Silver Creek fountain rededication Friday

The village of Silver Creek will have a rededication ceremony for the fully restored fountain located at the park on Friday at 5 p.m. This event will preceed the opening ceremony for the Festival of Grapes. All are invited to attend.

Open house at J. Carter Knapp American Legion 953 Saturday

On Saturday, Sept. 21, there will be an open house at J. Carter Knapp American Legion 953 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 6 Cedar St., Forestville. The event is to celebrates the 100th anniversary of the American Legion and to honor the William C. Bie family.

Community meal set for Saturday

A community meal will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s School, 71 E. Main St., Gowanda. All are welcome to this monthly community meal. Church members will be serving goulash, cornbread, vegetable, fruited gelatin and desserts. There is no cost.

Fredonia Food Pantry open Saturday

On Saturday, Sept. 21, The Fredonia Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Fredonia Presbyterian Church at 219 Central Ave. The pantry serves the needs of residents of Fredonia, area code 14063, Pomfret, Sheridan, and Laona. All guests receive one or more bags of non-perishable food. Number of bags given out depends on family size.

Gowanda Moose Lodge fall vendor craft and bake sale set for Saturday

The Gowanda Moose Lodge Fall vendor craft and bake sale will take place Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 201 Aldrich St., Gowanda. The event will feature local vendors and crafters offering jewelry, quilts, chocolate, towels, blankets, ceramics, sweater, Raggedy Ann, jellies, jams and much more.

Checkers’ Spooky Island Safety Show at Barker Library Saturday

Come to the Darwin R. Barker Library, 7 Day St., Fredonia on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. Get the Halloween season started with magic, comedy, juggling, unicycling, balloons, crazy machines and lessons about safety. All kids are welcome. No registration is required.

Historical Society Harvest Fest set for this weekend

The Harmony Historical Society Harvest Fest will take place Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22 from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1943 Open Meadows Road, Blockville. Admission is free. Activities include demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, re-enactment action, live music, vendors, food, a quilt show and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Post 409 Ladies Auxiliary open house Sunday

There will be an open house hosted by American Legion Post 409 Ladies Auxiliary of Gowanda on Sunday, Sept. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Legion is located at 100 Legion Drive, Gowanda.

The Auxiliary is proud of its commitment to its military family, both past and present. Its support is not just a local commitment, but also at the county, state and national level.

Join them for a cup of coffee or tea. Enjoy a cookie and see its commitment to its organization, veterans and country.

Beginner line dances to begin Monday

New beginner line dance classes will be held every Monday, beginning Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at Dunkirk Memorial American Legion Post 62, 211 Central Ave.

Learn the basic steps and put them to music and dance within 10 minutes. This is a great way to make new brain pathways and to exercise at the same time.

Dance to all types of music, from country to classic to pop tunes. Wear comfortable shoes or boots that will slide on the floor. Lessons will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday.

Advanced beginner line dance lessons are held every Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by intermediate advanced line dance lessons from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

A donation of $5 is requested for each class. For more information, call Connie at 673-1438.
