Wind turbine presentation for lake to be aired
The Chautauqua & Erie County Fishery Boards met recently to address Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to put industrial wind turbines in Lake Erie. Opposition was expressed by fishing boat captains as well as keynote speaker Rich Davenport who roundly condemned the wind turbine proposal as threatening the health of the lake, drinking water, and fish. Squadron 1280 Son’s of the American Legion presents: Cruise Night on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cassadaga Legion Post 1280, 228 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. Sheridan VFW hosts Vince Johnson Bike Run and Spaghetti Dinner Aug. 17
The Sheridan Memorial VFW Post No. 6390 will host a Bike Run and Spaghetti Dinner to benefit Vince Johnson who had a motorcycle accident on June 25, 2019. Registration for the Bike Run will be from 11 a.m. until noon; kickstands up at noon. Rider pre-registration costs are $15 single, $25 couple. Registration fees for riders the day of the event are $25 single, $40 couple. Coffee and donuts will be provided by Tim Hortons.
A Chinese auction, wine pull, and 50/50 drawing will be held. Anyone wishing to donate a basket may drop it off at the Post. Pre-sale spaghetti dinner tickets are available at the Post for $12. The cost for dinner tickets purchased the day of the event is $15.
The meal will be served from 3 to 5 p.m. Pre-sale single or couple bike riders’ pre-sale tickets are available at the Post.

Silver Creek to Flush Hydrants Aug. 20
The village of Silver Creek will be flushing hydrants during the day and going into the night-time beginning August 20.
The 105th reunion of the descendants of Walter Shepardson will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Gerry town park in pavilion No. 1. Attendees are asked to bring a dish of food to pass and their own beverage and table service. Old family photos obtained this past year will be available for viewing.
