Rocking to Nature planned for Aug. 31

The Dunkirk Historical Society and Museum end of summer event will take place Saturday, Aug. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Greystone Nature Preserve, 8531 Bear Lake Road, Fredonia. There will be music by Frank Beach and the Rising. The meal will be catered by Fred’s. the evening also features a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction, and dancing!! The cost is $50 per person (member) or $55 per person (non-member). Mail a reservation check to Dunkirk Historical Society and Museum, 513 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048. Pomfret road closure announced

Shumla Road in the town of Pomfret will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Monday. It will be open to local traffic only. Jude Gardner, town of Pomfret Highway superintendent, said crews will be fixing a hole in the road between Skinner and Burnside roads. It is anticipated work will be completed by 3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30.

Board of Directors of Chautauqua Rails to Trails annual meeting

The Board of Directors of Chautauqua Rails to Trails will hold their Annual Meeting on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Vikings Lake Park west of Bemus Point. One of the many agenda items will be voting on the proposed slate of officers: Jim Fincher–President, Bree Agett–Vice President, Elsa Nelson–Treasurer, and Wendy Lewellen–Secretary. As always, when CR2T meets the first Monday of the month, the meetings are open to the public, and especially to the supporting members of CR2T. Non-members of the Vikings who would like to attend this Annual Meeting should contact Jim Fincher at 665-3246.

Portland Town Board meeting

Town of Portland Board will meet Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Town Hall to award Town Highway Garage Floor Bid.

County IDA to meet Aug. 27

A board meeting of the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will be held at the BWB Building, 201 West Third Street, Jamestown, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 10 a.m.
