Hydrant flushing planned in Dunkirk

During the hours of midnight until approximately 6 a.m. starting Monday, the city of Dunkirk will begin flushing water mains and fire hydrants in the city.

The flushing will take approximately three weeks and during this process residents may, for brief periods of time, experience slightly cloudy water and reduced water pressure. The Dunkirk Water Department recommends that residents check the cloudiness of their water before laundering and cooking.

40th reunion for the Dunkirk High School Class of 1979 planned

The plans for the 40th reunion for the Dunkirk High School Class of 1979 are now finalized for its upcoming class reunion.

Friday, July 5 is a Meet and Greet to be held at the American Legion Post #62 from 7 to 10 p.m. Pizza, wings, refreshments will be provided.

Saturday, July 6 is a dinner get-together being held at the Northern Conservation Club starting at 6 p.m.

If anyone is interested in attending both or one of these events, the committee urges you to send in your reservations by June 9.

Responses have been very slow and the event may have to be canceled if more classmates do not participate.

Special attention to members of the NY Telephone Retirees and former co-workers and friends

There will be a special summer luncheon of the NY Telephone retirees and former co-workers and friends on Monday, June 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the Clarion Hotel Restaurant, 30 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk. Call 366-3401 for details.

Sip and Paint event scheduled June 5

Two local favorites team up! Lake Erie Grape Discovery Center and Color Me Tipsy Studio join forces to bring this exciting Sip & Paint event! Come to the beautiful Grape Discovery Center, 8305 West Main Road, Route 20, Westfield to paint “Purple Haze” led by local artist Taleana Hehir of Color Me Tipsy Studio. The event will take place Wednesday, June 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. The ticket price of $40 includes everything that is needed to create this fun 16“x20” canvas painting as well as a complimentary glass of wine, or non-alcoholic beverage, and even some light snacks! A portion of the proceeds will go to the not-for-profit Lake Erie Grape Discovery Center, so support your local community and get your tickets today! A ticket must be purchased IN ADVANCE for each attendee. Ticket sales end on Wednesday, June 5 at noon. Seating is LIMITED, so DON’T WAIT as a sell-out is expected. Notice of collection of Village of Fredonia taxes

Taxes for the fiscal year June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020 will be received at the Fredonia Village Tax Office, 9 – 11 Church St., Fredonia daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June 3, 2019 to and including July 1, 2019, excepting Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays without penalty.

Beginning July 2, 2019, 5% will be added for the month of July and 1% for each month thereafter until Sept. 20, 2019, at which time unpaid taxes will be forwarded to the Department of Real Property Tax Services in Mayville for collection.
