City parade plans underway

Preparations are under way for the annual Memorial Day parade in the city of Dunkirk. The parade begins on Lake Shore Drive West with the lineup set to start at 10:45 a.m. Those who wish to march should reach out to Dunkirk Special Events at 366-9877.

CCIDA to meet May 28

The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) Board of Directors will hold a meeting at the BWB Building, second floor board room, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown, on May 28 at 10 a.m.

County Ethics Board to meet today

The Chautauqua County Ethics Board will be holding a meeting today at 3:15 p.m. in Room 333 of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. Mayville. Current members of the board are Susan Dilks, John Lloyd, Rose Sebouhian, Mary Kay Szwejbka, and David Rowe. Sheridan Town Board to meet

A public hearing will be held by the Sheridan Town Board on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in the town of Sheridan Community Center, 2777 Route 20. The hearing is in regards to proposed Local Law No. 2 of the year 2019, which aims to enact a six-month moratorium on the construction, maintenance and placement of any large scale solar energy systems.

SCCS Music Alumni Reunion committee meeting planned

The organizing committee for the upcoming Silver Creek Central School music alumni reunion and concert will be meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss plans, including music selection for the performance. All alumni of the school’s music program are encouraged to participate in the combined band and chorus performance scheduled for Saturday, July 6. Family and Caregiver Group for Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities

The next meeting of the Dunkirk/Fredonia Family and Caregiver Group for Parents of Children with Developmental Disabilities will take place today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Western New York DDSO, 258 E. Main St., Fredonia. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month. Subsequent dates are May 15 and June 19.

The group provides a welcoming environment for parents, family members and other caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities to meet, share experiences, ask questions and receive support.

Meetings are free to attend and all are welcome. To attend, RSVP to www.parentnetwork.org or 332-4170 or info@parentnetworkwny.org. Funding for this group is provided by a Family Support Services grant from the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.

Brooks Memorial Hospital Retirees luncheon Thursday

Brooks Memorial Hospital Retirees will hold their monthly luncheon on Thursday at 11:30 a.m., at Applebee’s, 3908 Vineyard Drive, Dunkirk.

Westfield-Portland Union Cemetery Board meeting today

The Westfield-Portland Union Cemetery Board will have its annual spring meeting today. It will be held in the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, 101 E. Main St., Westfield at 7 p.m.

Chautauqua Striders college, career expo set

Chautauqua Striders presents STRIDES 4 SUCCESS, a College and Career Expo for local high school students.

Today, from 2 to 5 p.m., Chautauqua Striders will offer a college and career expo for local high school students in the Dunkirk High School Gymnasium, 75 W. Sixth St., Dunkirk.

STRIDES 4 SUCCESS attendees will have the opportunity to: select and obtain professional attire (at no charge); receive a free haircut while learning about professional appearance; and/or speak to local employers, colleges, and branches of the armed services.

Chautauqua Striders is accepting donations of gently-used professional clothing at the Dunkirk office located at 296 Lakeshore Drive East. Donations may be dropped off between the times of 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. For more information, contact Lisa Perrone or Karissa Zimmer at 363-2203.
