Great Lakes Offshore Grand Prix to air Sunday

Mayor Wilfred Rosas has announced a time change for the Dunkirk’s Great Lake Offshore Grand Prix that was filmed in Dunkirk last August 2018, will be seen on CBS Sports Network Sunday, May 12 from 9-10 a.m.

Flapjack fundraiser today supports student travel

Students from Silver Creek High School will be cooking and serving a delicious hot pancake breakfast at Applebee’s, 3908 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk, today, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. as part of a fundraiser supporting the Spring Break 2020 international trip to England, France and Ireland.

Consider taking Mom out for an early Mother’s Day breakfast and support cultural education of local students at the same time. Tickets to this flapjack fundraiser cost $8 and include pancakes, bacon and unlimited juice or coffee. They are available by emailing jkardashian@silvercreekschools.org, calling (716) 574-5798 or from any student going on the trip. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Evans Garden Club annual Plant Auction and Sale

The Evans Garden Club will hold its annual plant auction and sale today, May 11. The sale will be held at the Evans Center Vol. Fire Co., 8298 Erie Road, (Route 5) Angola. The sale will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., auction at 11 a.m. There will be a plant auction and sale, theme basket drawing, gardener’s gallery and flower boutique, hanging baskets, Mother’s Day gifts and more.

Brothers of the Road Bikers for St. Jude inaugural bike blessing today

The inaugural bike blessing and fund-raiser for St. Jude Hospital will be held by Brothers of the Road today, May 11 beginning at the Point Gratiot Park Large Pavilion, Point Drive N., Dunkirk. Registration takes place between 10 a.m. to noon, Kick stands up and the blessing is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Registration is $10. A short ride is planned to the Brothers of the Road Clubhouse, 2707 Lakeshore Drive, Silver Creek for a party with music, 50/50 drawings and a Chinese auction. The Pet Pantry’s Mothers’ Day Craft Show

The annual Pet Pantry’s Mothers Day craft and gift show will take place Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Enjoy over 50 handmade-only crafters. Still looking for a gift? Find it here. There will be everything from crochet and knit, textiles, jewelry, woodworking, cement art, spa products, lotions, soaps, candles, ceramics, candy, baked goods, fudge, honey products, outdoor decor to hanging baskets and more. Ripley Public Library fund-raiser planned tonight

Ripley Public Library will hold a fund-raiser featuring “The Untouchables” live and in concert tonight, May 11, from 7-10 p.m. at the Quincy Cellars, 10606 W. Main St., Ripley. Tickets are $25 per person for an evening of music, fun and food. A cash bar will feature local wines and craft beer. There will also be a 50/50 drawing. Call 736-3913 to reserve tickets. All proceeds benefit the Ripley Library building fund.

South Dayton Volunteer Fire Co. Mother’s Day chicken barbecue

The South Dayton Volunteer Fire Co. will hold its annual Mother’s Day Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue on Sunday, May 12 from 11:30 a.m. until sold out at the South Dayton Fire Co. Activities Hall, 34 Maple St. The price of $10 includes a half chicken, salads and dessert.

Chapter No. 459 Vietnam Veterans of America to meet

On Sunday, May 12 at 11 a.m., Chapter No. 459 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will meet at John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. All members are encouraged to attend. Contact Danny S. McGill, chapter secretary, with questions at 366-2287.

Sheridan Post 6390 VFW Auxiliary meeting set

The Auxiliary of the Sheridan VFW Post 6390, located at 2556 Main Road, Silver Creek will hold its regular monthly meeting at the post this coming Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meetings are held every second Monday of the month.

Gowanda Legion Auxiliary to meet

The Gowanda Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 409 will be accepting nominations for their unit officers (President, Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer) at their May meeting. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gowanda Legion. Officers are elected annually. All members are encouraged to attend. Officer elections and installation will be held at their June 10 meeting.
