Fredonia wrapping up loose leaf pick up

The Village of Fredonia announced that loose leaf pick up is ending this week. All leaves must be bagged from now on. Additionally there are no scheduled brush pick ups until further notice.

Sunset Bay railroad crossing to be closed

There will be an emergency track closure going into Sunset Bay today and Wednesday for Alleghany Road. The access road gate between Sunset Bay and Hanford Bay will be open.

Murray Hose 4 needs reservations for Christmas party and dance ASAP

The annual Murray Hose Christmas party and dance will be held at the Kosciuszko Club, Saturday evening, Dec. 14 starting at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, dinner at 6:15 p.m. and dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. It will cost each member $10. If a member brings a guest, the guest will get in for free.

There is a limit of one guest per member. It includes a family-style dinner, consisting of rolled steak, pork chops and chicken with all the trimmings, plus refreshments. To accommodate all the members, the bar will be located upstairs in the side room. Music will be provided by the Does Band from 8 to 11 p.m. and all the ladies in attendance will receive a special prize.

Sons of American Legion Squad 59 to meet tonight

The Sons of American Legion Squad 59 will be holding their monthly meeting today at 7 p.m. at Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia. All SAL are encouraged to attend the meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of every month.

Orders being accepted for plated cookie sale

Trinity Episcopal Church Women will be having their annual plated Christmas Cookie Sale on Friday , Dec. 13, in Garland Hall behind the Church on 11 Day St., Fredonia from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For only $9, choose a plate filled with over 18 cookies — no two plates are the same. Come early for best selection. There are also many other wonderful goodies from which to choose including candies and gluten free plated cookies. It is suggested that patrons pre-order the plates by emailing the church at office@trinitychirchwny.org. Include the number of plates wanted and contact information. A limited number of Cucidatas sold by the dozen will only be available at the sale — there are no pre-orders for those.

Hanover Planning, Zoning Boards to meet

A workshop of the Town of Hanover Planning and Zoning Boards will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at 21 Pearl St., Forestville. Discussion will include the revision of zoning laws. All are welcome to attend. The residence is handicapped accessible.

Silver Creek Elementary School plans holiday concerts

The Silver Creek Elementary School holiday concert will be performed twice on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in the high school auditorium, 1 Dickinson St. The first show is 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.; the second show is 7 to 8 p.m.

Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary monthly meeting set

The Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club Ladies Auxiliary monthly meeting will take place Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at 1 N. Mullet St., Dunkirk. Upcoming events will be discussed.

Gowanda Elementary School concert tonight

Tonight, Dec. 10, student musicians in grades 3 to 4 at Gowanda Elementary School will perform a chorus concert at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 10674 Prospect St.

Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Board meeting Wednesday

The Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Board monthly meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mayor’s Conference Room of City Hall on the second floor.

Sons of the Legion, Squad 434 Brocton to meet today

The Sons of the Legion, Squad 434 Brocton, will hold their monthly meeting today, Dec. 10. The meeting will be held at the Brocton Legion, 110 W. Main St., Brocton, starting at 7 p.m.

JCC concert tonight

The Jamestown Community College choir and concert band will showcase a variety of music styles during a combined performance at 7 p.m. tonight in Scharmann Theatre.

Julie Costantini will direct the choir. The concert band performs under the direction of Chris Wakefield.

The theatre will also host Winter Jam!, featuring JCC’s rock ensembles under the direction of Bill Eckstrom and Bob Pfeiffer at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Guest band R6 will also perform.

Admission is $4, general public; $3, area students and senior citizens; and $2, JCC Faculty Student Association members. Tickets can be purchased by calling the JCC box office, 338-1187, or at the theatre door prior to the concert.

Community Sing-Along set for Fredonia Grange

A Community Sing-Along will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fredonia Grange No. 1, 8 W. Main St., Fredonia. Join in a good old-fashioned sing-along. All voices are welcome; the event is free for all. For details, call Joe at 679-8426.
