Town of Portland/Village of Brocton call

workshop and board meeting

Town of Portland/Village of Brocton, Portland and Brocton Fire Department Officers and the NYS Department of Health are holding a workshop to discuss a joint EMS district at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11.

The regular Portland Board Meeting will be Sept. 11, 7 p.m. at the Town Hall.

Cassadaga group meets Thursday

CASSADAGA — The Citizens for a Better Cassadaga will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Cassadaga Library. They will be evaluating the Labor Day Festival and begin work on holiday plans. All area residents are encouraged to attend.

N. Chautauqua Conservation Club Auxiliary to meet Wednesday

The Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mullet Street club room. Upcoming events will be discussed.

Dunkirk to hold Sept. 11 ceremony

The city of Dunkirk Fire Department and the Dunkirk Professional Firefighters Local 616 will be holding its annual 9/11 ceremony on Wednesday at 9 a.m. at fire headquarters, 311 Eagle St. The public is invited to attend.

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62

Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62 will hold its first meeting for 2019-20 on Tuesday, Sept.10 at 8 p.m. at Post 62, 211 Central Ave. Please note change in time for this meeting only. All auxiliary members are encouraged to attend.

Evans Garden Club to meet Sept. 10

The Evans Garden Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. The Angola Library, 34 N. Main St., Angola will be the location of the meeting. Dave Newman, a beekeeper since 2014, will give a presentation, “What to Know About Bees.” This will give us an understanding of honeybees and their relationship to flowers, how they make honey and what honey consists of and its many uses. He manages about 20 beehives in Erie, Wyoming and Cortland counties in New York State. He is President of the Western New York Honey Producers Association, a local beekeeping club. All are invited to attend.

Community Sing-Along set for Sept. 11

A Community Sing-Along will be held Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fredonia Grange No. 1, 8 W. Main St., Fredonia. Join in a good old-fashioned sing-along. All voices are welcome; the event is free for all. For details, call Joe at 679-8426.

South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Inc. fall tractor pull set for Sept. 15

The South Dayton Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Inc. will hold its fall open pull for tractors on Sunday, Sept. 15 at noon at 34 Maple St.. South Dayton. It is open to any year tractor. Admission is $5. Food will be available. All proceeds benefit the South Dayton Fire Company.
