Fredonia delays Tuesday paving

Due to predicted inclement weather, the Village of Fredonia DPW has postponed paving until Wednesday and Thursday, Aug 14-15. Crews will be paving Central Avenue from Forbes Place to the city line. Expect delays, road closures, no on street parking and lane restrictions during the project. It is also recommended residents use alternate routes during this time. Please respect the safety of the employees working in the area and exercise caution.

American Legion Post 62 to host organizational meeting

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62 Organizational Meeting will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Avenue. All Legion members of Post 62, Auxiliary Unit 62 and S.A.L. Squadron 62 are encouraged to attend to plan activities for the upcoming 2019-20 year.

Westfield Quilters’ Guild

It’s already August, and the Westfield Quilters’ Guild is still needing comfort quilts for donation in November. The Wednesday sewing group has assembled kits for anyone interested. Just stop by any Wednesday, or let the members know and they will be happy to bring some to a guild meeting for disbursement.

Members are asked to note: The August meeting will be in Busti with the Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 6:45. There will be no meeting in Westfield at the YWCA on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Gowanda Moose Lodge car cruise set for Thursday

Gowanda Moose Lodge will host a car cruise on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda. The event supports the Raise the Roof project and features $2 Bud Light Draft, $2 hot dogs; hamburgers, $2 fries. Bring your cruise ride, have a sandwich on the Lodge. For details, call 532-4882.
