Community Sing-Along planned for May 8

A Community Sing-Along will be held Wednesday, May 8 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the Fredonia Grange No. 1, 58 W. Main St., Fredonia. Join in a good old campfire sing-along in an indoor setting. All voices are welcome; the event is free for all. For details, call Joe at 679-8426.

Toastmasters Club to meet Wednesday

Make a decision today to invest in yourself and get better, as if your future depends on it, because it does. Toastmasters goal is to build confidence in communication and leadership skills. The next meeting of the Concord Spellbinders Toastmasters Club will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 on the campus of SUNY Fredonia, Room 180, Fenton Hall. Guests may attend at no charge.

NY State Tree Farm Program workshop Thursday in Randolph

The AFC Chapter of the New York Forest Owners Association (NYFOA) will be offering a free workshop about how the NYS Tree Farm Program can benefit forest owners. Eric Stawitzky, western region representative, will give an overview of the program and answers questions.

The event will take place at the Randolph Community Center on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m.

Citizens for a Better Cassadaga planning Thursday meeting

The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will meet on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at the Cassadaga Library, 18 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. Planting in Ames Common and other future projects will be discussed. All area residents are encouraged to attend.

Flapjack fundraiser Saturday to support student travel

Students from Silver Creek High School will be cooking and serving a delicious hot pancake breakfast at Applebee’s, 3908 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk, on Saturday, May 11 from 8 to 10 a.m. as part of a fund-raiser supporting the Spring Break 2020 international trip to England, France and Ireland.

Consider taking Mom out for an early Mother’s Day breakfast and support cultural education of local students at the same time. Tickets to this flapjack fund-raiser cost $8 and include pancakes, bacon and unlimited juice or coffee. They are available by emailing jkardashian@silvercreekschools.org, calling 574-5798 or from any student going on the trip. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Hae Jude Softball Tournament, Weidner’s barbecue May 10-11

The Silver Creek softball team will be hosting the Eighth Annual Hae Jude Softball Tournament on May 10 and 11 at the Silver Creek Softball Fields located by the Elementary School.

Games on Friday will begin at 4 p.m. with Randolph playing North Collins, and Brocton playing Pine Valley. The host team will go up against Allegany-Limestone, and Sherman will play Forestville at 5:45.

Games will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and conclude with the Championship Game scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

The Softball Booster Club will have food and drinks available to purchase on both days and will have Weidner’s chicken and pork sandwich dinners available on Saturday, May 11 for $12 each beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. Each dinner will include a quarter barbecued chicken, pulled pork sandwich, spuds, cole slaw and a roll and butter. Patrons may purchase dinners on May 11 at the tournament or call Donna Hill at 785-5359 for tickets or more information.
