Prendergast Library news

The Prendergast Library, located at 509 Cherry St., Jamestown, will be holding a half-off book sale Sept. 5 through 7. all books are $1 or less, or fill a bag of books for $10. Library hours are Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. t o 4 p.m.

The Prendergast Library will host an American Red Cross free disaster preparedness training session on Sept. 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. Learn how to prepare for an emergency and what to do in case of a disaster. Call the library at 484-7135 ext. 258 to register for the event. Drop-ins are welcome as space allows.

Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County book sale to take place in the new location

Looking for a good book to read? The Literacy Volunteers Bookstore has an eclectic selection of used books. Enjoy a good book and support a worthy cause. The LVCC Bookstore has moved into its new location at 12 Park Place in Fredonia.

The book sale will be held Thursday, Aug. 29 through Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit adult literacy.

Chautauqua County Food Policy Council to meet

The Chautauqua County Food Policy Council will be meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Park United Methodist Church’s Jefferson Hall, 25 Maple Avenue, Cassadaga.

South Dayton United Methodist Church rummage and bake sale

The South Dayton United Methodist Church will hold a giant rummage sale and bake sale on Sept. 6 and at 34 Maple St., South Dayton. The hours are Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a bag sale at noon. Proceeds benefit the South Dayton United Methodist Church missions funds.
