Portland Town Board meeting tonight

The board meeting time for the Portland has changed to 6:45 p.m. tonight.

Special Hanover Town Board meeting Friday

A special Hanover Town Board meeting will take place Friday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the Hanover Town Hall for the purpose of setting a public hearing for a proposed local law to extend Local Law #1 of 2019 regarding the six month moratorium on certain commercial buildings and single family homes, and also any other matters that may come before the board.

Reservations needed for CAIO Christmas party luncheon

All are welcome to the CIAO Christmas party luncheon at the Fredonia Beaver Club, 64 Prospect St., on Sunday, Dec. 8 beginning at noon. The cost is $18 per person (includes meal, coffee and dessert) Make checks out to CIAO (deadline Dec. 2). The menu includes roast beef, Caprese chicken breast (tomato, mozzarella cheese, balsamic glaze and fresh basil), baked ziti, tossed salad, mashed potatoes, various desserts and coffee. There will be a cash bar.

CIAO members are asked to bring individual treats (candy, chips, etc.) to go into Christmas stockings. These will be delivered to Willow Mission to be added to their Christmas Baskets.

Stockton Volunteer Fire Company hunters’ breakfast

The Stockton Volunteer Fire Company will hold its opening day hunters’ breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 16 from, 4:30 to 9 a.m. at 28 Stockton-Kimball Stand Road, Stockton. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice for $6; or also available are bagel breakfast sandwiches for $3.50.

‘Picture Your Pet With Santa’ fundraiser

The Lakeshore Humane Society’s annual “Picture Your Pet With Santa” fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk.

Pets, children, and/or family photos with Santa Claus will be taken by a photographer, and be available for purchase to benefit the Lakeshore Humane Society. Cost is $15 for one pose sent to your email; $5 for each additional pose. Pets must be vaccinated, friendly, and on a leash or in a carrier. Multiple pets and children are welcome. (No sick, aggressive, or exotic animals, please.)

The usual adoption hours will not be held this day.

Sip & Sample -Flavors of Fall set for Saturday

Sip & Sample – Flavors of Fall will take place at the Grape Discovery Center on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 8305 West Main Road, Westfield.

The event features five wineries and five local restaurants. Live music will be provided by Tim Bartlett.
