the Silver Creek Emergency Squad will receive 50 percent of the yard sale proceeds and 100 percent of the hot dog sale proceeds. The church is located at 15 Porter Ave. in Silver Creek.

Stephan Waite family 139th reunion

The Stephan Waite family 139th reunion will be held at Point Gratiot in one of the small pavilions this Saturday, Aug. 4 at noon. Family members are asked to bring a dish to pass. With questions, call Bonnie Kemp at 268-1074.

Cardinal Mindszenty High School all years reunion

Alumni of CMHS will again gather for this biennial event on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the American Legion Post 62 on lower Central Avenue in Dunkirk. Graduates from 1955 through 1979 are encouraged to attend and share memories, refreshments, music of the era and light entertainment. Spouses, significant others and friends are also invited to this informal event, which will begin at 7 p.m. Spread the word.
