Celebration, fundraiser at Mary’s Deli today for Rural Ministry emergency food pantry

Looking for something to do today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.? Stop by Mary’s Deli on Main Street in Dunkirk. Kevin Russo is holding a fund-raiser for the Rural Ministry emergency food pantry and to celebrate his 40 years of service to our community. He is challenging the community to fill up our box truck with canned goods so bring some non-perishable items and stop by for some PIZZA and SODA!!

Let’s support and congratulate Kevin Russo for everything he does for our community and being a wonderful long-standing business in our community which continually gives back!

Town of Dunkirk Zoning, Planning Board to meet today

The Town of Dunkirk Zoning and Planning Board will hold a workshop at 5:30 pm today, July 23, at the Town Hall. The purpose of the workshop is to continue with zoning revisions the town code.

Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions plan meeting today

The Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions (NCQC) will meet today at Harvest Chapel Church, 39 Matteson St., Fredonia.

The program will be presented by Kim Kahanic, who is a quilter and a collector of fabrics. She started quilting in the ’70s and started teaching quilting in the ’90s. By day she was a Home Ec. teacher for 33 years. She now quilts for fun and challenge. Kim will have a trunk show during which she will show quilts from the beginning of her quilt journey to her present-day accomplishments. She will explain some of the short cuts that one might use, problems with patterns and how to work around them, and she will answer questions about quilting techniques.

Mindszenty Class of ’79-’80 plans reunion Aug. 2 and 3

The last graduating classes (1979/80) of Mindszenty High School will hold their 40th class reunion on Aug. 2 and 3. Friday’s event will be a cocktail icebreaker at Henry Pucciarelli’s Home on Central Avenue in Dunkirk beginning at 7 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided. There will also be a tour of the school available to interested classmates beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday. Saturday’s event will be a pool party hosted by Mary O’Connell Carlson at her home on Chestnut Street in Fredonia. Pool will open at 1 p.m. for an afternoon of swimming and fun. A Mass at 4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church will be celebrated and then dinner and music will begin at 5 p.m. at the Carlson home. The cost for the weekend is $65 per person or one night for $35 per person which includes all food and drinks, music, and commemorative t-shirt! Reservations with payment can be sent to Beth Marzullo Rich either through PayPal link or to 1133 Sturgeon Point Road, Derby, 14047. Try to have reservation in by July 19. Come sit back, relax and rehash!
