Dunkirk Walk to End Alzheimer’s today

Dunkirk Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place today, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at Point Gratiot Park NY-5 and Point Drive W., Dunkirk. The ceremony starts at 10, and the walk gets underway by 10:10 a.m. Join in fighting for the first survivor of Alzheimer’s disease! 550 individuals are expected to attend, most wearing purple or special tee shirts that designate a family or corporate team and usually a reason they are walking; each participant gets a nylon pinwheel flower and generally chooses a color that represents why they are walking. There will be entertainment on the route.

AARP Driver Safety class set

An AARP Driver Safety class is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23 and Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Fellowship Church, 148 W. Main Road, Brocton from 9 a.m. to noon both days. This class is being sponsored by the Ahira Hall Library as there will be no classes held at the library this fall. Note this a Monday/Wednesday class. Attendance is required both days and the cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

The class may also be taken for point reduction. Payment is by check or money order made out to AARP. Participants need to bring a pen, driver’s license and AARP membership card, if a member.

SOAR Chapter 4-1 meeting and lunch

SOAR Chapter 4-1 will hold its next meeting and lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at noon at the United Steelworkers Local Union 2693 Union Hall, 97 E. Fourth St., Dunkirk.

Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the club grounds, 4578 Cemetery Road, Stockton. All members are urged to attend.

Effective public speaking training Wednesday

Achieve your desired career goals with Toastmaster Communication Skills training: “Effective Public Speaking” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25. All are welcome to this session presented by the Concord Spellbinders Toastmasters Club, which will take place at SUNY Fredonia, Jewett Hall, Room 118.

Nar-Anon Family Support weekly meetings change

Nar-Anon SESH (Sharing Experiences, Strength, and Hope) Overdose Awareness Support Program will hold open meetings every Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 222 Temple St. (brick building in rear) in Fredonia. This is a change in location and day of the week for the previous Nar-Anon that used to be held on Thursdays at the Holy Trinity Parish Hall.
