Fredonia residents may experience water issues today

Residents on Forbes Place and portions of Lambert Avenue, Leon Place, Cottage Street and Pleasant Avenue in the village of Fredonia may have an interruption in water service due to a water main break between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon today.

Jennifer Koh concert cancelled

Due to an injury, the concert featuring violinist Jennifer Koh slated for Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Rosch Recital Hall at the State University of New York at Fredonia has been cancelled. It is hoped that the event can be rescheduled at a future date.

Kiwanis Club of Westfield-Ripley annual turkey dinner set for Thursday

The Kiwanis Club of Westfield-Ripley will hold its annual turkey dinner on Thursday, Feb. 7 at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church Hall, 17 Union St., Westfield, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The dinner is an annual event to raise funds sending children and those less fortunate to Kamp Kiwanis, also high school students interested in leadership education to the Key Leader program at camp Stella Maris in Livonia, New York. The dinner consists of turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, peas, a roll and butter, coffee, tea, and cake or pie for dessert. The cost of the tickets for this dinner are adult pre-sale $9 or $10 at the door, $5 for children 5 through 12, and under 5 are free.

The Kiwanis Club sponsors the local Key Club and Builder’s Club under the supervision of Diane Scarpine. Kiwanis Club members work with the students and involve them in community service projects teaching the values of leadership and service.

Villenova Burial Association third annual “Love Remembered” bake/craft sale planned

The Villenova Burial Association will hold its third annual “Love Remembered” bake/craft Sale in the entryway of the South Dayton Supermarket, 303 Pine St., on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fund-raiser theme is a symbol of friendship and affection, remembering those held close in our hearts during this celebration time of love! All proceeds will help defray the maintenance and operating costs of the Villenova Cemetery. The event also offers an opportunity for members of the community to learn about the Association and how they might help in efforts to maintain and preserve the over 200 year old cemetery.

Ahira Hall Library hosts Author Talk Wednesday

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St. in Brocton will host local Author, J. Andersen, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Andersen will be discussing “Legacy’s Impact,” the latest release in her Destiny by Design Trilogy. Join her at the library for a unique opportunity to hear about the book and to ask questions about writing, publishing and dystopian literature. This event is appropriate for ages 12+. Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis will be holding her monthly “Coffee with the Mayor” in her office at Village Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.

Canvas paint event set for Saturday

“Country Willows” Canvas Paint Event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Grape Discovery Center, 8305 W. Main Road in Westfield. The $40 cost includes a complimentary glass of wine, light refreshments and all painting supplies. Advance reservations are required.
