Fredonia First Friday Community Contra Dance planned for Sept. 7

Yay! It’s time to dance again! If you haven’t yet joined, come and see what all the excitement is about. Maybe your parents or grandparents used to square dance. Maybe you’ve seen a barn dance depicted in a television show or movie. Come check it out. It’s great exercise and tremendous fun, all done to live music!

Come alone or with friends or family. No fancy footwork needed, even young children can learn the moves.

All are invited to the Fredonia First Friday Community Contra Dance, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the Fredonia Grange No. 1, 58 W. Main St. Adults: $7, students: $5. Ages 12 and under: free. Dances are taught and called by Joe Kwiatkowski. The first one of the season is Sept. 7. Subsequent dances will be held the first Friday of the month through June 2019.

The band this month is Fredonia’s own Viol Habits. All dances will be taught and called by Joe Kwiatkowski.

Wear or bring comfortable shoes. If the warm weather continues, it may get a bit steamy in the hall, so dress accordingly. Wearing layers is always a good option. There will be large fans available if needed. There will be water available, but bringing your own water bottle is a good idea, too.

Snacks at the break are potluck, so feel free to bring something yummy to share.

The costs are: adults $7; Students $5; Children 12 and under FREE.

This monthly event is sponsored by Fredonia Grange No. 1.
