CASAC (Chautauqua Alcohol & Substance Abuse Council) presents Active Parenting: First Five Years
Build a strong foundation for your children. Your child’s first years are so important! Learn how to make the most of them with Active Parenting: First Five Years.
In this program, you’ll learn the best ways to nurture your child from birth to pre-K with a “just right” combination of freedom and nonviolent discipline. Give your kids a strong start.
Four two- hour sessions of the Parenting Group will take place on Feb. 20, 27, March 13 and a date to be announced. Sessions will be held at the Mental Health Association (MHA), 31 Water St., Door 14, Suite 7, Gateway Center, Jamestown.
Topics include: What a baby’s cry means; ages and stages of development; building a strong bond; your child’s growing brain; using mindfulness to keep your cool; effective discipline young children can understand; choices and consequences; six ways to prepare your child for school success and much more!

Sinclairville Free Library plans musical jam session for Jan. 31
The Sinclairville Free Library, located at 15 Main St., invites the public to participate in a musical jam session on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring voices and/or instruments as the library comes together to make music in the community. Audience members are also needed. This event is free and open to all ages. Call 962-5885 for additional information.
Portland Pomfret Dunkirk Sewer Board Meeting
There will be a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Portland Pomfret Dunkirk Sewer Board. The meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be held today at 3 p.m. The meeting will be at the Town of Dunkirk meeting room on Willow Road.
Charlie Rodriguez House Fire Rebuild benefit set for Feb. 1
A Charlie Rodriguez House Fire Rebuild benefit will be held Friday, Feb. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m. or sold out at the American Legion Post 327, 7579 E. Route 20, Westfield. The $10 admission includes a spaghetti dinner or a roast beef sandwich. A child’s menu is available for $5. Other events include a Chinese auction, 50/50 and, DJ karaoke to follow. Pre-sale tickets are available by calling the Legion at 326-3924, or purchase tickets at the door.
